A stock 4 cylinder will do about 390 mile trip on full tank while a diesel will go at 500+. Some diesel trucks will get up 22 mpg!

@lb7boy a crew cab 4x4 cummins is 8,400lb the front alxe (dana 60) is about 400lb and the t-cass and front drive shaft is about 200. a solit non 4x4 front axle is about 200. do the math and i dought that is striped out. it has a licence plate and i bet it a daly driver... why get a crew cab just to strip it out when you can get a singal cab thats1000lb less to start with..

@KamikazeC1991 Nah, Weight isn't shit for those motors when it comes to hauling. Next time you get a chance to get in one tap the throttle and see how responsive the motor is. They're not exactly known for revving very fast. Gearing, lots of boost, and diesel will get those trucks moving. Stock they're by no means fast though. It's basically taking a truck designed to pull, tow, and haul and racing it. Gearing and engine tunes are different.
@7150285 You mean pickup trucks will lose on the top end. If you want a diesel to go fast on the top end, you just need to build the vehicle correctly for it, and give it enough gearing. When you have 1800+ ft/lbs of torque to play with, you can run ridiculously high gears(numerically lower), especially if it's in a light chassis.
@AmericanThunder well not really cuz diesel itself have a few great disadvantage when it comes to top speed 1. the RPM of diesel engine is always slower than gas. 2. diesel burns slower than gasoline. 3. diesel engine is really heavy. Making ridiculously high hears probably would help a little bit but the gear will wear out really quickly
@7150285 Gears simply trade torque for speed, and vice versa. Gears don't just help a little bit, they will drastically alter the parameters of the vehicle.

If I wanted the Cummins truck that I built to go 150 mph, it wouldn't be very good offroad, nor are 35" off road tires very safe at 150 mph. If you're building a vehicle with a Cummins in it, and you want it to go 150 mph for whatever reason, you simply gear it accordingly. Since a built Cummins can make 1000+ hp and 1800+ ft/lbs of torque, you certainly don't need to use gearing to make it accelerate quickly. This is basic.
both of their time are suppose to be really close, Honda is WAY lighter but have a WAY smaller engine and the Diesel truck is WAY heavier and WAY more horsepower

You will need a built transmission also, but I wouldnt suggest getting a dually unless you're going to haul, duallys have the same trannys and engines just different chassis, same HP and TQ as a SRW. No reason for a dually unless you need to pull or gonna do show.

The only thing you have to worry about with hondas is getting traction and putting power to the ground. @KamikazeC1991 Nah, Weight isn't shit for those motors when it comes to hauling. Next time you get a chance to get in one tap the throttle and see how responsive the motor is. They're not exactly known for revving very fast. Gearing, lots of boost, and diesel will get those trucks moving. Stock they're by no means fast though. It's basically taking a truck designed to pull, tow, and haul and racing it. Gearing and engine tunes are different.

@7150285 You mean pickup trucks will lose on the top end. If you want a diesel to go fast on the top end, you just need to build the vehicle correctly for it, and give it enough gearing. When you have 1800+ ft/lbs of torque to play with, you can run ridiculously high gears(numerically lower), especially if it's in a light chassis.

Making ridiculously high hears probably would help a little bit but the gear will wear out really quickly

If I wanted the Cummins truck that I built to go 150 mph, it wouldn't be very good offroad, nor are 35" off road tires very safe at 150 mph. If you're building a vehicle with a Cummins in it, and you want it to go 150 mph for whatever reason, you simply gear it accordingly. Since a built Cummins can make 1000+ hp and 1800+ ft/lbs of torque, you certainly don't need to use gearing to make it accelerate quickly. This is basic.

The truck racked out 217MPH. They later tested the fuel economy by running it at 70MPH in a 120 Mile loop. The truck averaged 21MPG. You will need a built transmission also, but I wouldnt suggest getting a dually unless you're going to haul, duallys have the same trannys and engines just different chassis, same HP and TQ as a SRW. No reason for a dually unless you need to pull or gonna do show.

Sorry I just have to vent somewhere cuz I live where everyone thinks a chip and exhaust makes a truck the fastest and coolest thing ever made. I do like the Chevy diesel because they are actually pretty quick and don't break all the time like dodges.
