Damn uncanny valley keeps raising the bar. If a toaster imitated my movements, I'd fall over in my chair. Give it a human shape and my brain says "eh. that's hardly dancing. let's see it somersault and I'll be impressed."
@TheYoungshyne i too am getting tired of this robot, nothing really big has happened since it was introduced, it just got smaller, able to run, recognize people and other things. perhaps honda is on the verge of creating a new robot and soon will introduce it to the public, perhaps they want to make it perfect when they do
So it's not doing 1 to 1 movements but recognizing gestures and performing preprogrammed gestures of its own to mimick them. I think they are underestimating the amount of human understanding required to interpret appropriate gestures from text.
Did anyone else notice that Asimo looks like he is just sort of wiggling?
@illustriouschin Actually, the retargetting work is doing 1 to 1 mapping, but it's adjusted to respect velocity limits, joint limits and to avoid collisions.
