  • I love you buddy!

  • what note does he play at 0:11 ? Im trying to recreate it in my C-tinwhistle and I cant seem to get it.

  • Hi,

Can someone more familiar share the abc notes for this music please? I really like this and I want to learn it.

I found an abc notes on the net but it seems not be for a D whistle.

  • it's funny how simple this tune is and still you can't find anyone on youtube who plays it well

  • darmok and jalad at tanagra

  • not bad

  • good job man, great

  • Fuck'in eh!!

    awesome

  • very good job man

  • Nice, ive been trying to learn this for some time, but i can never quite get it right :)

  • good jorb, but wrong key

  • lovely

  • Nicely done.

  • Please shave your beard and your head an try again :D I have a feeling it might just sound good enough to come close to the original then :D

  • Is that an Irish tin whistle?

  • Tony Dixon Alu High D

  • @shark1923 yepp

  • Very well Adrian! Very well!

Keep up the fine work! 5* of course!

  • Very nice I liked it!

  • You're no Captain Picard but still very good!

  • @crazyfool8839

i think he was Captain Picard!

  • The real whistle was sold for $48000 and could not be played.

You are actually playing the instrument type that were used.

  • The whistle seen in the episode was a penny whistle, & Patrick Stewart actually learned to play the "Flute Song" on it.

  • Really, that must have been hard considering that the whistle Stewart played wasn't actually even functional

  • The "flute" in the episode was only a prop. It did not play. Patrick Stewart was quoted as saying this on the Christie's auction special.

  • sounds best coming from the tin flute. Great

  • Not so raeanin, Patrick did learn to play the whistle himself. No music doubles or dubbs were used. He explains the whole deal in the "extras" for season 5 dvds.

  • Very good!

  • Wow, pretty much spot on! I've listened to a few of these here now, and I think this is probably the best (closest to the original) so far.

  • best rendition I've heard yet ...

  • the real instoment sold for 40 mill us so hard chance

  • It was actually around $40k, but its still a tremendous amount for a prop made from a tin whistle = ) Its not hard to believe though if you love the episode as much as many people including myself do.

I believe Stewart actually was learning to play the tin whistle for this episode, but in the end they used a professional musician for the final audio of the flute.

  • and the prop didn't even work. It was just a piece of tin/wood

  • wow thats very cooll sound good mate :D

  • Spack!

  • TELERAN! Lol, das is ja mal ein Zufall über Umnwege :D

  • Hey that sounds GREAT!!! I Loved that episode and that song I currently play the tin whistle but I have only been able to figure out the first part. Do you know of any tab/sheetmusic for the song I bought the piano version but I don't know how to transpose any help would be great Thanks.

  • Yeah I just wished the flute actually played I watched this thing and patrick stewart(Captain Picard) says it wont play..........

  • The sad part is there was an auction for the actual flute he used. They say the flute doesn't play at all. And patrick stewart didn't play the flute they just made it look like he did he didn't actually play the flute sry guys......:-(

  • it sold for 30000 U.S. sad right

  • this tune from that famous episode of star trek TNG shares its title with a beatles b-side written by george harrison.love this.

  • I would appreciate a better angle of the fingers, also what key is your tin whistle?

  • I use a High-D Whistle (in this video: Dixon Alu D).

I will try to record new songs with a better closup to the whistle.

  • hey Noverus

I want to know if you could send me the music sheet for that.. I have a slightly different way of playing it, and both sound so damn close, I would have to compare it with the actual music from the show to hear any difference..

I wrote you in the mail here on youtube about it.. so plz let me know.. juri

  • @Noverus OAK PUBLICATIONS PENNY WHISTLE KEY OF D was the actual model. The recorder was a Yamaha something or other the composer doesn't even remember from the interview I heard at a convention...14 years ago or so.

  • The real whistle in startrek wasn't even functional!!!

  • Sure, as often in Movies and series (Nothing real, everything a show).

Still someone had to play it with a real whistle :D

  • Do you by Any Chance work at Mill Creek High School????

  • Why do you think?

    I'm afraid no.

I'm living in switzerland and working currently as an application developer.

  • oh..ok

  • actually the instrument was a functional one off piece, its jsut that patrick stewart didnt play it. the them was played on that whistle though.

  • Actually patrick stewart had to learn to play that himself. Not sure though if he played it while filming the scenes.

  • real talent

  • Hi, Noverus you are the only person who can play the Tin Whistle, and get the Inner Light song right. You have real taent.

  • Beautiful! Great job. :)
