  • This mad funny. And that Vincent Ferrari guy actually is a faggot

  • People still use AOL? LOL

  • My Aol acount got hacked and the subscribed me to all these adds and I got at least 200 emails a day. I wrote an email to the Aol support system about this and all they did was apoligize. I am calling in tomorrow and now I am a little nervous. The hacker sent innopropriate and unexceptable emails to my family members and friends. It embarrased me so much that I tried to cancel my account. But of course it didnt work. I deleted all my contacts and changed my password but it still got hacked... I

  • Sometimes I like to go on AOL just to give myself the ol' low five.

  • well it wasn't like this was a extreme situation, AOL customer support was taught to keep customers at all costs because they knew that once a customer left they didn't come back due to AOL's poor customer support (as we saw). So they actually were taught, had classes on how to keep customers, playbooks to follow, to try and keep customers at all costs. Thus the reason AOL failed. You can't treat customers this way and keep them.

  • It's a big lie, the guy never got fired. If you call again, the same thing will happen and they will apologize again and say they fired the guy, but they never really do. Or maybe they did really fired that guy since it got on TV and the company felt humiliated, but if it wouldn't have got on TV, the guy wouldn't get fired. That's what the company taught him how to deal with clients.

  • The poor guy was just doing his job....

  • Lol fired for doing his job

  • i THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE GIVIN THE AOL GUY A CHANCE TO TALK . ... AND LET HIM EXPLAIN AND YOU DID NOT LET THE AOL GUY TALK

  • @pgsboy NO BODY LIKES PEOPLE WHO TALK IN ALL CAPS, WHO GIVES A SHIT WHAT THE AOL GUY HAS TO SAY. HE DIDN'T DO HIS JOB, INSULTED A CUSTOMER MULTIPLE TIMES, END OF STORY.

  • I cancel my account back in 2005. Had a lady stalking me online and they wouldn't do a damn thing about it. All they would do is laugh at me. I said cancel my account then, haven't been back since.

  • GAWD, just shoot me instead of putting me on the phone with one of these customer service reps. He was so condescending to this customer. Geeze!!! Like pulling teeth.

  • He was being to polite.

  • this was the main reason that AOL started outsourcing :D indians do a better job than others :D

  • he wasn't indian

  • AOL is a joke

  • I have AOL and I'm trying to cancel my aol account because it has been hacked into 3 times. AOL is not safe and AIM runs so slow.

  • this is the same as bitch as sky, if you want good service never go with sky

  • all fat people should cancel their aol accounts. This guy can be a role model. And stop blaming mc donalds or Aol for them being fat.

  • I am exp. same problem. They do not want give me access to my account, only if I accept new terms (Shows a future bills). Well I am trying to find a way to open, but they do not aloud to do it. I allready contact by phone but they don't want to help me. Well I think with all negative ways they are handling bussines they are going down, deep down. Well Is not a good way to make bussiness. All people is forcing to pay, even for drinking water. This is a sistematic way to rip off our money.

  • Ok, they must have been threatened by litigation or something?! Called the first #. Had to recall what phone # & primary email addy we opened the acct. with, (over 10 yrs ago.) Tried the shpill about why we should stay, I asked for the confirmation # again, & once in my hand, buh bye! Here's the info I had. Phone: 1-877-773-4462 2nd Phone: 1-888-265-8008 3rd Phone: 1-800-827-6364 Address: America Online PO BOX 17100 Jacksonville, FL 32245-7100 For Fax: 703-433-7283 More info: keyword CANCEL
  • I'm starting now for the gazillionth time to get through to A~Oh~L(et me go!)

I've attempted most everything, including talking to an attorney. Some how or another, they have never had me listed as an aol account holder, nor my husband who originally signed us up, they've lowered the rate after one phone call of me pleading to have it removed, after telling me the 60. something was removed, left out the part only the lower fee was to be ach'd..and next is a certified letter. Hope the addy is ok?

