@63Relax63 the movie itself is based on a true story. oakland is a poor team but they were successful b/c of this system. as far as the fat guy hitting the home run goes...no clue
what i see in it is how a capable person underestimated himself and gave up out of self doubt not realizing there was never a reason to question his limits.
@TheSaintsrow3rd My interpretation is: Sometimes we focus too much on one small goal, that when we accomplish something much greater than it, we dont realize it because we are not paying attention
@TheSaintsrow3rd Literally, the clip's significance to moneyball is that Billy Beane was the pioneer of the greatest revolution in baseball's history and didn't pat himself on the back for it because he didn't win the world series (his goal). Basically, it's about realizing the impact you have on something even if you don't win the grand prize. Life isn't that fair. This video is for the Van Gogh's, Emily Dickinson's, and Dan Marino's our there. Just enjoy the show
I think the point is.. he thinks he failed by trying to do something more than he was expected to do.. but without knowing he did something better than he had even hoped for.. which is basically what the movie was about..
@MikTMC He took a risk. A risk that he had never done before. He tried something that nobody ever would have believed in or supported. When it seemed like he totally failed and tried to regroup what he realizes is that he didn't fail. He actually changed the way the entire game was played.
@BritesBrasil Im still researching if Jeremy Browns story is true here, when the camera gets fuzzy as he nears first base would be a great way for Hollywood to cover up someone bad action acting, however the clip of Jeremy's game could have come from an actual fan in the stands. I'm seeing a lot of hearsay but have yet to find definitive confirmation.
this is the scene that got Jonah the oscar nom, and Pitt got the oscar nom for the last scene. Both were great in the movie

To put what other people have said into different words: If you are so focused on failure will not realize your success.

Brad Pitt is the only guy in the world who can use the phrase "good egg" and not make it sound dorky.

I used to take hitting lessons from Jeremy about 2 years ago. He is now probably about 210 and can still knock the crap out of a ball.
