A great song by a band that deserved far more success that they had. Not only is David Crickmore playing bass the wrong way around but the late Ian Nelson is playing his synth upside down (the keys are facing away from him and he's playing the underneath of it!). Talk about taking the piss by miming! Cool.
God the memories! I only heard this song bout 3x,and HAD TO BUY IT!!!!! i was a bit sad when it didn't do better in the charts! :-( but it's still a classic....where are they from? Dunno much about them? xxx
Just in case anyone's interested and wants tp spread the news, but the BBC are playing a "lost" Janice Long session by Fiat Lux on BBC 6 Music between 4am and 5am this Saturday Morning 22nd Aug 2009. It's got an acoustic version of Secrets on it featuring great sax from the late much lamented Ian Nelson. Cheers all!
I didn't know they were ever that big as to be on musik laden. That bass playing is unique - even a maestro like Mick Karn couldn't play it like that - with the strings facing him!
Yeah, and Polydor continued the "blue" theme when they threatened to publicise the song by giving away promotional bottles of blue beer. True! That and blue soap - "Lux" geddit? Shocking!
A great band who never really made it big. RIP Ian Nelson - the keyboard player on this performance - who died on his 50th birthday in April 2006. Notice that they're deliberately miming badly: Dave the bassist flipping his bass over so that he was 'playing' the non-stringed side and Ian playing what appeared to be a bare board! A great song from a great band.
great stuff- I remember seeing them in 1984 in Leeds at The Warehouse- great show- other hits I remember were Secrets, Feels Like Winter Again, and House of thorns. I think they were a fave of one BBC DJ but they never really made it big.
Excellent. This song is great. I like the way they made this show with a large sense of humour. The position of the mic of the bassist, The bass and the keyboard turned upside down, ... really fun. Thank you.

Is Steve Wright now leading a fake group of Easybeats impersonators, pretending to be Stevie Wright?

Great, I'm guessing they wanted to actually play but the studio wouldn't let them. "fuck 'em, we'll play our instruments backwards!"