  • @binbleub4 I'll let you know the outcome of this quest from start to finish. And if it's cancelled, I'll share how I accomplished this feat. Pahleeeeeze let it be a person I understand completely?! Nothing worse than trying to argue your point with a person you're not sure what they've just said..it makes you uncertain if you're winning or losing the battle?!

And THIS is a battle of the most fit. If you're prayin folk, send one my way..I'm in no mood.

  • how the hell did he get an English speaking person/?????

  • Turning off the account would be the worst thing...

  • God I love American news, putting up a graphic of the minutes used up during the phone call and then giving the total minutes used, they really do like to treat their audience like children.

  • the guy didnt get fired because of his behavior. he got fired because he couldnt retain a customer. fuck AOL.

  • **he was like I can't cancel it and there's no point cos it ain't gonna sort the problem- idiot!!!

  • We had Internet with aol for some years and have had many problems. Our phone line us with BT- however my mum bought the phone and net package with Aol. This should have gone live 27th Oct. Instead our net and phone went down. After speaking to million different people, we got our net working but still no incoming calls and they said they can't cancel the package. Have up say the ones from India are polite, but today spoke to an english guy, with the worse attitude!! He was like well I can't ca

  • i worked for AMerica online in the Retention Dept. when this happened. i came into work around 9am, and getting calls like this

" thank you for calling AOL, how can i help you"

"ya i wanna cxl my account, are u gonna give me a hard time like the other guy, u know u on the news right now" LOL

    - i will say that we were trained to not to cxl with out hearing 5 no's...smh

  • Fat Fuck should shut the hellup, this guy was just doing his job like anybody else

  • @ThePaul57104 Fuck you. The operator is a slimy piece of shit. Kudos to Vince for being so polite.

  • AOL are complete cunts. FACT.

  • Assholes On Line

  • I kept calling to cancel, and they kept giving me free months. I didn't pay for AOL for just under three years.

  • AOL sucks...it literally does. I had the same problem.

  • I would have pushed to retain him just three times in a very polite way and then just give up.... what a fucking terrible customer service

  • Oh AOL. You're just full of bad ideas aren't you? I mean remember when you merged with Time Warner and your value dropped over $200 Billion? Yeah...

  • @tupac7817 We all hear you bitching. You are doing that right now so just shut up and go away.

  • wow... you could simply swap out AOL and insert Comcast.

  • AOL is terrible. They suck!

  • customer service is lacking in aol. you have to understand that if your in a servicing company like internet and telephone, you have to do what the customer asks. no question asked. unless the customer is a bitch.

  • fuck AOL

  • it is fake.. definitely fake..now come on guys!!!

  • @mrOutbackzack This is definetely not fake, When it happened it was all over the news and AOL's reputation was ruined.

  • @joshie92 ok joshie

  • why would anyone pay for a internet browser!? FUCK AOL!

  • @tallyhoman911 Oh ye don't even get me started on AOL..i had the dial up like in 2002 and it kept disconnecting every 20 secs..and when i tried to re-connect, it would say "please wait 2 mins after disconnecting, cannot connect right away"...Aol is still the worst company ever...I feel sorry for all the idiots who have aol...

  • I can't believe im saying this, but there is a company more shitty than Aol out there. They make the worst products and it breaks quick..Its called Logitech...I am more than a computer expert and this is the worst crap I have ever seen...Aol is just a joke...a total joke...Hp help support is a complete joke too...they don't even know how to access bios. Sometimes I wonder how these retarded companies become a spectacle.

  • This is the worst service ever. Logitech sucks too...don't buy their products.

  • @presstrigga whats wrong with logitech?

  • @tallyhoman911 Take it from a computer expert...They're are a spectacle to the market resulting into lots of people buying their products...but their products break fast and are made with very very cheap parts..don't ever buy logitech..just because its a big company, doesn't mean you gotta buy their cheap products that break quick

  • i dont feel bad one bit that he get fired, he should also have been put in jail for that.

  • == Survey much?

  • cANCEL THE F(!"#%& ACOUNT

  • I don't think I what a aol anymore

  • LMAO. I seriously wants to know who this call center guy is. He is definitely cut out to be suicide hotline material. Imagine how many people he would save!

