my team and i were all wondering the WHOLE routine what the bag was for and when the flag came out of it we were BLOWN away! amazing job girls, yall deserved it!

and to clear up the whole "tumbling issue" tumbling is only a handful of points, the amount of tumbling won't screw up the team if they work the score sheet well and make up for it in other areas

i've been in love with summerville since last year when i started competitive cheerleading. they execute everything so well and have the most unique stunts, transitions, and obviously dances! congratulations!

AMAZING job Summerville! I haven't seen a team execute those straight leg scorpions like y'all do! Beautiful! And to have 5 of them! WOW!  Northwestern did amazing as well! The amount and skills in tumbling is outstanding. Those medals they received are well deserved. They may not have won first but they made school history this year and I know every girl on that team worked hard and is extremely happy. Every team at state was fantastic!

You can technically max out on tumbling with 1 full and a bunch of ro bhs and 1 tuck. ANd you can max out with 10 standing bhs and 3 standing tucks...so northwesterns tumbling was clearly better...but it didnt make or break summerville winning...they probably both scored 5's in standing and running.

Leg positions: Northwestern's leg positions were not as pretty as Summerville's. Summerville had straight leg scorpians and their bow and arrows were gorgeous. Northwestern also did these two skills. NW's bow and arrows were pretty in the middle, but looking at the first stunt group and the sixth stunt group those girls are considerably less flexible than the other girls on their squad and Summerville's. Cheer: NW's words were not exciting to me. SHS definitely can sell a routine and cheer.

Northwestern was an amazing squad this year, but Summerville was just a little bit better. NW beat Summerville in tumbling. WOW NW has some amazing tumblers on that team!!! SCHS cheerleading does not place as much emphasis on tumbling as say all-stars and if I can place any faith in the rumors, A LOT of NW girls cheer all-star for Charlotte or someone else. They were awesome. Look at the score sheet - you only need one full to be considered Elite.

its called cheerleading, not "majority of tumbling on one team" theres also, kick double baskets, dance, cleanliness, words, jumps, stunts, synchonization to worry about? lets not forget that

yet you sat here and bashed summerville to begin with. people are only defending summerville with respect to northwestern. the fact that you were the one that bashed them is what brought about these comments. in the SCHSL, tumbling is only 5 points on the score sheet. plus, when judges score tunbling they consider number of girls (more than half the team), difficulty-, AND variety. summervilles one full got them difficulty points, more than 1/2 their team tumbles, and they have variety

therefore, they were maxing out on tumbling as well. no one disagrees that NW's tumbling is AWESOME...really. but tumbling is not all that is considered in judging. and its not a bow falling out thats a safety. its if someone steps on it. same with the "bag". no one stepped on it. thats why its not a safety. same as the team using signs.. no safety. check out the score sheet and you can see where summerville maxed out. again, NW was amazing! but summerville won. wont change, and it was deserved

I said "in previous competitions" i know summerville had been beat before, but they also beat northwestern, dorman, mauldin, and lexington... without the flag. im just making the point, that ppl should put it to rest that they relied on the flag for a "WOW" factor. What exactly is a competitive cheer arena? I thought that saturdays competition was the south carolina high school COMPETITIVE cheer finals. Also you should probably go to the schsl website and look at the score sheet because the way it is set up does not take in to consideration how many of elite tumbling you have, it just cares if you have it or not

what skills did they not have??? Also if you are going to be such a sore loser, then next year, apply to be a judge and then give out the scores your want. Every team works too hard to have to hear from a sore loser that they have no skills when apparently, in the JUDGES opinion, they clearly had the skills. That is the point of a competition, getting opinions of the panel, if you dont like what they have to say, then dont go to the comeptition.

the straight leg scorpions, the 5 beautiful kick doubles, the pretty girl kick double, the completely synchronized tumbling passes, the very difficult and very in synch pyramid, the awesome tripple toe touches, the loud, sharp words, and an awesome, fun, entertaining, and synchronized dance... and a performance better than any other team... what skills are they lacking that needed to be covered up by a flag?

the flag was a big surprise to everyone, throughout the whole year this performance was never done with the flag in the end. it was put in for the state competition to throw everyone off and really make an impression.

This is a great routine but it looks exactly like their routine from last year except you had to buy a big flag for the wow factor!

Should have brought the flag to the Dorman competition. This stuff is just like iceskating, very subjective!
