  • wow nice camera! and the demo is in LANDSCAPE good thing i have a laptop I place my laptop side way on the table, hanks to you

  • can you upload a step by step video of how to install this hero rom on my touch. im a serious newbie

  • What's up folks?

Let me start off by saying that I appreciate all of the support lately. It's been great responses thus far. Now, if you'd like to make a request or something you'd specifically like me to "bring attention" to, suggest it and I'll see what I can do. Thanks.

  • r the radio image and spl the same then the 1s use for modaco 1.5? or if not can i get links

  • modaco gave up on us, :( now who is gonna keep up the fight for us, who!!!!!

  • XDA?

  • can u explain to me what that is the madaco thing, i have a htc hero keyboard on my mytouch n what would this do>??? because now the hero keyboard on my mytouch doesnt work due to some unexpected error and it autocloses help me!!!

  • Modaco is referring to as Paul @ MoDaCo, which is a blogging, news, and information website about mobile operating systems.

This ROM has nothing to do with the HTC_IME. I'm not entirely sure why you're experiencing the consistent force closing issue you speak of. It would be a compatibility issue. If you're not a "root user" then it might not have the resources to properly function for everything on your device.

  • yes but it worked perfect until the new update that i did on my mytouch, then after that it wouldnt work it would force close everytime sucks man idk what to do i really like dat keyboard

  • If you're referring to the Donut 1.6 OTA update from T-Mobile, then you're not going to have compatibility until you fix the permissions.

If you're a root user, enter your command terminal application...then type this:

    su (enter)

    fix_permissions

Then let that process complete. Otherwise, you need to track down an updated version that is compliant with the 1.6 firmware. Cyanogen's ROM would be my suggestion. He has it available on his latest.

  • and what if im not a root user??? how do i overwrite the permission

  • Wow Chris got banned from XDA? Thats fairly harsh!

  • Yeah, no sweat though...he's back as expected. They wouldn't keep him banned for being opinionated. But yes, very harsh indeed.

Mikey is a tough cookie. (He's a Moderator over at XDA.)

  • Awesome:)

Havent got a link for 2.2enhanced have ya?

  • The thread is in the XDA forums...under the Sapphire development section.

It should be on the first or second page of threads. The only reason I cannot post the link in this comment is because it won't allow it to display. Lol.

  • can you please send me the link?

    thanks

  • I'm going to shooting a tutorial sometime next week. If I do not find the time to address everyone individually about an issue they are having with flashing this ROM or formatting partition sizes...then I apologize folks. I'm a busy guy.

    Best of luck.

  • You told me to send you some people who needed a help....

There are A LOT of people who need help. LOL

Its like a fulltime job! =O

  • Improvements in the process known as "BFS" will only continue from here on out. Therefore, you must expect kernel upgrades quite often, patches, ROM updates, etc.

I'm waiting for a developer to create ONE, completely epic, life-changing, perfect ROM for daily usage. It would have everything you need and love from the original Hero-based ports, and NOTHING you don't.

Fast, consistent, and ONLY got updated with the latest kernels, BFS implementation, and "new HTC features."

    Not a new build!

  • I understand BFS being new and of course there will be a lot of bugs to iron out...

ONE ROM to rule the world? Lol... Don't know if we'll ever get there... =p

So one thing I never understood is the definitions of some things.

Like what is a kernel, build, and ROM?

I mean, I use those words often but don't really understand what I'm saying... =/

  • BFS = in simply described terms; an "advanced task manager" that prioritizes the applications based on RAM usage and processor acceleration.

ROM = Read-Only Memory! Which is described as being memory whose contents can be accessed and read but cannot be changed. Which isn't entirely true in a MOBILE PHONE'S operating system. Lol. We can change most anything we want!

Build = the number listing the version that the ROM is said to be based from. (1.79, 2.73, 2.76, 2.83)

    (cont.)

