  • Thank you very much for this.

  • "If you don't know what a A minor chord is, I don't think this is the right piece for you" *goes on to explain the A minor chord*

  • Learn the fingering from this and them immediately look at a tab, because he misses a lot of notes.

  • I'm learning this song after watching Toby's old video playing classical gas xD

  • you rushed through the end ... which was the most difficult -.-

  • A word of caution! Although I appreciate Mike Herberts for making this video, I'm sorry to say that there are innumerable variations from the original - all you have to do is listen to the original yourself.

Frankly, it was very frustrating to have to relearn the song properly after having learned it wrongly from here.

  • oh, mother fuck. my fingers!

  • i know some parts of the song but the sound is coming out much lower pitched than its supposed to. my guitar is standard tuning. am i supposed to tune it to a different pitch?

  • First part down, can't wait to tackle the second part! Not today my fingers are killing me!

  • theres not sound

  • the intro is wrong. Sorry.

  • All your classical guitar needs in one spot, all from reputable suppliers. Check out ECG @ triple w [dot] onestopclassical [dot] com

  • Thanks Mike for all the great video's of Classical Gas. Great. Really.

    Greetings from Holland

    John

  • Thumbs up if you watched this cause of Toby.

  • bought a guitar 1 week ago, learned the first page so far. lol..

havent had much timebut these videos help a lot!! thanks

  • mark knopfler

  • My right ear is lonely :(

  • Never EVER did I think i would be capable enough to learn even a little bit of Classical Gas, one of my favourite songs ever. Thank you, this tutorial is AMAZING!

  • this is a great lesson, really helpful. the only thing that really annoys me is that he's skipping a part of the intro every time he plays. it was easy enough to figure it out by ear, but it isn't something he should skip. still, free lessons are always awesome, and he's a good teacher

  • @TheRejectedTurtle whats missing? i cant figure it out..

  • The tab doesn't match completely with the video... I'll go with the video.

  • wow¡¡¡¡ that means play the guitar¡¡¡ its so great ....congratulations¡¡

  • "not a hard song"

    THERE ARE LIKE 5 PARTS

  • This is the best and easiest way for me to get the mechanics of the piece really fast! I know this is an old vid but please post more!

  • You're missing a couple of notes between the slow intro and the sort of fast intro

  • you explain it so clearly and it's easy to follow along as well. Bug thumbs up!

  • Great lesson mate thanks!

  • ur sound systems crap

  • @MrLouisBelcourt Don't blame me, I'm about to begin part 4 :~P

  • One of my cousins learned to play this through taking a guitar courses at university. That was back in the 70s. Don't think he has really played in decades.

  • @mike196212 shinfo.

  • For some reason, my volume control and time slider disappears upon loading this video. Does anyone else experience the same problem, or is it just me? Excellent video anyway!

  • @superfuntimehappy I didn't have any problems with it.

  • i am going to die trying to learn this.

  • I got lost at 5:54 when you said "Now let me show you exactly what i did"

  • Thanks, Now I have proven that 11 year old girls can play guitar to my step-farther!

  • Thank you very very much. You helped me skip hours and hours of learning it myself. I feel guilty for using all these videos on Youtube these days. I used to figure everything out myself. But guitar is my 2nd or really 3rd instrument so ...I'm taking all the short cuts available these days. Thank you again

  • not to sound like a complete retard......but is this standard tuning?

  • @infernous1 yes it is, now pick up your guitar again ;)

  • I've been wanting to learn this song for a long time. Thank you.

  • thanks a lot, I appreciate very much this

  • Alright, i learnt this first part in two days (the second part was a bit confusing, but i got it in the end). Thank you, i'll be watching the other videos and i hope i can eventually master this wonderfull song.

  • Toby Turner learnt it in a week.

    Thumbs up for Toby.

  • you are the best teacher on youtube !

  • which version of the song is this?

  • Comment removed

  • I am going to get this song! I can play halfway on the first part. I'll get it eventually. Thanks for making this video. I have always wanted to learn this song.

