  • Almost as good as Nick Cannon.

  • amazing!!!

  • this is before drummers believed in the god of muffling

  • God plays drum,

  • sry but the Sound of the toms is like shit :D Nothing is muffled, erxtremely the bass.. But good playing man !! Wohhoooo !!

  • And that's how it's done. Any questions?

  • Buddy would have killed at a blast beat

  • Buddy Rich > John Bonham

  • Come on Buddy - give it some welly!

    Great man - sadly missed.

  • 2:15 how did he changed the snare chain!??

  • @neri65 By the power of thought. Buddy can do that.

  • @neri65 when he hit the sticks together he was distracting u while he changed it with his feet

  • @theydidntnameme I saw that too. Nice.

  • One of the few occasions for us atheists to see something godlike in action :-)

  • lol

  • GEEZUS!

  • I'm no drummer...but always was amazed by Rich and his great snare rolls. No wonder this guy was such a huge inspiration for the likes of Neil Peart.

  • It really is quite a shame that true drum solos like these from Rich, Cole, Krupa and others are just overshadowed by the brain-washing menace that is popular music. I'm surprised that even my generation (i'm only 17 years of age) is clueless about music from the 50's, 60's, even 70's now. Even if kids these days don't like music from these eras, just show them one video, one drum solo, one tiny morsel of these legends of music and see what their response is.

  • @RhapsodyXxxOfXxxFire 18 year old mexican?? hahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

  • @bsm6776

Lol AHahAHAhAhAhAHa, now seriously i don't get it, what's the funny thing ?

  • crack. its got to be crack. omg........ O_o unbelievable....

  • sovrumano!!

  • El mejor baterista nacido en el planeta tierra

  • quintessence of evolution.

  • Surprisingly, Buddy was never able to use chpsticks when he ate Chinese.

  • he and denis leary look alike here, and the disturbs me

  • If you look close enough you will notice he was not a human being but some kind of octopus

  • I wonder what buddy would think of the metal drummers today?

  • holy shit!!!!!!!!

  • Hard load fast and accurate. Plus still beasting in the old age

  • I just wish that SOMEONE would have given Buddie' a pair of dentures that fit properly!!!!!!!

  • @vedderfan94 you dont like were drumming started?

  • @vedderfan94 Trvis? hes a giant but

  • Travis?get serious,who do you think hes chasing?ask him. :)

  • imagine, we dont need two base drums ,we just drum.:)

  • were all chasing him, like the MJ of pop. :)

  • can you touch this,be honest guys(gals)

  • demasiado del puccctas

  • 開いた口が塞がらない...

  • @syn0206drum hmmm...

  • @cadaverr Old man steptoe in a john travolta suit, this bloke was arrogance personified.Jazzy and dull. I say we should all burn his tutor books.

  • Awesome!

  • Imagine if he had a double bass pedal...

  • So who is going to watch how to get six pack abs after this. I know my fat american ass i am

  • Hate the sound of the Jazz bass drum.

  • @ireternalexistence opps cant tune?

  • The guy's in a 3-piece suit, fer Christs sake!

  • The best stick control

  • Vintage death metal drumming.

  • As a drummer, watching this makes my heart race because I'm always in awe of this man's amazing God-given talent! Of course, no one could ever really be compared to Buddy. As Gene Krupa once said, "Buddy is the greatest drummer that ever drew breath", & I believe that...doesn't matter what grip he used.

  • Those cymbals look - and sound - bloody incredible.

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk , comedia !

    toca de mais !

  • 最強。

  • amazing drumer

  • Buddy's version of Moby Dick......

  • @frankzappa71 Nah.

  • @frankzappa71 No, Moby Dick is John Bonham's version of everything Buddy Rich has done.

  • @frankzappa71

Buddy came before John Bonham excuse me.

  • @frankzappa71 im best drummers ofword im 16 years old i play like buddy i roll a lot on snare

  • Buddy is F'N AMAZING!!!

  • IM STILL GETTIN THE HANG OF THE PARADIDDLE WTF ?

  • Wow! even with a tie and jacket on.

  • @catfacesilvetdale

    1. No need to swear so much, he was making a joke.

    2. Travis barker is the drummer for blink 182, not GNR, that's Matt sorum.

    3. GNR is a pretty shit band so I know why you'd think buddy rich is better than him.

    4. It's really about showmanship, buddy rich has his humour and fast hands, but Travis barker has cranes that lift him in the air and he goes upside down and everything.

So think twice before you compare

  • Buddy owns.

  • @DrVonNostrand I'm sure you mean Travis Barker's trying to steal the old man's style.

  • the poor drumsticks must glow after that solo

  • Buddy claims he never had a lesson.