  • As for kernel...

the kernel is the central component of most computer operating systems. Its primary responsibility is managing the system's resources. Which is a big fucking deal...that's why everyone is out to UPGRADE their kernel as often as possible. The kernel, more-or-less is what provides the "snappiness" and speed you witness within the ROM.

    Anything else? Lol.

  • I think that is pretty much it. Thank you.

    Hahaha.... =)

Oh! So the difference between a ROM and kernel?

And Is the ROM like the body of a car and the kernel is the engine components? =p

Also, so when you "upgrade" saaaaay... Modaco 1.5.1's JAC 1.6r2 kernel to a newer kernel, you're essentially doing a brain transplant?

Is it possible for a NEWER kernel to make certain things runs slower but provide other added benefits??

  • And I actually knew the definition of ROM...

Just didn't know what it meant in phone terms...

So the ROM would be like a video game and the phone itself would be like the Xbox... Android is the operating system like Windows, or OSX

    K.... I think I'm getting this a little more.... =D

  • emo, you got banned on xda? wtf

  • Ya.. Its silly. Then some guy was all up on my Youtube talking crap saying I had multiple accounts and he was gonna report every single one. Only problem, I only had one account, so a bunch of my viewers came back to me saying that got banned also for being reported as being "me" (multiple accounts)

Meanwhile this guy goes free to harass me and make false accusations.

Ridiculous how XDA lets this sort of stuff go on... I really think everyone should send them an email on how messed up this is =O

  • so you got banned just for saying modaco is better the drizzy?

  • Yup. EXACTLY. They said I "wasn't advancing the thread" after I only defended myself and never insulted a single human being...

Then some guy got REALLY mad about it and started harassing me and my viewers on Youtube reporting them to XDA that they were me on another account in which case, they got banned too.

I don't know who this guy is, but he's a liar and a d*ck. LOL

Can't believe XDA lets this go on.... LAME.

  • on my g1 its stuck on htc screen then hero back and forth over and over again please help me. it wont let me. thank for video

  • You should not have tried to flash this ROM without the correct and latest RADIO & SPL!

You will end up "boot looping" your phone or possibly even risk turning your device into a $200 paper weight.

  • Hey, I can't seem to find the enhanced version (e) over at MoDaCo?? Only see 2.2 for Magic 32B. Could you point me in the right direction please? :) Thanks

  • Do some thread surfing over at the XDA forums in the Sapphire Development section. You will find the MoDaCo 2.2 post in thread form, which he has hosted the files there.

Always read the requirements for the ROM to be functional on your particular device. There is a "G1" version ported for that device...which can be found in the Dream section.

  • And post this as a video response to my FULL review. =)

  • I went ahead and hosted each of those little videos as "responses" to your's. Enjoy the abundance of views your page will get! Lol.

Sorry about the delay today man, I've been hella busy with work, and spent the rest of the day with my girlfriend.

  • Ya, man. No problem.

Although I don't work on the weekends I too have a gf and a life. LOL

So I totally understand. Thanks for helping whenever you can. =)

  • It's all gravy.

I've been testing some of the latest Hero builds. I just flashed Evil Hero 2.7xx to my spare phone...pretty fucking sick!

Now, just got done setting up Micro Hero v1.3, which is quick, but somehow...SLOWER than MoDaCo? That doesn't even make sense! Lol.

I'm gonna' flash Drizzy's 1.5r1 before I crash tonight, just to be up-to-date on the recent releases. Lol. I'll let cha' know what I think.

  • Evil Heo??? LOL Sounds pretty sick. Hahaha... Who developed that?

I know there were problems with Micro Hero so I went to Tiny Hero and it was barely usable.

    It was a disaster... LOL

  • A guy who goes by "Evil" over at XDA.

His shit is brilliant. I've been following his progress since the earlier builds of his ROM. He based his entire project from MoDaCo's version of the 2.73 update! It's quite nice. I would HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who PREFERS system applications to be stored on the internal memory and NON-ODEXED applications for quicker response times and faster loading between applications.

  • I don't know what this "odex" stuff is but I've hear about it beforet..

