Osu!!! Great job Mr. Lecut, and I think we should extend invitations to some of those who like to post negative comments to join us in Oxford or any of our tournaments to show them that our style is not lacking in any way shape or form. Especially when we see nothing of their form or what they can do on any videos available to us!!! RIKKIHITATSU!!!!!
I know Nitten Ichi Ryu in theory does not include Iai, but is only KenJutsu. The only thing I know is that our Grand Master Kaicho Yamamoto, when I asked him the origin of this kata, told me he learned it from an old Master of Nitten Ichi Ryu.
@fredlecut The techniques are not from Niten Ichi-ryu though, so the info on the right is slightly misleading. It is more likely simply that the person he learnt them off; also studied iai of some description, but the kata displayed do not share any relevance with Niten Ichi-ryu.
Yes, it is possible, it is also possible I did not understand very well, because Yamamoto Sensei's English is not fluent, and it is not my native language either. Actually, he told me the name of the Master he learned from, but I could not remember it. I'll ty to ask him again the next time he comes to the US .
I'm interested in the connection between this and Niten Ichi-ryu. Can you explain please?
Oh, and your iai shows a serious lack of fukaku. I don't think you should be posting demonstrational videos until you have this. Cheering noises don't really take its place.
Forgive me for asking. But I wasn't aware that Hyoho Niten Ichi-ryu had iaido as part of its curriculum, as seems to be suggested by the video info. The techniques seem to resemble seitei iaido, and Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto-ryu rather than Niten Ichi-ryu.
You ever heard the word etiquette? His basics are fine. Would you please post a video of yourself doing sword so that we may watch a 40 year old who has no respect for what others do! The are approx. over 400 styles of Iaido in Japan & they are all different! Again please post a video of your sword so that we may post a positive comment! Shihan Mike Leverett
good! an answer from some one who seem to not even know were good is in iai, his kaburi, cuts etc, there arejust at beginner level. to not be able to notice that in his iai your practice much be worse than his.

Strange how some people post things and then remove them ?
Lets be clear, the purpose of this video is not to show of, but to have the Yoshukai Karate Iaido kata displayed for Yoshukai students.
Of course it is not perfect, after all, I only started to study Judo in 1969, Kendo in 1987, and Iaido in 2007, so what do I know ?

Very nice sword, good extension on vertical cuts. The chiburi in your kata is very old don't see that much anymore.