  • Rich switched to Ludwig when he was in his mid 50's. if that help.

  • He was probably close to 60 or so, when this showed aired. He was way past his peak, this is the old Buddy Rich, his speed isn't as fast.

  • He was no day at the beach to deal with but his drumming is unparalleled...

  • this is incredible!

  • with how fast his singles are he would be an amazing metal drummer. his blasts would be unworldly if he ever tried metal

  • holy shit... O__O *drumgasm*

  • CHOPPER INCOMING!!

  • do 15 people think that they can play better then this? well i have yet to see 15 solos that can beat this.

  • Never gets old

  • jetal=jazz metal

  • good thing his arms dident fall off

  • i find this easy to masturbate to.

  • class for sure! remember him as a kid . always wanted to play the drums but mom and dad would not let me. settled for trumpet instead. still in my mind best drummer ever!

  • Master.

  • His arms look as if they are in fast forward at some parts

  • Definatly how I remember him.... those suits were the cat's meow!!!! ty 4 postin!

  • WTF

    :|

  • Notice! He's not dressed like a friggin' slob and can STILL beat the ass off any modern drummer today.

  • @spahjrp Buddy Rich.... The first and Best metal drummer ever XD

  • I like the part where he goes:

    rat-a-tat-a-tat-tat-tat

  • I find this difficult to get any enjoyment out of.

  • Just shaking my head at this. Amazing.

  • how old is this person

  • @Gladiator9944 good enough to make his age irrelevant. He didn't care much for other people's expectations as he had his own strong convictions.

  • @cadaverr He was whiping out solos like this till he died of heart complications at around 69 I believe. Agee didn't matter to buddy at all

  • This person??? Man! He's Buddy Rich the best drummer ever! :)

  • @Gladiator9944, Buddy was sixty-one in this clip. This is from the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

  • @Gladiator9944 He was pushing 70 when this was filmed. (late 1970's)

  • @ces1drums actually early 60s.

  • @ss4david - yup - ypur right - got my math wrong. Died in '87, he was 69, so yeah - this was in , what 79 0r 80 so about 60 yrs old.... :)

  • Awesome.. sounds just like when they're doing construction by the roadside near my place.

  • did he die ?

  • @LeeAdamsNguyen 4/2/1987 at age 69

  • awesome

  • @marshalt Neither was Buddy about Neil.

  • Happy Birthday Buddy Rich!!!!!!!!

  • we get the pleasure of seeing him play drums regularly at the Bar at Bohanans with the South Texas Jazz Trio.

    It is amazing.

  • now that's a Drum Roll!

  • Is he kidding? A few great drummers, ONE BUDDY RICH !!!!

  • @LPDrummer98 no he just does a lot of visual stuff which makes him seem better than he really is to people like you who don't know anything about drums

  • Comment removed

  • @LPDrummer1998 Thomas Lang = prodigy. Buddy Rich = genius.

  • @LPDrummer1998 You're the only one.

  • @LPDrummer1998 thomas lang might be better yes. but lang would be NOTHING without buddy rich. rich was eons ahead of his time, and in some respects he still is. and besides lang is more into poly rhythms, and foot control because thats where drumming is going now. rich did things on the set no one had seen or thought of. so give the best your resoects

  • wheres your video mr. gardener???

  • holy shit

  • cool

  • In a fucking suit

  • Buddy was a monster. Legend.

  • i noticed Buddy is playing with a flat snare. Blast beats suck

  • AND THEN THERE WERE BLAST BEATS

  • can't imagine this guy when masturbating.

  • Buddy Rich makes every drummer I've ever heard look like a chump, and he makes it look like it's just a walk in the park.

  • @shortbusoneohone also buddy was never taught by anyone or given lessons this is all stuff he learned himself. a true legend

  • To "thecubanism" . . . I really can't believe anyone would take the time to write something so absurd.

You guys can't ridicule B's drumming, He was The Master - - so you talk about his posture, his hair pieces, his temper, the stupid fucking bus tapes, all that other shit that has nothing to do with His drumming.

Buddy was the Best, and many of you out there are just jealous.

None of this other crap matters - - we come here to see B's videos, not to listen to children whine about hair pieces ~

  • He has three arms, easy!

  • its all 6 stroke and flams

  • @MMJ420Gardener oh so you can play that too? so are a famous drummer too... i remember when i was immature.

  • @hobes9 yeah actually i can play a lot of this, not all of it but most of it, like vinnie couliuta said, :"drummng sounds complex but when broken down its mere nothing"

  • 13 peoples in the world are ill with envy or completely blind-dumb

  • Great , the best drummer in the world, spoiled by a shitty wig, Jesus Buddy, why take attention from your drumming talents to your truly awful hairpiece, I am bald, not famous but if I were you would love to be recognised for my undoubted drumming talents than my false hairpiece, anyhow Buddy, RIP, you were God on the sticks.

