The winner of Conference USA that year, Central Florida, played Mississippi State in the Liberty Bowl losing 10-3.
Tulsa played in Conference USA's second-best bowl, the GMAC Bowl and dominated.

ah...forgot about MSU being decent last year. They aren't relevant very often.
Ole Miss beat them 45-37 this past season(well, OM fans decided to give them 1 point for each total yard gained) lol
