  • Can you read DVDs with the Bluray drive ?

  • @Skayzifly Yes.

  • @davomrmac Thank you :)

  • The cables you used for the Bluray drive. Did you buy it or did you get it in the package?

  • @JellySoldier in the package.

  • For security reasons!? Yeah coz nobody wants to steal a hard drive if u need to take it out of the plastic when you get home. lol

  • Do you have to be weary of the power supply when installing a optical drive?

  • whats ur mother board?

  • I bought the HDD here: www0newegg0com/Product/Product0aspx?Item=N82E16822152238

Do I need to buy the cord that you plugged it in with seperately?

  • @TehZebo it might come with one, but if not it'd only be a couple of dollars.

  • Can this optical drive also read normal DVD?

  • 5 people bought their computer at Best Buy...

  • I have the same blu ray drive for my pc. and it wont play my final fantsy advent children, complete BD. theres not firware updates to update drive with. Can someone plz help me. Thanks.

I have reinstalled drivers and used a different sata cable and its still not working properly. does anyone know why this is happening?

  • good news dave, you persuaded me to get the LG BH10LS30... thought i'd treat myself as its my birthday :)

  • @thedarknesspiczo I hope you enjoy it.

  • @davomrmac Is the LG CH10LS20.AUAU any good because I can't find any good reviews or descriptions of it and I don't really know that much about optical drives to judge for myself whether it's good or not. It's from Scan uk, so it can't be terrible.

    Thanks in advance

  • @EtienneLF Yes this is good drive. I tested an external equivalent of this and it worked fine.

  • Great helpful videos for a novice.

can you tell me if it is possible to setup a raid 1 for the operating system and a raid 5 with 3 disks for my data using the P6X58D-E motherbaord.

    Thanks

  • @ashish2012uk Wow, I am really not sure on this one. Anyone else?

  • @davomrmac what is RAID?

  • @Ryd3r22 A way of using two or more hard drives in a combination, either to improve speed or to provide backup of data.

  • @davomrmac thank you, but what is the advantage of 2x 1tb vs 1x 2tb? also this case takes 5.25 disk drives, those are hard to find, or can you use different size?

  • @Ryd3r22 Advantage of 2x is to stripe data, this is faster performance. This case takes 3.5 inch hard drives, so standard size and 5.25 optical drives which are standard size too.

  • @davomrmac i am going to be buiding my first gaming rig i need to know when i get my samsung blu ray drive can i use it normally to download the hardware stuff first and put in windows and all that stuff then install the software last into the drive so it can run blu ray movie?

  • @Amanofwords1 Yes that should work fine, it should be recognised as a generic drive.

  • I though your hands were when I saw the pink plastic bag

  • Hi Dave My dell seems to be having problems booting into my dvd drive when it comes to installing windows 7 so I am considering getting the blu-ray drive in your video just wanted to know did you boot the pc up from the install dvd and format the hard drive and everything using the lg blu-ray drive when you installed windows 7 and can the blu-ray drive play CDs or not.

Thank you if you have time to answer.

  • @PhilipOConnell Yes, the LG BluRay drive was used to boot from and install Windows. It also supports DVD's and CDs.

  • The drive does support 50GB Blu-Ray discs right?

  • @EverythingISTech and by 50GB Blu-Ray discs you mean a dual layer Blu-Ray disc right lol
