@tbone7281 i was just wondering if i was still runnin strong. I own a 1999 v6 that i got for $3900 came with Cai and true dual Flowmasters and its grown on me :) plus TMA is about to reopen his business so building the v6 is possible once again :P Ive save up $6000 so far so im almost there :)
@tbone7281 haha we are in the same boat i have every bolt on u can immagine now i need a new motor for my 98 v6 and then turbo if not twin then build my motor with parts from super six thats guna be a ways down the road tho lol
@232stang232 Sure, nothing is different for the turbo setupd, you just won't make quite as much power due to the inherent greater drivetrain losses in an auto.
Out of curiosity, what happens when you put 10 psi on a newer model 4.0L Mustang? Like a stock 4.0 with just intake/exhaust and a turbo pushing 10 pounds? Had someone claiming high 11s with a stock 4.0L motor with intake, exhaust, throttle body and 3.73 gears on 6 psi with a 72 mm turbo.
just out of curiousity what kind of rpm's are you spinning? rumors say the stock bottom end can hold up to atleast seven but porting the heads, spring upgrades and a cam are needed to get enough flow. i'm gethering what information i can before i tear into mine. thanks
My cutoff is 6500 rpm. I got my cam well before I had any plans to get a turbo so it's not really set up for a power adder. I have ported heads and upgrade springs but the cam really isn't set up to spin much higher. As it is, my HP peaked around 6100 rpm, but didn't really fall off much for the last coupel hundred rpm. Good luck.
Probably more like 6300 so as to not hit the fuel cutoff. Suspension is pure shit. Old ass MAC springs and original shocks. With a suspension setup for the strip I'd be close to 11's.
@JTsStang this run the 1/8 was 8.39@88 mph. Not sure if its ever run faster than that in the 1/8 since usually just look at 60' and 1/4 mile. But anyway, that should give you a pretty good idea of how fast your car is in the 1/4 unless it really falls off in the top end.
No problem. X-Calibrator 2... Andy from TMA Turbo had a base tune I used to begin with, then I took my car somewhere to get dyno tuned, again using SCT technology.
Yeah... didn't really touch it this year though. Bought a house instead. I have a manual steering rack that I need to put in so hopefully that will happen over the winter. :-D
Very nice, I am looking at a '00 v6 mustang right now, could i put it at 300 horse with out having to upgrade internals? I figured id need to do the clutch but i wasnt sure about the rest of the engine.
I found the site where u got ur turbo from. Are these kits bolt on kits for the mustangs or do you need to have it custom built? Which kit would u recommend for my car in the 4 to 5 grand range? Thanks :)
Damn... I responded but for some reason it didn't post. I'll make it short and sweet this time: Yes, it's a bolt on kit that Andy makes himself when you place an order. There may be additional parts you need to buy depending on how much boost you run.
I can't make your decision for you... you will need to figure out what kind of power you realistically want to make and how much money you have to spend. If you still can't decide what kit is best for you, I would suggest having a conversation with Andy. He will be happy to help you out and no one knows more about the TMA kits than the guy that makes them.
Not really sure... a bit over 10k on go fast/supporting mods probably. Spread out over 5 years. The turbo kit and supporting mods for that alone was around 6k.
Whoops, I accidentally removed the post from the guy who wanted to know about the 7.10 vs. 6.7... I looked at the slip and those are actually the reaction times. (So really they they are .7100 and .6736 seconds, respectively)
Nice pass get your 60' around 1.7-1.6 and you'll be low 12's all day.

why v6 did it start out as a first car that you got or did you know you wanted a v6 stang tuned

@rickg156 It's what I had. *shrugs* I had no intention to go as far as I did but once I started with bolt-ons it went downhill from there.

Yea I figured he would need a lot more than that. Probably just another internet bullshitter lol.

if the tires hooked up better at take off, you would have run a dead even 12 or maybe a 11.9

The mph shows bottom 12's if you hook out the hole.

@tbone7281 I run my car at 1/8th mile track because thats what I have around here. I was wondering what you were running in the 1/8th...et and mph??
I run a best of 7.89@89mph. Also make damn near the same power as you with a procharger d1sc.

dang that sucks. i am planning on turboing my car, and everything i am reading is using parts from that website.
do you know if tma is still running? the website seems outdated.
sandlot14e 2 years ago
Not sure... I would just send Andy an email real quick to see what the deal is.
tbone7281 2 years ago
does RPM-mustangs website work? i cant seem to make a account or anything.
sandlot14e 2 years ago
Looks like Mik closed down in June (for good this time)....
From the website:
Closed for business- 6/25/09
I'm sure most people have noticed that RPM has been closed for business
for some time now. I am now just keeping the website active as a technical
reference with the how-to articles and to document the progress on my
Mustang project now that I have some free time.
Thanks for everyone's support since June of 2000, it's been fun but it's
well past time to move on.

great job man. ill have to get some videos of my car up. So far its got all the boltons and a cam. Hopefully I'll have the turbo done by spring

You still doing the strip thing? if so, have you taken care of the suspension for better launching?

I'll be back at the track once I switch over to the manual rack. Haven't touched the suspension yet... bought a house instead. Maybe next year.

As long as you have a good tune the engine should be just fine at that power level.