  • is that...richard hammond??

  • nice lesson, it's really helping me a lot. if you know that it's a tricky part you should slow down and not always repeat the whole thing. maybe showing tabs at the same time would be cool. thanks for your work/time.

  • Please record your voice in stereo next time xD my left speaker is to far away to understand you xD

  • dude so hard to understand but i want to stick to something thats worth waiting for is it worth it because my fingers are killing me

  • @MrLouisBelcourt Ha! Didn't really notice that before, but your'e right!

  • Wow what a great video great song great teacher... struggling with the arpeggio's around the c chord he holds but doesnt play most of it... weird, help lol

  • hey would you be able to send me the tabs cause i have been dying to play this song and you videos are great to learn from

  • @kapricorn65 dude hear the sound and whatch the chord he is playing and repeat. thats how i've done

  • This lesson is missing a lick in between both parts.

  • I'm so happy I'll be able to play this song with your excellent tutorial's. I'f I was a women, I would show you my tits.

  • i didnt get the email T_T

  • I have learned this beautiful piece of music with this tutorial. It took some time before i could play it without mistakes but the result is realy worth it! If you are interested in how it will sound after the whole tutorial -> i have uploaded the video on my channel! :)

    Hope you like it!

  • Hi, I've had a problem while trying to learn this song. At 6.40mins, you say to remember to the extra note after the arpegio because this will mess up the timing. However, im pretty sure at the start of the vidoe where you play the song through you dont play that note, and it may even sound better that way. Which is the correct way to play it?

  • @MrLouisBelcourt Of course! They are all practicing the first video, no time for the second yet :D

  • @thundreturtle I think it's more like the people give up cause this song is pretty hard lol

  • ''and then of course, in the next lesson, we will make your hands want to commit suicide''

  • Танечка, мы слушаем и смотрим вместе с сыном , он говорит что песня сложная , но нам очень понравилась. Он прослушал несколшько раз. Сейчас он напишет по английски.

Ted, thank you, my name is Kevin and i really liked it.

  • Come one before the ''final section'' there is one more part. He missed it completely

  • it may not have every single trick like when Tommy Emmanuel played it but other then that ................THX

  • lo odio

  • This is a well made lesson and it looks pretty solid and you can actually learn something from it... However, it is not how it goes in the original, especially the part that is not taught in this particular video.. Can someone prove me wrong? Please, I'd like to find a proper lesson for the awesome song but nothing so far...

  • this is so helpful i am learning this since 2 hours and almost perfect thanks for this tutorial

  • tanks a lot ... heard it on the guiness add ... thought it wud be fair tough but i have the first video completed !! only 6 ta go :-) tanks

  • @jambub

fyi this is a video you can pause, go forwards and backwards how often you want. ;)

  • @Wechsewinke i can follow the video but this man is playing the song wrong. listen to the original and then this

  • this is played very poorly....the timing is off and your missing parts...how the notes are correct..so this still helps..in some way

    :)

  • this guy's a baller

  • I like learning from his videos, it is easy and simple.

    Thank you very much.

  • Song preview: 0:00

    Introduction: 0:44

    Lesson preview: 1:36

    1st Part: 2:14

    2nd Part: 5:19

  • Well... I don't know how to say it, INCREDIBLE THANK YOU!

  • very good video learned it all very quickly

  • great video lesson. Thanks

  • @JeanDupays1 i agree fully i already learned the tutorial 10 minutes not its time 2 speed it up any suggestions on any other good classical songs i should learn?

  • @MrLouisBelcourt

    Anyone unserious just fades away.

  • @ulriksj Yeeah, I guess that's what a difficult song does :P

  • What a Classic! I've loved this song since I was little and with alot of practice and your help someday I should be able to learn this, THANK YOU...

  • his voice sounds like Ritchie Blackmores

  • Comment removed

  • Thank You! Very nice lesson.

  • Great video. I've been playing for almost 30 years and I've never attempted this piece. Now that I've found your videos, I think I'm going to give it a shot.

