  • Ok I've watched a few videos and I'm hooked. I've been bitten hard by the drawing bug and I think I've found my cure. Thank you!

  • Are you using two monitors, or just one? I'm having a problem with drawing far too large and wasting a lot of time having to move the canvas around, which is just skewing all of the proportions and motions I'm trying to capture. Just can't figure out a good setup.

  • ppl who follow crilley trying to learn something just are tards....those vids are a masterpiece to learn drawing!!

  • If you're posing like that then your anatomy is going to have lots of problems

  • what song/genre is that around 9:02 (the girl with the rabbit ears)

  • couldn't make it to quick pose night at Spring Studio, this was great

  • how did you setup the gesture pictures and the drawing program at the same time

  • Where did you get the pictures of the poses?

  • it IS way harder to draw with the tablet than pencil/paper...

  • Why apologize for your voice, or music?

It's your video. Of course people can C&C it... but you know what? They should live with it. You are taking time to teach us. They have the choice to mute or whatever.

People stop whining... get real. Thanks man!

  • woah...because of your awesome videos.....ie finally understood the conept of life drawing

  • @Sycra i couldnt quite hear what you said, whats the name of the program you use to digitally draw with? Im looking for a good one to use but havent tried any yet so i need to start somewhere. Thanks in advance

  • @ganjaguru820

    Adobe Photoshop CS3

  • i did this for 2 hours straight and not only did i draw some things i didn't know i was able to do but i had a blast doing it and it helped a lot

  • I want to know who the Bunny Ninja is beginning at 8:16. She really is a piece of Art, that really moves me in a way.... never mind. But really, who is she?

  • that site looks amazing! im gonna try it

  • great tutorial! thanks for sharing it! I'm studying art on my own and I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate gesture drawing in my art, and your video made it all very simple, much more than the books I've consulted. :) thanks for the tool tip as well, that site looks amazing for practicing!

  • Welcome back, Sycra.

  • Can you save the drawing AND the photo in your computer?

  • @masterchafas Yes You Can

  • THAT SITE IS SOOO HELPFUL! Thanks for sharing it and your advice on gesture drawing.

  • Thank you for this video and the link :)

  • This is too cool that I find your video on the day I learn what gesture drawing is XD. Thanks, I learned a lot and will surely practice.

  • Where do you find all these posing photos?

  • This is so helpful, you have no idea. I definitely need to do some 30 second sketches, I tend to get stuck on small details.

  • That is what I needed to see! I tried to keep up with you and at first I was getting left in the dust but near the end I got what you were saying I will be looking at this video a lot. Thanks for putting this on up.

  • t'would be interesting if you did the 2 steps, do the gesture drawing from a photo, then apply it to another character. though in a way your drawing is another character :)

for some reason that reminds me of the sculptures of Don Quixote made of iron, which are almost drawings

  • Hey Sycra...what's your nationality? im just curious. Fellow Canadian, who is also in college to be an animator right here :3

  • where did you learn gesture drawing ?.

  • ahahah oh christ I know what tool you're using too. I even recognized Ranum's photo in the thumbnail. Great tutorial on gesture drawing. I'm certain everyone will appreciate it and those that dont are just lameasses. Thanks Sycra.

  • 1:28 - that one was bad (as you know already) , but the REASON it was bad was because your first few lines were way of and you concentrated on wrong areas.

    .

the defining power lines are from his right shoulder-chest-abdomen-hip then a turn inward and a curved line to the foot AND the curved line from the base ofhis skull-shoulder-elbow then straight down- to the fist . the rest would "draw itself".

    .

  • Only one thing that bothers me is the background music in the vid starting from 3:28.

it's too loud that distracts me from staying focus and only makes it harder to hear what you say. it would be nicer if you keep the music down for viewers like me who are Not english speakers. apart from that, this vid is real helpful with full of valuable info on gesture drawings. ^^ thx

  • This is great. Thanks for the link to the pixelovely site, I can see that being quite useful.

  • I appreciate your videos so much. I'm just sorry I can only subscribe once.

  • Maan, stop apologizing! ;) Your voice is just fine and you actually DID those ones quite fast and well! ^^ Anyway, thank you for sharing! Very interesting!

  • Thanks for this great information Sycra. Keep up the good work man. :)

  • I love your videos Sycra, they really do teach me a lot.

You should do more like this.

(Also, I like your taste in music)

  • can you give me some advices of which software that help me creating my own pose? I used Poser Pro before but it's so complicated. Thank you :)

  • how do you make it so you keep starting on a fresh page after each gesture change? Thank you!

  • informative vid. i'm gonna have to mess with this website when I can't get to a figure drawing class. thx for sharing.

  • You know, I'm really not good at drawing - but interested and fascinated nonetheless. You really do have a way to give me something to take away from every video you post up here, even at a truly dilettante level like mine :) Great, great work!