  • aol

BATHING TIME KIM CATTRALL TIMOTHY SPALL

  • This brings back stressful memories ... I had AOL, and it was the worse experience I ever had when it came to canceling-

  • 49 people work at AOL

  • I remember when my mom tried to cancel our AOL account back in 2003 the person on the phone kept offering all kinds of free stuff so she would change her mind, like 2 years of free service and Free sticks of RAM. She had to threaten to sue them before they finally got the message

  • Ah yes, AOL, thieving swine, opened an aol ISP account , they took the first direct debit, the system didn;t work (not at all) so I was unable to look up how to cancel the service. I simply stopped the bank from paying any more, wrote to aol asking for a refund - anyone want to guess how much I received of the money they stole from me? The square root of buggerall is what I got. AObloodyEll.

  • i rember this aol crap its so fucking slow good thing i moved to norway the internet is sooo fucking fast here and cheap guess

  • What a nightmare AOL are. I call their 'help line' to cancel my account, get re-directed to every employee in their Indian call center, asked by each one the same questions over and over and over again, get transferred again, same questions again, etc, etc. 45 minutes later.....still no solution, still with AOHell...WORSE THAN ALCATRAZ TO ESCAPE FROM .......Steer well clear of AOL

  • This is a hacker...hotusaboi@aoli.com who will take over your account, so be careful

  • Wow he doesnt look like a Vincent Ferrari, looks like a Peter Griffin.

  • Having worked in a call center before (not AOL) I can say this is one of the WORST shows of customer service I have ever seen. I hope that in the five years since this video was posted, that AOL's customer service has improved.

  • @SabellaHalfdragon Sadly, it hasn't. I don't use AOL ( I use Virginmedia, thankfully ), but one of my friends does. He has experienced customer service which isn't that much better than this. That is why I would NEVER touch gAyOL with a 10 foot pole.

  • 48 people work for aol

  • This guy should be hired for a suicide hotline.

  • Why would anybody use aol nowadays? Every cable company offers internet nowadays. AOL was great in the early days of the internet, but those days are long gone.

  • I was going to get a job with them before and they really encourage this behavior. But still not as bad as Vonage and talking to the customer service over in India.

  • 3rd world problem = im dying, i need food. 1st world problem = it takes 20 minutes to cancel my aol account

  • Comment removed

  • Before Facebook Myspace YouTube AOL was the way to keep up with everybody.

  • Lol at tupac, what a bitch bitch

  • That AOL asshole's acting like a jilted girlfriend or something. When a customer wants to quit using your service, you don't argue, you just do what the customer says.

    -jcr

  • 21 minutes to complete a business transaction over the phone doesn't seem all that horrible to me, it's about what I would expect actually. The guy who wouldn't stop trying to "help" me would have miffed me off, but other than that I don't think it's all that outrageous.

  • I didn't have any problem cancelling, they do try like hell to get you to join..something...for just $4,$3,$2 etc..... a month, but just keep saying no thanks, and they will complete the call, give u a confirmation number, and that's the end of it.

  • I went through this too. Its so hard..I kept talking to people with a heavy accent. After about 30 min, they said it would be canceled but offered me more service to try to make me come back

  • Comment removed

  • AOL sucks!!!!! It has morphed into something directly opposite of what it was over a decade ago....fun, easy, and efficient. Now, it is prone to e-mail glitches, a trip & stumble browswer, and a completer wash-out as a social network. Wake up!.. you suits @ AOL, and stop playing your inner structure game of the "emperor's new clothes"!

  • Anyone recomend the best phone system with bidi bum conversation record?

  • Just wanted 2 warn n e 1 who sees this.Unless its the free version with DSL don't pay for aol.It fucking sucks.Their constantly fucking with customers shit.1st they erased all aol profiles when the bought Bebo. Then they cancelled everybodies aim chat. Then they switched from bebo accounts 2 LIfestream. Now they've changed the comment sections and become Huffington posts bitch as well as got rid of everyones avatars. Now you have to post comments through facebook. Its a pain in the ass don't buy it

  • The day AOL purchased CompuServe, I cancelled my CIS account. I Had a similar experience and this was in the 1990s!! I also had to get very clear with the rep what I wanted ... this is how you turn off a customer for life.

