  • Very good demonstration !!! How heavy is that flywheel ? ..20 lbs ?

    Thanks

  • @tonymac96 yep indeed well estimated. I gamble a Landrover Series3 flywheel does about 10 KiloGrams so times 2.2 is 22 pounds

  • @180964294 Keep the good work !!! and Happy New year...Tony from Puerto Rico.

  • @tonymac96 happy newyear to you too! Are you all the way on the other side ot the world n Haïti? waaaaauuuwww

  • @180964294 No... more to the east...in Puerto Rico (You might have confused Puerto Principe which is the Capital of Haiti). Puerto Rico is like a state from USA.

  • could you answer a question? why is the engine running counter clockwise when it is suppose to run clockwise looking from the flywheel position?...

  • @marksalot2116 Turning direction makes no difference in my case. It is determined by the position of camshaft to the position of crankshaft. By simply re-installing it 90 degrees shifted to the current position, it would run the other way. In my case; if I made the brass cams-tube repositionable between the two extremes, by rotating it over the camshaft axel, I could turn the engine around! A boat engine might use this to move forward and backward. Mmm'kay?

  • @180964294 Hello, very nice demo. I was going to attempt this in my distant past but was concerned that the input pressure would blow open the intake valve at suitable steam pressures. A developer in AU used the exhaust valve (with double cam lobes for 4 cycle but the piston had rods that actuated poppets in the head to alleviate this problem.

  • @HLABSINC by raising the tension on the inlet valve spring (adding some rings behind it) and letting it open just a fraction of a millimeter, inlet steampressure can rise upto 3 bars without problems. Above, indeed the valve will open by the steampressure, but I have no need to work at 3bar for my goal: producing some usable 12vdc.

  • I have a plastic cam gear how do i modify it?

  • @optimist4212 remove the plastic, with a lathe make a brass double ring replacement, with a hacksaw cut out two cams per ring with 90 degrees offset to eachother. File away until you get the perfect timing. See my website lamoer fr hobbies steamengines.

  • i did this to a suffolk punch lawn mower engine back in 2002/3 when i was 17

  • BTW what the hell kinda of B&&S is that i have never seen one with the dimetions that one dose like the huge exsaust port O.o

  • @xoxoXoieoxox Maybe this model (180cc) and type of exhaust is only on the market in Europe? Haven't got the exact modelnumber anymore. I was really glad with the low-budget camshaft in it that has the plastic cams on a steal axel. This way replacing it is easy. Thanks for your video responce in the other reactions, great!

  • so how may watt do u think ur making looks good i love the wooden head =3- y shouls make ur intake lobe taller might get more power???

  • @xoxoXoieoxox probably did not open up the textbox below the video? Under these conditions 55W lightbulb from car is easily powered. Inlet need not be bigger cause under steampressure things work differently (steam should be expanding in the cylinder, not earlier). Really appreciate your feedback though.