  • what is good is that you can use this video to practice drawing and compare to what sycra is doing (is the action line I'm drawing the good one? etc...)

  • genio!!

  • Hey, I have been watching your videos for a while now, recently I have begun using digital tablets I am wondering what the setting you use for your brush is? My brushes always end up too light or too dark even when i vary my pen pressure.

Keep up the great work! :)

  • Thanks to you I want to play Suikoden 3 again ... but I sold it. Thanks for the Internet site, I'll go there pratice myself. :P

  • Woow, what kind of music you hear, i like it. :)

  • That was really helpful! thank you :)

  • What software are you using to draw here?

  • omg u just showed me a website that i desprately needed!! thank u so much!!!

  • Ugh! there is so much I need to practice. I don't know where to start!

  • Thanks, this was really helpful to me. I'm in a one day a week life drawing workshop right now. I really like doing gesture drawings. I still have a lot to learn though. I've discovered that gesture drawing has really improved my over all confidence in drawing the human figure.

  • I use a wacom tablet to, and yes it is harder for me also sadly, but Im sure I will get use to it after a while

  • I have been using pixellovely tool for months xD. I know every picture hosted lol.

    Thanks for the tutorial.

  • The ballet dancer seems to have weight and direction of movement ninety degrees off.

  • @madeye0 The ballet dancer at 7:40 that is.

  • It would've been cool if you put the name of the songs you use in the description like u used, cuz I really like your choice of music XD

  • is it just me or anyone else dont see te new videos on his channel?

  • Thank you, it was very helpful. I like your drawings more, they are more dynamic and graceful:)

  • I've never heard of this site, I've only ever used posemaniacs

  • thanks this was both helpful and a good reminder.

  • Very helpful

  • Excellent choice of music, as always. This is one of the best drawing tutorials I've seen.

  • great video! great lecture! super cool link of the gesture drawing! thx alot from korea.^^

  • Oh goodness, I love that drawing tool so so much!

I love seeing how you work as well, it's really interesting to watch your techniques in how you do it. Thank you for sharing!

  • You do a great job teaching about gesture drawing. It actually clarified me in a way that I can learn how to get better at doing poses. It's really great.

I actually like the music you have playing. :) Can you give me the name of the Artist?

  • your 100% right its alot harder to draw with a tablet it takes time to get use to it

  • thanks for the video !

  • gesture drawing with a tablet is way harder than with charcoal/pencil and paper hehe

  • this is great, thanks a lot! great site to practice!

  • Really helpful man :)

Thanks for taking the time to put this together for us :).

  • Lol when the Spiderman one came up was like "aaawwweeesssooommmeee" This was really cool, ill have to try this site out sometime. would really help with my poses and help make my comics more dynamic.

    Thanks for sharing

  • All may do basic guidlines well in drawing who are well in drafting :)

    Anyway, i think so.

  • WHoooa i love the ballet figure :D so smooth lol

  • Thanks, recently I've been neglecting practice like this.

  • You have a nice knack for teaching and explaining pretty well. thank you

  • So glade this site is being shown on your channel since it is such a big tool that not many know about.

  • @TheVoices297

Or, you could take practically any picture viewer, point it to your reference folder, and set it to shuffle on timer.

  • @karry299 I keep trying to think of how to point out how retarded that is but it isn't the face that you said "have a reference folder herp derp" i think it is more of the fact you are trying to say this program isn't helpful when it is more helpful than what you just said and more endorsed than some troll retard who didn't think his sentence through at all.

  • @TheVoices297

Yes, that's it, keep trying to think, maybe one day your brain will actually work BEFORE you speak. You're so dumb its adorable.

  • @karry299 lol sorry the amount of stupid that you keep spewing is making it hard to think of anything reasonable to say besides to swear a lot cause it seems like that would be the only thin you would understand. This program is a million times better than your reference folder i can guarantee that without even seeing yours. Why don't you spend 20$ or spend a few hours trying to get more images than it has instead of wasting your time and mine.

  • Love the video Sycra! I'm sharing it with my friends :).

Hope everything's going well for you, btw, and take care!

  • Sycra have you ever ready "FORCE: Dynamic Life Drawing for Animators"

  • i can never tackle gesture drawings - this helps A LOT. thanks so much!

  • whats the music btw? love it.

  • this video is just what I needed, thanks, helped me a lot =D

    you're great

  • Awh, I love this figure drawing tool. Lovely.

  • it's always nice to see how things are done. I'm not much of an artist, more of an appreciator, so I think it's cool to see stuff like this.

  • How did you get the model's picture and the blank page appear on the screen at the same time

  • This is great!! I've been looking for how to reach that "next level" in drawing and thanks to you-I just found it!-GESTURE DRAWING!

  • Thanks man, Very inspiring video and great drawings. good instruction too! great!

  • very nice it helped :D u should do a vid of using 3D shapes doin figure drawings :)

  • Very nice. Very clear explanations :P Great job :)
