  • it was awesome watching these concerts!

  • The Zeitgeist movement is the Voice ........try and understand it.

  • John... simply the best!

Great job by the drummer as well.

  • Alot of people want this as our national anthem, instead we are stuck with some really bad crap song

  • coldplay is amateur crap, Tranqvillia is 1 million times better

  • I know this was not a day for ego's and people trying to showboat but fuck...you have to agree that John Farnham has one hell of a set of lungs on him!

  • Listening to it on Arias Farhnam was propelled to greatness. Listening to it here I realised the song is bigger than I thought; much bigger; it is still expanding into the fabric of Aust music history. Epic song.

  • So, who else was singing along? :D

  • @Fashi0ner we all are, mate!

  • 3:26 - 3:35 everyone sat in silence after Farnsey said not to.

  • No one wanted to know John Farnham, no record company wanted to touch him, Glenn Wheatey took a second mortgage on his house to make Whispering Jack, and the rest is history, Onya John a true aussie champion

  • gotta love it!!! alot of younger ppl in the crowd and still know all the words!!! an aussie classic!

  • Shivers down your spine stuff. Fantastic.

  • indeed, i remember watching this.........apparently this wasn't even meant to be performed but Coldplay saw John Farnham back stage and asked if he would perform with them just as a complete spare of the moment thing.............epic spare of the moment

  • I wonder if Coldplay noticed that they were just out staged in a big way. He may be old but he can still capture the audience of today, as just shown, even if I bet some of them don't even know who he is, with it being such a young crowd. Great performer.

  • great lyrics

john farnham is proud i think

  • Coldplay is the best

  • Should be the anthem of the whole nation of the earth !! We're the voice, for godsake, not politics(that's how i see that)!!!

  • @gahan101 You are not the only one who views it like this, we ARE the voice, and we all need to speak up!!!

  • This man makes me so proud to be an Aussie

  • Me to, mate. Me too.

  • brilliant singer john...

What a great song, played perfectly love the crowd, defo brings chills to you!

    Go John!!!!

  • It started out super positive then it just got CRAZY

  • defo - but it just gives you goosebumps, man. reminds me of my childhood - there's just no anthems nowadays...I'm so grateful to have been a child when things like this were presented on a plate, as standard musical fare......

  • Just brilliant - what a great, uplifting version of a classic song - belter, john!!!

  • 3:25 is lol

  • 3:26 is amazing!

  • brilliant version..........love it

  • simply awesome

  • Im a pomme and still think this guy rocks being an ozzy or not! Great song and what a voice this fella has.. Respect!

ps i live in oz now! Oz rocks to!

  • Farnham's really a Pom - they only gave him a passport when they gave him Australian of the Year and realised he wasn't Australian :)

  • Not anymore he's not! He belongs to Australia!

  • Australia belongs to him

  • oh bull, he's been in Australia since he was 10 years old he became an Australian citizen just before he won Australian of the year but it is not the piece of paper that makes him a true Aussie. What a pointless comment you make on such a positive video. :o(

  • Note the smiley face with my original comment. I'm not trying to claim him for Britain - he's as Aussie as they come. I only came across this clip when I was teaching my year 10 class a unit on Australian pop music. I love Farnham and I love living in Australia. Chill out!

  • Can hardly hear Chris Martin singing until the end and noone can sing this song like John! This song still has an effect on me after some many years! I love it! It reminds me of home whilst living in the UK!! John Farnham has always been one of my favourites, he rocks!!

  • John is great, but for me THE voice for this song will always remain the man who wrote it:Chris Thompson!

    :)

  • he looks so cute and stoked at 1:43! like he wasnt expecting the crowd response. so sweet

  • wow ! ;-)

  • this song could bring the world together

  • Interesting that you mention that because I think there is really something to what you've said. Routinely the people of countries who are at odds with each other still go nuts over the same music and musicians. I think love for music and the arts have a lot of potential for doing just what you have stated - when you see people in another nation - even one of the 'axis of evil' (I use that term sarcastically) as fans of the same music it's just one more thing to show that we are all the same.

  • This should be the AUSTRALIAN national anthem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me proud to be an Aussie everytime I here this song GO AUSTRALIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • so tell me something. am from Canada...do have some very dear Aussie friends. What is his appeal? Am an Elvis fan.

  • chris martin's voice sounds so so weak compared to john farnham's.

  • Great song, great voice, great band, great crowd, great country. Did i miss anything?