I will echo at least one other comment I saw--even with the volume maxed on my machine, your voice came across a bit hard to hear. Headphones helped.

  • i just cant hear you

  • Thank you very much sir, you are a great teacher!!

  • pfft. you go slow on the obvious parts but fast on the more complex parts.

and for the pple saying "patient and repetitive"? It is a recording....

  • You are a very good teacher, patient and repetitive. I'm trying to follow, but you aren't following your own tab...e.g., line 3, page 1. ??????

  • Hi, I'm 55 and have worked on this off and on since it first came out...you have made it make sense! I was always missing the nuances.. THANK-YOU!!!

  • great teacher!!! not many have that kinda patience

  • i recently learned to play this with your lessons...they are superior to any teacher i've had ever because i can go back and repeat as many times as i'd like :)

  • What is the hardest?

  • @masonrox2547 Tommy Emmanuel - Guitar Boogie.

  • you must be the best teacher (no limitations)

  • very nice***********

  • Nice Job....I have done a my version...check out.... Pipixcan69

  • Thanks for the post. I realize I've been playing this wrong for fifteen years. This is a great tutorial.

  • holy shit this is gonna take me a very long time

  • How could you dislike this video i think they all just missed the like button?

  • This is the first song I started to learn on the guitar and im at lesson 5 now! dont lose hope new people MIKE IS A GREAT TEACHER!

  • I do hate it when people tell me its too hard for me, which is probably why I progessed very quickly when I first started playing guitar. Many songs like Sweet Home Alabama and Stairway to Heaven, I didnt know any of the chords, and when they told me it would be too hard, I persisted and managed to learn the piece. However, as much as hate people saying things are too hard, I just believe that without knowing at least the chords, you wouldnt be able to play this song. I would study first :)

  • I've been playing for 2 months. I know all of the basics and have a good ear. Should I start to learn this song?

  • @HarryPotterTrio91 Are you an acooustic player or electric?

  • @MrFaulconbridge Acoustic.

  • @HarryPotterTrio91 Do you enjoy singing with your playing or do you prefer playing instrumental music such as this?

  • well done

  • "slow as i possibly can." you do the easy part slow then the complex part normal speed.... wtf

  • Great lesson. Thanks....I'm getting it.

  • I think all you people dwith negative comments about this tutorial should just move on. Obviousley this song is too complicated for you, and you need things spelled out. I am doing just fine with this. He even says, if you don't know what a Am chord, perhaps this isn't for you. If you just went and looked up the chord, and say you know it, yeah, you still should move on. It's a great peice, and the tutorial is great... Thanks!

  • Does anyone know were i can find the origonal tabutire or music for this song. i want to be able to play it just like Mason William's. this Guy does a really good job thier are just a few parts that are differnt than the origonal.

  • It's weird, there is like zero competent tutorials for this song besides this one.

This is the best. Thanks for putting it up :)

  • is this a bit different to eric claptons? or am i tripping out?

  • @jimivanslash You mean Mason William's?

  • @jimivanslash eric clapton didnt do a version

  • is this a bit different to eric claptons? or am i tripping out?

  • I don't know what all these negative comments are for I for one think this is a great series of lessons and I really appreciate someone taking the time to actually show the less talented of us out here how to play such a wonderful piece. Thank you so very much. The rest of you, if you don't like the lesson, don't watch!

  • thank you very much sir!

    nice series.

  • whats wrong with you, ya teach one way and play it a different way

  • is there something wrong with you, your teaching it one way then your playing it different?

  • cant hear you man

  • After about 5:30 my eyes glazed over, completly lost, and I pretty much forgot my name, where I was, and why I was holding my guitar... This lesson needs to come with a warning label to not try this at home.

  • @TheBluesBeggar hahahaha very true!

  • @TheBluesBeggar That's only because you are not ready for this kind of song yet. Practise more and then come back and it might make sense.

