@megamind0001 It's not about the range of the speedboats. It's about the explosives on it. Many of these speedboats are even unmanned, so...you know what that probably means. During the Iran-Iraq war Iran managed to take out several ships by slamming speedboats with explosives against the hulls of these ships causing a LOT of damage. Not even a carrier can stop thousands of these at the same time. Combine that with a few missiles and those carriers will be fighting for survival.
Does anyone commenting about how the U.S Navy getting its ass kicked by speedboats realize those boats weapons have an effective weapons range of no more than a mile and at that range their rockets and torpedoes are very innacurate. U.S Ships weapons such as their ship to ship missles have ranges from 50 to 100 mile and more. Not to mention the close range vulcan guns and the shield of air power put out by the U.S carriers. Sorry Iran supporters but the hard fact us that the U.S will win.

@megamind0001 It's not about the range of the speedboats. It's about the explosives on it. Many of these speedboats are even unmanned, so...you know what that probably means. During the Iran-Iraq war Iran managed to take out several ships by slamming speedboats with explosives against the hulls of these ships causing a LOT of damage. Not even a carrier can stop thousands of these at the same time. Combine that with a few missiles and those carriers will be fighting for survival.

Does anyone commenting about how the U.S Navy getting its ass kicked by speedboats realize those boats weapons have an effective weapons range of no more than a mile and at that range their rockets and torpedoes are very innacurate. U.S Ships weapons such as their ship to ship missles have ranges from 50 to 100 mile and more. Not to mention the close range vulcan guns and the shield of air power put out by the U.S carriers. Sorry Iran supporters but the hard fact us that the U.S will win.

On behalf of the Iranian frigate. That CO has balls. We sent two of the similar class vessel to the bottom back in 88. He sounds confident. His bravado is not worth the political mess it would cause. Remember the USS Vicentes. It was a terrible accident but Iranian posturing caused it.

@arsacesofconcobar Vincennes straying 1000 yards outside the shipping lane did not CAUSE the shootdown. Equipment limitations, miscommunications, fog of war. these all contributed to the shootdown. IRG vessels were attacking merchants, then our Helo, then the Vincennes when she came to investigate. We were in the middle of a gun battles with swarms of IRG small boats and was radically maneuvering to keep the smaller vessels in the firing arc which is what caused the straying into terr. waters.

@Cg23sailor No. This is false. All of these useless details you've brought up have been conclusively refuted by the testimony of Admiral Crowe. The Vincennes invaded Iranian territorial waters and was pursuing gun-boats that were patrolling within the maritime borders.
There is no such thing as "fog of war" in naval warfare. Clausewitz-nonsense. The protocol on deployment and separation in armed conflicts without formal declaration of war is perfectly clear on this matter.

@memadmax69 Idiots like yourself fail to realize that Iran has now entered an exclusive level of ship-building through reverse-engineering. This organic type of engineering, along with the refitting of new missile technology will do Iran much better than to merely buy navy warships from countries of that particular tradition.
Furthermore, the ships were not obsolete during the 80's. I wouldn't brag about American participation in Iraq's expansionistic war against Iran if I were you.

@Kenzofeis Pointing guns, missiles and fire control radars towards other ships is against international naval manners. This is considered a potentially hostile act. Professional sailors avoid actions which could start hostilities.

@KB4QAA I have now traced the origins of this video. It's actually from a three-part documentary on the Iran-Iraq war (The final part, youtube it and see), a special report on the Tanker War. The Iranian captain did a correct job in scolding the thinly veiled American threat for attempting a closer proximity with a helicopter.
In fact, ironically, the Bandar Abbas Iran Air Flight 655 occurred on premises eerily close to the scenario portrayed here. 290 civilians lost their lives.
