It's about the size of the thumb drive. Lots of similarities of a thumb drive or data drive actually. It just stores the music and controls power. The headset is the actual thing controlling the device. I like the new shuffle. Think that the shuffles are more the less for a person who won't lose things easily but is looking for something more than an mp3 player (something from apple) but less than an ipod touch. To be honest. I like the iPod touch the best. It's reasonably sized, and weighted.

@offroadfreak8582 you make playlists on itunes and if you hold down the button on the headphones it will beep after a few seconds and speak the names of the playlists. just click again when its the playlist you want. I have 2000 songs and just made some playlists of groups, fav songs etc... its good when you get the hang of it =]
