  • You can land a jumbo fucken jet there tyrone HAHAHA

  • to slowly parking :(

  • Do you have to use the throttle, clutch and brakes yourself?

  • @ash7990

All the pedals you use yourself it's just the steering it does for you.

  • @CARmagazineTV Then what is the point.

  • is that only available on the european model?

  • look how big that space was my grandma could fit two cars in there

  • But what this truelly puts into perspective is the fact that cars CAN drive themselves. With a large fleet of automated Taxis Running on Electric drive systems, their would be no need to own a car. Just jump in the nearest taxi and tell it where you want to go!

The Venus Project, we have the technology. Let's all evolve to bring it to reality!

  • I reckon, Id be cool...

Pull up beside your park, tell the car to park itself. Jump out and head off to where ever you are going and let the car park itself

  • @halothreeaka3 I have the based model of the Tiguan - it doesn't have park assist.

  • Using a car's self-parking system is worse than insulting yourself... you think it's cool? Wait til it goes mainstream and people will start looking at those who use it are too stupid to park their own car.

  • Just wondering, if you turn that shit on at like 80 miles an hour does it park Ken Block style?

  • i heard he said "it's worse!"

  • bulls u can park the other way around!!!! UK rocks!!! I want to move there to avoid ticket!!!

  • carro de aleijado

  • Amazing technology. A vehicle with spatial awareness. Even if all it did was tell you the parking space you wanted was too small/inaccessible for your car, it's still useful.

  • good for my wife

  • People who cant park in that space without assistance really shouldnt be allowed to drive imo

  • @WTF12041988 i don't think i mind it. some people do take ages to park and if this helps make things run smoother then awesome.

  • i would like to see this tiguan try to do that in NYC, instead of having a parking spot that can fit 2 cars......in my opinion they should of just left it in the lexus rather then a VW

  • Yeah... in NYC they would have jammed 12 cars in that space... Some people are so hard to please these days!

Who cares how big the space was, if the driver needed to change gears etc..

The fact is, it parks itself, and this will help a lot of older people, or people with a disability.

Some of the comments here are rude and shameful... perhaps they are jealous that their own cars don't have this feature, or perhaps they will never be able to afford such a car?

  • where the fuck you see space for 2 cars?probably with back of the car in the street wich is not allowed

  • rita do itttt

  • In my opinion, people who require such system to assist them in parking their car does not deserve to have a driver license.

  • It's not about requiring this system, its about not having to do it.

  • If anything, priggish douchebags like you should be kept out of traffic. Just think of older people.

  • hiç inandırıcı değilsin dostum biz biliyoruz ki o araç sadece direksiyon hareketlerini senin için yapıyor onun dışında vites değişimleri ve gaz, fren işleri şöfora ait yeme bizi aslanım

  • actually the cars that are 'self park' cant do the whole thing by itself, u need to put it into nutral and then forward drive to complete, in a nutshell he edited it!!

  • He did acctually say: "Gear change there..." :D

    Just so u know. ;)

    Bu

  • that didnt make any sense. if you meant to say, is that car moving forward while still in reverse, the answer is no.

  • well wats wrong with my question ?

    the answer is yes

    watch 0:55

he's holding the paper with both of his hand while the car is steering left and move forward a bit .

  • The answer is No..

Yes the steering wheel is moving while he is reversing, of course.. so the car actually moves into the space..

AS you see at the beginning it tell you to put it into reverse, i assume it tells you to put it into first gear to nudge forward in the space..

They don't show this for that sake of well common sense maybe.. and saving time with filming and editing.. its a test not an instructions on how the car does this.

  • THE ANSWERS IS .....

    hehe

    aight aight

    myb u right bro

    thanks

  • lol, yeah i wasnt trying to be rude, just my 2 cent ;)

  • that was probably the easiest parallel parking ever....

  • i like vw

we even wanted to buy the toureg

  • british guy... so the parking direktion is all fine

but in smaler streets in England 2way parking is no problem

and no throttle and clutch ar to the driver (brakes too)

  • man.. u have got to be the laziest a55 driver to use this feature....

  • actially it would be helpful 4 my mom to see how the car does it so she can learn herself...

  • or unskilled...

  • Thats a huge ass space. Try doing it in much tighter spaces, the tolerances on these systems aren't high.

  • i've only seen this thing working in huge parking spaces... i wanna see this car parking in a small place

  • What? Is this true?

I just took a Tiguan for a test drive yesterday... why did I not notice the self-park function? Is this a European thing or do I just know even less than I thought I did about cars!!!!

    ha ha ha -- ;)

  • vw: great cars

  • does it do the clutch work too?

  • It worked and it still got you a ticket for parking the wrong way lol

  • LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • yeh.....

  • @INFLUXDMUSIC In the UK it's not illegal to park against the traffic. But this feature is silly...

  • @INFLUXDMUSIC This is England. You can park facing either direction on either side of the street.

  • I own Golf VI

  • they always demonstate these things trying to park in parking spaces that are HUGE. Lets see them try to do that on a real street in manattan with only inches to spare.

  • VW says it parks in space of car length + 1,1 meter.

  • a real street in Manhattan?

You mean a real street in Rome!

  • HHHHAAAAXXXX!

  • hey, i just got a 2009 VW cc luxury, i have rear veiew camer and front and rear sensors..but why dont i gave that feature??

  • I think CC is a great VW car. What do you think? I want one. I own a GTI by the way.

