...in which we were held up in due to the immigration hall being so full; baggage claim, customs, drop bags on another conveyor, up an escalator to satellite's hub, board the people mover to main central terminal, more walking (partly on moving walkways), down another escalator to baggage claim (again!), checked in with tour operator, boarded bus to car hire depot, before finally getting on route to the hotel! (on International Drive); whole thing from deplaning to hotel approx 2.5 hours!
When I last landed at Orlando McCoy at (Satellite) Terminal 4, the same one here (OK it was on a Britannia 767 charter from Luton in May '91), The airbridge / walkway / jetway physically entered the terminal at one level below the departure gate area (there's a ramp that comes down from there to the jetway), and international arrivals would go straight on a few feet, go around a few corridors (merging with other Int'l arrivals) and into a large(ish) holding room / lounge
Sometimes I wondering, when you deplaned at orlando, how did you get to the Immigration area? I observed the jetway, and it only connects to the departure lounge? Which way did you go out to walk to the Customs and Immigration area? When I saw a video of someone filming boarding the Virgin atlantic plane at MCO, there didn't seem to be a split path in the jetway for international arrivals.
@Spaceshotx7 I don't really know how it worked we just ended up in immigration control. There is a split somewhere along the way after the jetway I think there is a split, one goes up in a slope and that brings you to departures, then there is a turn that brings you to immigration
@Spaceshotx7 The immigration/customs section is in the main terminal building. When you leave the plane, you walk through arrivals building to the monorail that shuttles you to the main concourse. From there, you will encounter long queues as you proceed through immigration. Eye scans, fingerprints, and lame questions from the customs officers like 'why are you here in Orlando?'. Bag Reclaim is immediately beyond the Immigration desks. From there, follow signs and walk to the atrium/taxis.
i went to orlando on VS027 in June, and I was staggered at how straight the coast of Florida was. It was like someone designed it with a ruler. Orlando is a great destination, but it deserves a better airport.
@sugarcane0000 Orlando International, 747's are a rare visitor to Sanford as it isn't overly large. I've flew into Sanford a few times but the international airport is far better, and far far busier
Used to live in orange county oviedo florida and went with virgin. But live in stalybridge manchester uk now