  • LOL, wtf happens at 3:25?

  • 1:43 you can see he's having a absolute ball. Definately one of the greatest Australian singers of all time.

  • Great performance - you'd never guess the man was 60 this year!!

  • is he!

  • This song gives me goose bumps.. I love it!

  • Love the song

  • He was brilliant today at the MCG we love u

  • Such a difficult song to sing id be suprised if chris martin from coldplay could sing it in the way john farnham did. Farnhams voice is amazing

  • omgomgomg! they didnt have bagpipes!!!!

  • FANTASTIC

  • chorus so bloody catchy!!!!!

  • fukn love the chorus!!

  • Damn! Jonny rocked that solo! And Will was freaking awesome on drums! Hell, they were all awesome!

  • Beautiful

  • Awsome!

You can really tell how much John is enjoying the whole gig.

  • Great tune. Thank you for posting.

  • chorus is epic

  • very cool love this song

  • Was in the Cock and Pye, Ipswich in the UK and asked for Farnham, when he came on the whole pub went fucking mad for him. The man is a legend. If I could of written any song it would of been this song. God bless John Farnham xxx

  • Ha, I used to live thar up until a year ago! Only been in the Cock and Pye a few times like.

  • Fantastic sends chills

  • SO LOVE John Farnham

  • Wow. It's awesome to see how everyone was into that song.

I've been to many a concert, and very seldom to the crowd really participate the way the stars want them to

When I saw Six Feet Under, it was like this.

It was awesome to see them participate like this

  • Lol it's refreshing to see someone who has seen six feet under live watching a john farnham video

  • Born in the early 80s, a lot of nostalgia for me :D. The Smiths, The Cure, I still love 80s music.

Brings back a lot of childhood memories.

  • love lovelovelove

  • looks like good crack

  • no wonder people don't want to go to church anymore.....

  • Awesome song. This would have to be my favourite song. I am really pleased to hear that the great man is touring again.

  • When he started doing harmonies at 3.40sec - that was just massive!

  • Great song, and I'm glad John Farnham is still in good voice to perform it.

  • I wish I was there for that.

  • SAAAMMMEEEE, Looked Awesome

  • what a voice....I love the scottish pipes in this song better though.

  • Yeah I agree. To have the bagpipers come out would have been awesome.

  • i recorded all 10 hours of sound relief and it filled 30% of my iQ's HDD... worth it! i now have it all burnt to 3 DL-DVD's

  • I saw John Farmhan live twice. Once in his last time tour and second when he toured with Tom Jones. And I'd still see him again if he went to Canberra,

  • damn. hes awesome. i thought someone had just put the original song to the video for a minute, but no, hes still got the magic.

  • I was at the melbourne concert and when this song came on at the band intermission, everyone, and i mean everyone, sung the chorus. Fucking incredible.

  • Dead Set Legend

  • How old is john farnham now? My gawd hes still got it lol

  • Today is his 60th birthday.

  • He has just recently turned 60.

  • PHAARK YEH!

  • Spine Tingaling!!!

Not many Greats can Move a Crowd like that anymore.

    A True Icon

I was only a young tucker when i first heard this but when i heard it again it sent shivvers down my spine, interprate how you will but for me its about us all standing together for a common good!

  • 3:28 lol.

It's like everything before then was just in a studio and fake and for a few seconds it cuts to the actual audience and they are like 'meh..NEXT!!!'

  • Or maybe it's a few seconds of the minute silence to remember the victims of the bushfire.......

    jeez go farnsie! =D

  • He's still awesome!

  • oh man his hair there sucks!! what happened to his iconic do?

  • It's called ageing.

  • i was there Live at sound relief, woow Farnzy forever

  • How many singers can sing like this and the same song like he did about 25 years ago?RIGHT!! THIS man is absolutely Fantastic!! So much power still in his voice, incredible! After I saw the video all those years ago for the first time on TV, I already thought this man has an Amazing voice and he still IS 1 of my faves and 1 of the very best in the world! And I'm from The Netherlands, and a lot of people here say the same thing! Mr.Farnham is AWSOME!!!

  • Also can be found-with additional commentary over there @ the church of (C/P lead singer)-

  • This is awesome! I think Johnny Baby has lost a bit of his vocal power but I think the crowd makes up for that!!!

  • gosh.. incredible!

  • Is it just me, or is John Farnham starting to look like Robert Doyle, mayor of Melbourne?

  • damn he still can hit those high notes! John Farnham rules!