Anyway, what are some of the pitfalls to having non odexed apps??

  • Non-odex based applications are slower, well theoretically they operate slower within the device. When you have an ODEX file to match the application, it allows the application to be stored on either the SD or internal memory, but will function significantly faster if stored to the internal memory as a system application.

  • Oh ok, I kinda get it now...

That's why I saw 2 files for every APP in the zip file.. An APK and an ODEX

Is that why MoDaCo 1.5.1 is so fast cuz I didn't see any ODEX apps...

2.2 had matching ODEX files though...

  • Exactly, the reason 1.5.1 moves as quickly as it does it for obvious reasons to an "experienced ROM flasher."

First of all, the god damn boot screen is "broken." Or non-existent. Lol. Second, there isn't animation or audio for said broken boot screen. AND - it's based from the 1.79 build if I'm not mistaken, so the ODEX files would only slow that down.

The reasons behind 2.2 not running as well on the G1 is because Paul stopped posted "upgraded" kernels for the Dream, but kept on for the MT3G

  • Well, I don't know how "experienced" I am.

But the audio and animation for broken boot is there, it just doesn't work. I know there's a fix but I tried the easy way unzipping the file then copying the 2.2 bootscreen files into the 1.5.1 folder. Then zipped it all back up and flashed. Gave me an error though when flashing. Boo...

Ya, that's the thing with MoDaCo 1.5.1, although its the best for G1, it will be beat eventually seeing how there are no real updates coming from MoDac's anymore =(

  • Several developers are using the MoDaCo ROM as the basis for their own. Evil did this for his latest version. QTek did the same.

The latest dumps come from Drizzy, usually...so that's the thing I hate most.

System dumps come so often, not necessarily "new" or "updated" because the "latest" possible version of the Hero ROM itself is 2.86 (unofficially, of course)

It makes it almost impossible to find ONE ROM and STICK WITH IT! Plus, BFS-230 was just implemented in JAC/CC's latest upcoming ROM.

  • Ya. I never understood that. I actually hate hearing now that Drizzy has a new system dump. I'm like, "Great. Gotta flash something new now." Russian. Chinese. European. =/

Ugh. I wish they would just work the hell out of a good one they have but whatever. I'm no developer so I don't really know what I'm talking about. LOL

I'll leave that to those guys...

  • poor chris getting banned.

they TOTALLY misunderstood..like must idiots do! lol.

    =/

  • Don't worry. He'll be back with his outrageous opinions. Lol.

They cannot keep him banned forever.

Anyway, he's a great guy. Keeps it rizzeaaal! Lol.

  • that modaco hero rom that emogamer showed off was by far the fastest i`ve ever seen online - absolutely no lag - he was flyin - i think it`s good for all of us - they can argue all they want over whos the best - dont care - just want the sickest roms with great features - cant wait for a hero rom with 1.6 :)

  • Yeah, obviously considering he used a CAMERA. Lol. I couldn't just now due to the fact that my camera is dead. Lol. But yeah, trust me...this build is just as fast...if not, even faster! It's based from the 2.73 "Nordic" update from HTC. It's very snappy.

As for the Donut Hero...as am I.

I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on that...when I know, you'll know.

  • right now i`ve got to download whatever cyan rom i want but still have to apply an update to port it over to my 32A - any idea when someone will compile a port that will be universal and board agnostic - not sure if the next hero 1.6 will be compatible with my 32A magic - any thoughts?

  • Concerning the multi-compatible function for a ROM or kernel...that is actually being worked on as we speak. The XDA community is always trying to better the functioning of ROM builds and how they operate on different motherboards.

I know that TigerTael and Redglasses will probably do the port for the 32A motherboards on XDA when the Donut Hero ROM is released. It might take a while longer than you'd like, but it will eventually be ported. The universal support for 32A and B will take a while.

  • awesome - that works for me - just needed to know the situation on that - thanks - i think those devs are doing a killer job and sometimes they dont get the respect they should from xda - just my opinion - cool - later
