Expresses many of the feelings of a whole generation about politiics not just AV. That's not to mentioning the inspired work on Nick Clegg. What a guy!
The point in favour is that it doesn't matter about whether something gives bigger majorities or more hung parliaments - it's (assuming you accept the principle of constituency-based elections rather than national party lists) that it's better to have more than half over the people, etc etc
I accept the principle of constituencies and area-based responsive MPs, so the question is how best to vote them, whether or not the national result is a big majority or not. Bottom-up democracy
@MJHibbett acctual the people who have done the exit polls for all the past elections going back to 1983 have asked that if they had a second prefenence vote who it would have gone to so av in other words and have found that labours landslide in 1997 would have been even bigger under av
@frogspawn11 Hello! If true that's one landslide they found that would have been bigger. What about 1983 itself? Or Blair's second victory? That would be two landslides that would be smaller, so overall less landslides. And to be honest - if that's what people actually wanted, then that's what they should have got!
@jsfarrar Huh? bigger landslides and more hung parliaments? True AV can be slightly more one way or the other, but it isn't enough to change the result that much from what FPTP is likely to give, only mildly exagerate the results a bit. Hung parliaments will be hung under AV or FPTP, landslides will be landslides under AV or FPTP. The only thing that makes governments unaccountable is not having to worry that we won't vote for them next time round... and FPTP massages that worry away for them.

@cookdave Er... nowhere in my video do I give that as an argument, you pillock! But to answer your question: because Gordon Brown didn't give a toss about the voting system. You pillock.
@cookdave because Beckett, Prescott, Blunkett all stopped Tony Blair from doing so - the same three Labour curmudgeons who are cosing- up to the Tories right now to say NO. And on 9th Feb 2010 Labour did just that - give us a referendum on AV!
@cookdave Because Labour benefit from first past the post same way the tories do. Notice that for the last hundred years or so it's been Labour Torie Labour Torie? You got FPTP to thank for that. Why would they get rid of system that keeps them in power and allows them to do pretty much whatever they want when they are in power? If you vote AV it'll be a tiny step toward true democracy, one where the people have a direct role in the running of our country,
Great video!!!!!! Vote YES! for a fairer electoral system on May the 5th. The Alternative vote is a more modern and Democratic system, allowing many more people to have a real say in who gets into power.
Funny and irreverent but true. Vote YES on May 5th. if you don't we'll be stuck with FPTP forever. If we vote YES to Fairer Votes now then we can push for PR after 2015. YES YES YES!
A bloody shame No won out. Tory funded propaganda and Nick Clegg screwing over the moderate left really fouled up that referendum.

@scarletharlot69 Nope - no more hung parliaments (certainly no more than we've had already) and less likely to have landslides.

If AV is a voting system that will help destroy those eeeeeeeeeeeevil Tories why didn't Labour give us a referendum during their 13 years of office?
Cool vid, but your "arguments" suck.
