Eliminating the Dept of Education does not equal ending public education. Public school systems are nearly entirely funded through state and local taxes. The Dept of Education does nothing more than waste taxpayer money trying to tell schools how they should operate - and what have we gotten from this unnecessary bureacracy? The quality of education here in the United States has severely been eroded since Federal involvement began a few decades ago.
Then do it the legal way .. push for an Constitutional amendment. The people should decide not activist judges.

Paul has stated in past debates that the crime of abortion is done by the doctor not the woman having the abortion. So with that statement I would find it hard to believe that Ron has aborted childern.
I don't know if he's ever aborted any infants, but I do know he is currently against abortion. However, he has stated numerous times he believes abortion is an issue which should be given to the states.

RP said he has never had to perform an abortion and nor would he unless the mother's life was going to be saved by it. He also said that right now it is legal to have an abortion in the 3rd trimester. If someone kills a pregnant woman they are charged with 2 deaths. All's he's saying is that roe vs. wade should not be a federal law. That each state needs to make this decision. he's pro life but he's not trying to force his personal beliefs on all of us. Let the people of their states decide.

mrjewls, Defeat & democratize are two separate goals. There's not as much support for the latter, but the former is mandatory.
The fact that Ron Paul, or ANY Paul'ers, hasn't offered ANY hint of a suggestion of doing ANYTHING to address, or even acknowledge, the global plague of Islamic Fascism is the Paul(er's) fatal flaw.

Tyler-I agree that Islamofascism exists and is of very serious concern. We must monitor it and respond decisively to any attack or imminent threat. But overly agressive preemptive action is counterproductive. It feeds the IF's persecution complex and stiffens their determination. Ultimately, the IFascists will only be "defeated" when and if Islam experiences a reformation, which can only come from within. In the meantime, we should become energy independent and stay out of their neighborhood.