  • Good grief there is never a best !!! Never !!!!

When there is a best, there is always someone "new"...

There is always your favorite. That's all that matters.

  • IIIIII am the perfect person to comment! I know "just enough" about drums to know what sounds good!

    Good grief, here it goes.

    Bon

  • The Drumfather....

  • Joey Jordison's Grandfather

  • No drummer worth of respect would try to compare Barker to Rich.

And if you're not a drummer, sorry, we drummers will not argue with you about drums.

  • In a three piece suit and wig no less!!!

  • @TheFabFour999

i see your point. but you have to realize it's varied noise under a strictly diciplined rhythm, which is very much like music. Some people enjoy drum solos, like me. But i can definitely understand where you can see it as noise. Take for example a thrash-metal guitar sound... or a heavy metal "screeching" or whatever they do when they only use the vocal fry register. So its noise to you, but to us it sound slike music. And only buddy rich can play the drums like this

  • the best with humor in it. buddy was a god sent.

  • That bass drum sounds like an old tin bath with a dead cat in it. Can't fault the technical ability though. The man was a genius.

  • Brann Dailor's Grandad

  • I can barely tie my shoes in a 3 piece suit

  • I wonder what brand of cymabls those were in this video. I didn't see any markings.

He was a great drummer very strong grip for sure to old the sticks in a trditonal way and beat the snot out of everything i front of him...Amazing man!

  • TROLOLOLO guy play drums

  • What's amazing about this is his kit. 5 drums,5 cymbals,.2 sticks and Buddy made all that fabulous sound. Not 15 drums and 15 cymbals. He is truly a legend. The best is always debatable, but like Chet Atkins and Les Paul on guitar, often copied, but never duplicated. Buddy has been an inspiration for many drummers over the years and will continue to be.

  • I love the belly laugh in the background when Buddy does the stick clackety-tackety thing. Awesome.

  • Between 2:11 and 2:14 he somehow turned off his snare... He was the Houdini of drumming:)

  • @tevisboe234 to make room for Neil Peart.

  • I CAN TOP THAAAAATTT! NOT SWEAT! in my dreams....

  • Buddy, with his drum solos, were like a song within a song! While there are many good to great drummers, there will never be another Buddy! RIP!

  • its must take him 2 seconds to wack off

  • Comment removed

  • That is possibly the best drummer ever.

  • And in a leisure suit, no less.

  • trying to prove that there is another drummer better than Buddy Rich is an exercise in futility. Any candidate you put up will tell you that Buddy Rich is his idol. It's like saying that Stevie Ray Vaughn plays a better sounding version of Little Wing, that might be true, but only because he started with what Jimi Hendrix created.

  • how does the video to the right (This drummers at the wrong gig) have more views than this???

  • @TheClarkDrummer702 Because people care more for laughs than talent.

  • the best ever!!!!! amazing drummer!!! he have ritme!!! greetz magic

  • A true master at work. Need i say more....

  • 1:56 o.O

not the most impressive thing he does in this, but still. jesus.

  • When metal/rock began , the so called "drumming taletnt" already had existed. Nothing new , just better recording techniques and EQ may be but talent began before than metal. I haven't heard anything new that didn't exist before. Kickdrum, hihat, bassdrum, toms, snare and cymbals as known in the actual inception were known even before WWII. Otherwise let me know the links so can discern it.

  • And he does all that while wearing a 3 piece suit. Classy!

  • I'd like to meet the 13 idiots who dislike this video lol

  • WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • This guy is the supreme being of drumming

  • It makes me laugh when people say they'll learn to play like Buddy Rich. LOL.. It's like saying I'm going to play like Jimi Hendrix - you can't, you could spend your life trying to imitate it, but you'll never be this good. They are one offs, unique genius.

  • @Whatsitallabaaat Honestly, David Gilmour is a better guitarist in my opinion. Jimi was awesome, but not on Davids level. I think you could get as good as Jimi, but not as good as David.

  • @MrKadiddlehopper sorry but youre comment is rediculious to say the least,i love gilmour but come on dude.david gilmour would disagree with you.castles made of sand,if 6 was 9 ect ect.no one composed like jimi, and jimi knew music theory to some degree.watch hendrix improvise on acid in canada and youll change youre mind, unless youre in denial.

  • @MrKadiddlehopper Im a huge floyd fan, but EVERY SINGLE guitarist today takes there inspiration from hendrix! because he was the best ever, period.

  • 13 MORONS have no clue who the Master is!!! BUDDY RICH!!!

  • someone mentioned lars ulrich? lol what a fucking insult. Buddy is amazing!
