He threw like 5 jabs against this guy. He needs to constantly throw and follow up with right straights.
This is the problem I find with a few martial arts practitioners today, they're all out to get gradings/belts etc which is good if you intend to teach housewives and kids, but for fighting it won't help if you do not have that killer instinct. This is something that can not be taught at any gym/dojo, it takes time and years of getting your arse kicked to develop it.

1. Most fans I know love for MMA pre-dates the UFC, for me it was SHOOTO (1980s) that got me into the sport not the UFC
2. UFC in 1993 was JOKE, it is under ZUFFA post 2002 that UFC is where it is today. ZUFFA could've picked up Bellatore or any other MMA organisation and made it the biggest name in town. UFC was the obvious choice back than since it wasstruggling and came at cheap price.

Turned out it was the opposite. Happens to all fighters though. Roger will learn a lot from this loss and become much better.

@misterblague01 No Roger Gracie's body is very good for boxing. Give Roger Gracie 2 years in boxing and give king Mow 2 years in boxing and Gracie will slap his ass wherever he gets him. He's got the height to defend himself and the reach to keep him opponents at the end of his jab. He's got the flexibility and stamina from BJJ too. But he needs to stay busy and throw more. He threw like 5 jabs against this guy. He needs to constantly throw and follow up with right straights.

This is the problem I find with a few martial arts practitioners today, they're all out to get gradings/belts etc which is good if you intend to teach housewives and kids, but for fighting it won't help if you do not have that killer instinct. This is something that can not be taught at any gym/dojo, it takes time and years of getting your arse kicked to develop it.
You can give Roger Gracie 2-10yrs and King Mo would still kick his arse in a stand-up.

1. Most fans I know love for MMA pre-dates the UFC, for me it was SHOOTO (1980s) that got me into the sport not the UFC
2. UFC in 1993 was JOKE, it is under ZUFFA post 2002 that UFC is where it is today. ZUFFA could've picked up Bellatore or any other MMA organisation and made it the biggest name in town. UFC was the obvious choice back than since it wasstruggling and came at cheap price.

Gracie took too long to go for take downs' all those years of Bjj everyday rolling on the ground and then u try to stand for too long against a fighter that can stand, it doesont make no sense man... @TheMagneto187 I agree 100% your analysis. That's exactly what I thought after I saw this fight. Gracie totally underestimated Lawal's skills. He looked a bit to relaxed here. In his pre-fight interviews you could tell he was taking this fight lightly. Pretty ironic that many thought Lawal was underestimating Roger's skills because of his pre-fight comments. Turned out it was the opposite. Happens to all fighters though. Roger will learn a lot from this loss and become much better.

@pcpdealerman I'd say his stance wasn't too bad. Generally on the back foot with his lead shoulder reasonably high, it was probably the only reason he lasted so long because EVERYTHING else was wrong....his footwork was a joke- repeatedly crossing his feet & bringing them too close together which led to the misalignment which got him KO'd and left him off balance numerous times before that