  • and then ofc in next lesson we will do this -starts to rock

  • Sounds like Hammond off of Top Gear lol

  • thanks for the lesson however there is a part missing before the tricky part.

  • have never used my fingers before this only pick can safely say i can now use my fingers:)

  • @lachlanSB then you've never tried real classical guitar right? ;)

  • @1shin123 obviously haha, even thow i own a classical guitar i never played classical pieces

  • 114 people prolly cant read and thought "dislike" meant "dis i like"!

  • There is a part missing before the "tricky" part starts isnt it ?

  • @realeques indeed there is just look up a tab in google and you should find it

  • @youdeadman88 yeah ive already found and learned it the right way but in this tut its missing

  • @youdeadman88 yeah ive already found and learned it the right way but in this tut its missing

  • lession? It's too fast! lol

  • @TheOcchublu85 hahaha maybe for you.. keep practicing other things then come back to this video and i bet it will be easier

  • @LolToalNoobs No, i'm going to learn this! :P Learned the first part so far.

  • beginning guitar lessons ebook at guitarmanual.typepad.com/blog/

  • what is the most difficult song you know?

  • There is no audio

  • I can't hear you.

  • that wold suck if you didn't know the a-minor because this video is GREAT!

  • i was like "what an awesome song for my junior cert!" , my hopes were crushed when i read the tabs online , thanks for making it simple

  • This is a simplified version. Using easier techniques, still sounds okay but study the offical tab if you want it sounding like the original.

  • Good lesson

  • There is no easier and less expensive way a person can learn how to play guitar songs than with Mike Herberts' video tutorial lessons.

  • he actually doesn't play this song note for note. he uses easier techniques but it doesn't sound as good.

  • Beginner lessons available through google search the guitar manual blog.

free ebook download of chapter 1 in .pdf. thanks!!!!!

  • umm u r my hero!

  • Great joy watching the video. Great fun learning the pieces, it's easy for a beginner like me.

Thank you very much for the free videos Mike. Take care and God Bless you!

  • sorry but i can get the bit at the end ur going too fast but i got the rest good job

  • Thanks to Mike Herberts, I can play classical Gas, and many other songs. He showed me the open window to the new world of guitar playing, your great Mike to take the time to show us how to make playing fun!

  • i lov how there's over a million views on here, but like only a couple hundred thousand on the other ones. shows how many quitters there are!

  • ¡This is really helpful! However i would have preferred that you had played like in the tab in the description. In the video you miss the 6th bar of the tabs. How come? It still sounds good though. Keep it up; I'm sure I'm no the only one finding this video extremely useful!

  • I just learn't dust in the wind. Am I ready to move onto this?

  • @MrFaulconbridge

    No. lol

  • Do you have beginer videos

  • Thanks for the tut, it's alittle challenging for me, but I'll get it!

  • What kind of guitar are you playing? it's beautiful?

  • i think my right headphone got broken. lol

  • Comment removed

  • I already learned the song but this helps me get the technique down so well thanks!

  • Damn you're good Dude, excellent! Thank you for your post.

  • wtf you aren't supposed to stick your thumb out like that and even worse to play notes with it

  • @betiuxyricky

Why not, because you learned different?? Yes, your way must be the only way....

Now don't get me wrong, I do believe it's better to keep yer thumb behind the neck for easier reaching of notes, but don't ever think you can say how somebody should or shoudn't play.

And if I remember correctly, the original author of this song also plays notes with his thumb, if that is true then YOU are playing it wrong.(if you can call it that, I call it a matter of preference)

  • bloody hell this is hard

  • fuck..

  • whats a harder song to play?

  • very nice video but there's a missing part, right before the "tricky part", in the beggining of the video at the twelve second you'll notice a silence, listen to the original version and you'll notice the difference

  • Easy to learn the most dificult tunes with this guy, exelent format, good pace and bite sized lessons that are easy to follow both hands at once.

  • Mine doesnt quite get have the same sound as this... Is it tuned in a specific way or something?

  • 112 people don't know the a min chord

  • @smiily2go Nice
