The ability to play harmonics, finger pick a 12 string and tap a rhythm on a guitar all at the same time is no easy feat by any stretch of the imagination. The only person I would even come close to comparing as far as performance technique is the Classical Maestro the late Andre Segovia.

I am not a fan of the country genre overall, but I love Keith as a guitarist and as a musician. I think those who reject a genre of music like country categorically and unequivicollay are just as ignorant and blind as those who will firmly fight to the death for everything in a genre like country...

So each side can just knock themselves out shouting their stupid biases, or you can just accept that KU is an amazing guitarist who rises above his genre both musically and lyrically.

KU is simply stellar on the guitar. He is a god. It's a shame that people can't see past their prejudice against the genre he happens to produce his mainstream records in.

And also, you can't even call Keith "country" in his guitar style (with the exception of his album "The Ranch". He is more on the rock side (very much Knopfler). Brad Paisley, an equally amazing guitarist, is true country. Very different sound.

(aside from Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson) These days it's a fine line between rock/southern rock/roots rock... @xeric080 We could if they weren't similar. If you can't hear Knopfler in the melodic choices that Keith makes while soloing, you can just take his word for it. He often credits Knopfler as one of his biggest influences. I've heard them both in person, and Keith often goes as far as to demonstrate his proficiency in the MK fingerstyle picking. I'm not saying KU is anywhere near the legend MK is, but when I hear the outro solo for Til Summer Comes Around, I hear BIA and Telegraph Road.