  • Comment removed

  • It's shitty that AOL blamed and fired 'John' publicly, even though AOL is the ones who make their reps use these high-pressure sales tactics. if the reps didn't pull shit like this, they would probably be fired for non-performance. FUCK YOU AOL, it's shitty to hang your employees out to dry when they execute your own policies!

  • @spires12 I would bet money that "John" was fired... and then quietly rehired a month later

  • Wow in that case im happy with ATT customer service. When i was moving to another home i needed to cancel my connection and it was canceled for 2 weeks until the 5th, I didnt want to pay for 2 weeks on a 1 month price, So i called and asked if anything could be be done, They said they will credit me, No problem. On the 5th i called again and the lovely lady operator gave me 20$ credit (my bill was 19$) No questions asked in less than 1 minute :)

  • @MiguelAMX1 That's because she rushed to help you and end the call, short calls have a minimum chance of being listened, so there you go. I actually work at aol tech supp, I'm from Romania. Maybe you'll reach David (=

  • guys if you want to uninstall it just us perfect uninstaller

  • @meankookoo I doubt the Ferrari car company took their name from, or even ever heard of him :)

  • I love how it becomes a massive philosophical debate..... trolls

  • i hate xbox for the same reason. try canceling a gold account. so damn annoying.

  • This is what they do. They make it as difficult as possible to cancel, and try to frustrate and piss you off so you hang up on them. Then you're back to square one.

  • The CSR was clearly in the wrong on some of the things he said. However, I wonder how much blame should go to the company. How much pressure do they put on their employees for canceling accounts. It is very stressful working in a call center. I've never worked for AOL so I can't say. I can understand asking the customer why he wants to cancel but after that he gave them the reason that should have been the end of it.

  • AOL - DO NOT USE!!!

  • Comment removed

  • 545 hours a month on AOL isn't that big of a deal people. I used to do about that all the time a decade ago. It took much longer to download stuff back then, and I had a 56k modem. Since it was a local number, the call didn't cost anything more staying on it, so I would leave AOL running all the time. AOL was my ISP, it's no different than any of your cable/dsl/fiber ISPs of today. Even your smart phones are constantly connected to the Internet, you just don't think about it

  • @tupac7817 Then you're a wuss.

  • It's so easy to use! And the surgery to implant it AT THE BASE OF YOUR SKULL IS SO PAINLESS, it's no wonder they're number one!

  • this dude should cancel his burgers

  • Had almost same issue with aol back in 2001 when they where still a big company now they are a joke in the internet game.

  • Screw calling I canceled mine online with no problem

  • About as bad ad canceling xbox live

  • LOL It's almost as if the AOL rep can't believe that anyone would ever want to leave them. It's been so long since AOL was even on my radar, and I never even used it. My parents' used Compuserve and when the put it up to me to continue paying for internet, I switched to a real ISP.

  • @47nameslater you're an idiot, the customer does not have to ask for the employee's consent as the employee is not giving any of his/her own personal information over the phone. Companies record these calls because they want to save themselves from liability reasons (aka customers flat out lying about what a CSR did or did not say). You must work for AOL, cause you sound like an idiot.

  • @47nameslater - seems that this gentleman recording the conversation was willing to take the risk to show the consumer (the world in this case) that incidents like this occur and that many of the reports from frustrated customers are not exaggerated or made up. While possible, it's doubtful that a judge or jury would punish this guy for what he did here.

  • @47nameslater Wow you seriously have no knowledge in law and you simply lack intelligence.

  • i didnt know aol still existed...

  • They are the worst I can't stand AOL

The own me a year of my money back and they only want to give me 2 months back to me. I wanted to get back to your money for my whole year.

  • They are the worst I can't stand AOL

  • 545 hours a month? That's not even possible in today's internet age. That equals out to 18 hours per day in 1 month. Nobody is online for that long no matter what your job is.

