  • Yo im a ww2 Canadian collecture and my unit is R.C.A.S.C. wich stands for Royal Canadian Army Service Core but the thing is i can not find any re-enactment web sites in Canada that has that unit do you now where there is some good web sites for it

  • @Brodie1942 "Yo"?

  • Very nice! My grandpa fought in trenches... sure not WWI, but Korea. He told me that they were pretty similar, though, with lots of trenches and everything like that. Is that so?

  • @Litterboxer529

Sure! Korea had a lot of static defenses where the troops dug in where they could. They may have not been as elaborate as WW1 trenches but a trench is a trench...

  • @PPCLIcanuck Thanks for the info! :)

  • I used to be a Lewis Gunner when it was still at Shimpstown. We always gave the Hun a good "pranging"! I can't believe I wore an original WW 1 SD uniform (made in 1915) and original P08 gear. Watching the stuff from Newville makes me want to get back into it! Time to bring back out the Lewis!

  • @monkeydanz

You're more than welcome to come down just don't wear the original uniform or webbing. That stuff is getting very rare and should be in museums!

  • I have been digging a real trench, 7 feet deep. It looks like an early 1914 trench, where the trenches was not that solid, but it's very nice :D not lying

  • I really want to do WWI reenacting. I've been in RevWar for 4 years now so I'm not new to the game. I'm 16 yrs old. How old do I have to be to carry a rifle?

  • For the GWA site I believe it's 18. Sorry....

  • @PPCLIcanuck

Do you know how i can get involved with this stuff?

I live in Indiana and currently do not have a job.

do i haveto pay to join?

  • @johnson1095, It costs money to reenact. You have to supply your own uniform, equipment, rifle, and tent. That can set you back $2k easily.

  • @RoyalFusiliers You might have more luck Doing WWII, I know most of the units are very flexible with the age thing. I have been doing events since i was 14. But its a year later and i bet you could get into a unit and they wouldnt mind.

  • Thanks for sharing that. My grandfather was a private in the 77th Infantry Division during WW1. I like to think I might have seen a bit of what he saw.

  • You are most welcome. Even though it was a reenactment we hope to preserve their history.

  • Would that be the New York 77th 'Liberty' Division? My great grandfather was also a private in the 308th, 77th Division. He wasn't part of the famous Lost Battalion in October of 1918. He was in a unit that moved into their position to reinforce.

  • Graybacks in a Front Line trench ?

  • If you are referring to the grey flannel shirts then yes. During hot weather with permission of the officer on duty we were allowed to remove tunics.
