If you don't cast the line, you're not going to get more bites. If you're really not sure how it's going to do in the USA or other countries, then perhaps instead of pushing as much money into localization, and not giving yourself a shot by not making it friendly enough for other countries to play due to language basics, perhaps it's time to find the nice middle ground.
We see more and more games pushing multiple languages. Even if it's in engrish speak, how about basic text translations?
Japan is wondering why it's losing the market in gaming to the US. Perhaps because their own bitterness to not cast out attempts further where they could get a bite becomes a problem in it's self. Instead they throw us cookie cutter RPG's, rehash, and keep the things truely inovative, not the Nintendo gimick crap, to themselves.
Whats around the corner? Indie gaming forming a new domination as it realizes it's not just all graphics, but attemping the fun things gamers ask for even if not new.
@bradG91 I agree that this would have a place in the states. If not on console as much, the portable games would make easy ports and find plenty of homes. Instead of ignoring fans and shooting themselves in the foot by doing nothing for potential fans by withholding stories of the universe, making the few willing to go beyond to learn suffer, it's time to port out games and perhaps make them to begin with to house at least multiple 'text' language options.
Two patches are complete and all the briefing, tutorials, events and such things are translated 100%. The patch is awesome already, but it will be even more awesome when they complete these things this summer.
AFAIK, only the some dialogues with people encountered in bases, like Fort Monus. All the story, that is mostly in event cutscenes, is translated already. The patch is pretty much completed.
A translation patch? Now that is something I would love to get, the story sames to be very interesting... Is there a place where I can follow this patch, and know when it is done?
Super, I'll be looking so much forward to it, mega many thanks ^^ Course I have heard the story should be a lot better, then it was in FM4... So it was sad to hear the game never got translated... But very soon, everything shall be understandeble ^^
It IS a lot better, believe me. Not to mention the fact that the story of FM4 wasn't that impressive... FM5 seems to be the first FM with a trully great story, even better than that of FM3.
Agree it is a vast improvement over the previous games in almost every aspect (graphics, gameplay, story, art direction, .. etc etc).
But i feel the character designs are a bit generic ... i liked the characters from FM4 because they were interesting and varied (i.e how many games sport a french heroine with a nice accent) .. and the character portraits were very nicely drawn (then new 3D models aren't bad by any means but they lack the flare the stylish 2D portraits had)
haha this guy speaking in intro give voice to Taizo Hasegawa in ''Gintama'' anime

From there, if it does well, patch it.

Way too hard to take this seriously with the Japanese language. Couldn't help but laugh at the kid yelling for his friend.

I suppose it would be easier for you if they were yelling "F'cking piece of ***t" and such instead? -_-

Well, there is a Translation Patch in the works, no clue how far they're into it.

So, they have most of it Translated?
What's left to do, a majority of the story?
Fieryone233 2 years ago
AFAIK, only the some dialogues with people encountered in bases, like Fort Monus. All the story, that is mostly in event cutscenes, is translated already. The patch is pretty much completed.
SquareZone 2 years ago
Sweet, I'm sure I could find a copy of it somewhere, and make an ISO of it, then enjoy yes?
Tanks still a bitch in it like they were in Front Mission 4?
Fieryone233 2 years ago
Not really. Helicopters are pain in the ass from time to time, but enemy wanzers are still the most important enemies.
SquareZone 2 years ago
Ahh, I only ask cause I remember in FM 4 they could nearly blow an arm or leg off.