  • I HATE AOL ABSOLUTLY LOUSY INTERNET SPEED AND WHEN I TRY AND GET HELP INDIA TALKS TO ME WTF.

  • @SykoDerm Yeah :)) Maybe you'll reach someone else next time.

  • He waited a whole 15minutes?!? NOT FIFTEEN MINUTES!!! ANYTHING BUT FIFTEEN FREAKING MINUTES!!!!! WHAT WILL HE EVER DO TO GET THOSE MINUTES BACK!?!?!

  • This guy is a hero for recording the conversation. I still remember my AOL cancelation which was a nightmare.

  • "BRAVO, I'm the same. If I get excessive static from the other end, I mention: "my Attorney will contact them." Since I have their name & location & company, I have the EDGE. This works for me.

AOL always too expensive. I still have an Earthlink account I commenced with

11 years ago because They are COOL.

  • AOL is obsolete business.

  • and now i think abotu it, what kind of fat fuck uses the internet for 500 hours a month LOL

  • @zakkattack99 I was connected to the internet for 720 hours last month, as are most people in 2011. AOL is a company that was outstanding in the early 90s when the internet was brand new to everybody, so personal e-mail, basic stock updates, and a very weak search engine were incredible features. It was easy to use and relatively affordable, one of the first instances of internet software to be both. But...it was passed by dozens of other companies, and now sucks balls.

  • @zakkattack99 500 HOURS A MONTH christ i use mine for at least 42 hours a month and even then i my internet is wank.

  • the customer was rude lol. i would have told him to fuck off and doubled his bill

  • @zakkattack99 - Zak, how was the customer rude? How? He kept his cool and repeatedly made his request. The customer actually had no obligation to be polite, but he didn't curse the AOL rep out or insult him. Had AOL doubled his bill, the customer could have had easily started to plan a lawsuit against AOL. The AOL rep was OK up until 00:54. After that, he should have stated: "OK sir. Here is what you owe AOL for your final bill; and I will close your account. Thank you for your business".

  • zeroevildarkcool: Kiss my PUERTORRICAN ASS. yOU ARE A FUCKING ASSHOLE You are a subhuman asshole.

  • haha I remember my mom sent a very long email to AOL trying to cancel her account i swore it took her months to cancel they do not like letting people go at all!

  • CANCEL MY FUCKING ACCOUNT ASSHOLE GEEZ!!

  • PEOPLE ARE JUST ASSHOLES NOWADAYS BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE. WHEN I JUST TRY TO TALK TO PEOPLE ONLINE THEY WILL GET HOSTILE AND BAN YOU. I GUESS AOL COULD BE WORSE. THEY COULD SIMPLY HANG UP ON YOU AND TRY TO CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT. THEYRE A BIT MORE PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE THO. THO NOT PERFECT, GOOGLE IS A GOOD EXAMPLE. INNOVATE, PROVIDE GOOD SERVICES, THINGS PEOPLE NEED OR WANT AND ALOT OF PEOPLE USE AND THE BEST YOU CANT GET ANYWHERE ELSE. NOT ADVERTISING AND FORCING YOUR SHIT ON PEOPLE.

  • The fact that they fired the guy does nothing to reassure me. We all know he was under orders to go through that script; it's not fooling anyone and just further proves what an untrustworthy company AOL is.

The mistake by the customer was to allow the request to cancel be accepted or declined. If you have a contractual right to cancel there is no need to obtain permission. Just serve notice.

  • Ok !!!!'

  • This is a good evidence of how AOL actually works, they try to keep their customers at any price and the end of the story is just what we can see here.

I personally don't feel bad for that support guy, cuz giving this kind of "support" doesnt help at all, it just pisses customers off.

Seriously John, if you read this, FUCK YOU.

  • It took us for-freaking-ever to cancel my uncle's account after he died.... Their customer service used to rock. :p Or it did for me, anyway.

  • it's actually this bad with Xbox Live too. wouldn't let me cancel my subscription

  • Just a callcenter anonymus service like everywhere.