  • Sweet!

  • cool man , it comes with all the tiguan's versions?

  • no, not in europe though

  • yes they do, i've got one with the self-parking feature

  • .... They don't come standard in all the versions... Also I have one with self-parking function...

  • they are built in in EVERY version that comes with park distance control but you need to pay to get it activated.

I bought my car WITHOUT automatic parking and had it activated by a garage for 10EUR, instead of a few hundreds volkswagen charges.

  • Hey that is cool, but you still parked going the wrong way, you can't park backwards on the wrong side of the street. I guess they need to work on idiot proofing their parking space selection mode.

  • who cares. it was just proving a point

  • Drive on the opposite side of the road-park on the opposite side of the road. Just sayin'...

  • It was purposely done because it was the best space to "test" the feature.

  • Pretty darn cool . & that SUV is the same color as my Nissan Truck. I wonder what would happen if it hit another car, if it happens.

  • yes but you wouldn't need a "self-parking" car, if you weren't a complete and utter mong in the first place, if you learn to drive properly instead of Fucking yourself then you might actually be able to park properly, stupid four-eyed lysping git

  • "yes but you wouldn't need a 'self-parking' car, if you weren't a complete and utter mong in the first place, if you learn to drive properly instead of Fucking yourself then you might actually be able to park properly, stupid four-eyed lysping git"

Did you just call him "four-eyed"? WTF? Are you 9?! You honestly think an editor from Car can't parallel park, you blithering moron?

  • hey, politicians are in power, but that doesn't mean they can rule a country

  • "politicians are in power, but that doesn't mean they can rule a country"

Countries are ruled by politicians, by definition, you fucking dolt.

However, that's irrelevant. While the usefulness of this feature may be debatable (*cough*women*cough*), it's NEWSWORTHINESS is not: it's cool technology, a tiny glimpse of the future, and it's the JOB of an AUTOMOTIVE MAGAZINE EDITOR to report on stuff like this, so telling the reporter he should "learn to drive properly" is simply fucking retarded.

  • well actually i don't care

because you are the one argueing with a kid over the internet, so therefor, you sir, are a fool

  • "well actually i don't care because you are the one argueing with a kid over the internet, so therefor, you sir, are a fool"

Translation: you're a loudmouth idiot who just got shut the fuck up. Good riddance.

  • how did i get "shut the fuck up"?

and you are still argueing with a kid

    what is the point?

    lol

    cocksucker

  • "how did i get 'shut the fuck up'? and you are still argueing with a kid what is the point? lol cocksucker"

I thought you said "I don't care"? So why are you still here? Turns out you were lying to save face, huh?

The point is that you posted a babbling, retarded rant against the editor in this video, calling him a "four-eyes" (*rofl* are you in elementary school?) and a "mong" for reporting on a car with a robotic driving mode, which is interesting from a technology perspective alone.

  • UBIQUEROL: You don't seem to be a pleasant person. Where's all your anger come from old lad? Try to relax and not use bad language - it would enhance your credibility and status. Afterall, only the illiterate and uneducated stoop to bad mouthing when none is necessary.

  • so in the video the tiguan had a manual transmission, so does that mean you have to give it gas? yeah, right? this technology is new to me so im curious?

  • "it's worked"....wow i never would have guessed from seing the car in the space you pillock....i beg of you fire this man hes annoying and rather stupid

  • bull shit lol

  • perfect :)

  • did vw develope this themselves, or was lexus involved?

  • Can you stop asking the same stupid question... VW doesn't work together with Lexus. For your information Lexus got so good because it takes apart Mercedes cars and analyses what Mercedes does...then they copy it.

BTW: having lived in Japan for 5 years I can say with relative certainty that the Japanese have not "invented" anything significant. They mainly copy and improve already existing things. (Their language is also mainly copied from Chinese and Korean...)

  • actually the park assist measures the size of the parking first. if it cant fit, it wont allow the car to park itself. you still need to control the throttle but the car controls the steering wheel. Its great. i have it. I was the worlds greatest parker before, but this allows me to relax and not worry about making a mistake. its freakin awesome man

  • i want to see them use the auto parking in a tighter spot. hardly will you find such nice wide open parking spots in the city =/

  • good point

  • yes it needs pretty big spaces and a good driver can easily park faster than this. but i still think this is a nice feature and it will definetively become better and faster in the future

  • it could be a big challenge ..

  • did u notice something tho...he shifts into reverse using a manual shifter...explain to me how the car did all that w/ a manual transmission...

  • The Germans....Theyre Smarter than everyone else.

  • that was a huge spot!

  • ITS A SHEMALE!!!

  • works better than Lexus's system.

  • did vw develope this themselves, or was lexus involved?

  • i'm not sure. and i'm not sure either why i got thumbs down. it does. every test of Lexus's system doesn't really work. it backs it in the first part but you then you have to turn the wheel yourself and move it forward.

  • Actually VW Came out with the Technology first and Lexus Did exactly what Toyota always does....They take another Manufacturers idea and throws it into their cars. And if you have ever tried to Self Park an LS it doesnt work very well....if at all....the cars need to be perfectly straight and it just gets to be more of a pain in the ass then its worth. The VW System is FLAWLESS! My Uncle Lives in Germany with a CC and OMG So awesome....we get ripped on cars here in the US.

  • lexus is toyota....

  • Kewlios