  • This news story signaled the demise of AOL. Also, the only Internet service that AOL could provide was dial up. If you wanted high speed Internet, you had to go to a local ISP, which was ususally your local phone company.

  • @collegeman1988 no they provide dsl but it sucks

  • This recently happened to me also. I dialed, got an automated hello, got HUNG UP ON WHILE ON HOLD, called back, (must've been wrong because I got "Thank you for calling 1-888-freesex, or something like that), and then finally got to AOL after calling again, then spent 25 minutes on the phone screaming at the woman on the other end. Still don't know if the actual account is deactivated.

  • The AOL employee was lucky he was on the phone.

A person saying that face to face is in serious danger of getting a beating.

  • why did the guy get fired. obviously aol pushes them to do that or the guy would be like ok i'll cancel right away. he still goes home with a paycheck, what does he care.

  • I agree

  • I can't get back into my account. They won't help me. They said I need to be a paying customer. Now I have no email. wtf. help me out AOL.

  • No company is too big to sue. Get a good attorney. Get rich

  • Wow I tell yea man. Some people are ignorent. I worked for services simular, And once its said it should be done. And herres a hint to all who have had AOL. You get to keep AOL for free after you cancell.

  • somebody step up and sue AOL. Get rich dude.

  • My training class for a company went over this. In Oregon and New Jersey you don't have to tell the person their call is being recorded.

  • @kryceksangel This is incorrect. State law can not override federal law. Privacy Act 1988, Telecommunications Act 1997, Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979. Those are the 3 laws that govern communication laws. in these laws it states "If a call is to be recorded or monitored, an organisation must tell you at the beginning of the conversation" If your company is not following these they are in breach of federally mandated laws. Your employer is mis informed or lying.

  • @leoleonardo well said :) and its true lol most companies that are fully legalized say that they are recording this convo for customer care purposes :P

  • wow I saw this years ago and it's weird to pull it up again. the letters "AOL" came to mind once more and I wondered what remained if their ruins.

  • wow I remember seeing this years ago. The letters "AOL" came to mind again and I wondered what was left of it. The past is so weird recalling.

  • Scumbags! I cancelled im May this Year and was still being debited in November. They put you through to a Call centre at 5p a minute and leave you hanging on for an hour. All this for a connection under 1 meg. Its criminal behaviour.

  • AOL is criminal

  • 4:14 Omg! a girl got killed!

  • actually a great employee

  • i have been with AOL since1988 last year, i wasnt using it at all because their software is slowing and freezing my computer, My credit card on file was expired and for 4 months i was getting messeges to put hte new credit card on file and i never did. finally they cancelled my account and i kept my aol mail names.

  • Forgive my ignorance, but do people still USE America Online? I haven't seen a commercial for them in SEVERAL years, and when people around me start bitching about their ISPs, it's always," AT&T sucks" or," Comcast is crap", or something along those lines. I thought that AOL was one of those obscure services that only a handful of people still use, like Alta Vista. And judging by this video, I can see why!

  • I remeber when i had aol, bad service and slow internet

  • AOL is nothing but a nuch of liars and fruads... who admited to me on the phone they put trojans on peoples computers and spy on them

  • @masayoshi4AiriKinos for real?seriously?Thats a criminal act!

  • @masayoshi4AiriKinos Not to mention that once AOL is on your computer , even when you think you've un installed it it's on for good, It gets integrated with all your windows files. The only way to truely get rid of AOL is to strip your hard drive and re install windows. It's nothing short of a legal virus.

  • Sorry ... Dont cancel the account . ! :)

  • It's hard to say if it's "good" the guy got fired. My guess is he was a scapegoat for an even larger problem where the company trains the employees to act that way. Simply firing him was just a publicity stunt to say "see we took care of the problem". You can bet they still train all their other employees to act like this in desperation to keep the rats from fleeing the sinking ship.

  • Haha my teacher showed this to us in class

  • @sweetbiella What was that class? What subject?

  • @thesnare100 Organization Communication :)
