I love Kaufmann many times, but not here. IMO He has taken his NATURAL dark timbre and shoved it down his throat, almost like he's trying to emulate Hvorostovsky. especially @3:19. It's a shame, because I really do like Kaufmann's natural timbre
@msozturk a transposition does not mean you transpose your voice part down. That's all I'm saying. I'm not referring to the overarching quality of the song, just the placement and pressure behind Kaufmann's voice. It is a lovely sound, but it sounds somewhat artificial from how I have heard him sing in his lower register before.

Es un CONCIERTO para alegrar tambien a la gente, el tenor esta cantando en un tono menos asi que es bastante comodo para ambos, mas lo famosa que es esta cancion, se meten al publico en el bolsillo, que en el fondo es lo que quieren divertir a la gente......

Nevertheless singing is my mainfield to discuss and I know what I´m talking about- I don´t have to be cautious and are able to say WHY something is good or bad/ terrible; I do not see any problems with that. Yes, but to continue on the subject of Kaufmann. Ik would sure like to hear him live. It's very hard to judge his voice. I think he is quite an intelligent singer/actor but he doesn't really move me. Also he sounds like he is (over)-colouring his voice, which to me also shows in his facial expressions. Usually the face/body is a good indicator of vocal production and to me it doesn't look right.
Good point, overcolouring is the perfect word for his singing style; I saw some documentations and short-movies about him where I was able to see, that the nasal "standard"-technique to produce a bright sound, which is full of overtones don´t work for him; then his new teacher decided for him to sound more baritonal- with much more chestvoice and a artifical dark timbre- but the result is an ever strangled sound, especially when hi sings lyric roles!
The only thing what I´m writing here its the pure truth, don´t you hear his totally displaced style of singing? It´s so obvious, MANY people who have knowledge about singing have exactly this opinion and I´m in contact with singing EACH day because I´m a singer too so I think I know what I´m talking about!

Thats true but I take my right here to say whatever I want about a person, a situation (f.e. in sports) or an opinion of my choice; they have to deal with it as well I have to in future- if you´re in publicity you have to deal with it even if its hard for your mind- thats part of your chosen path. About terms like "furchtbar" we can discuss if thats the exact meaning of my thoughts, no problem, but I want to make clear, that critics and personal opinions are as natural as the sun and clouds.
Why "bitchy" because of an honest opinion??? There is no logic just to think your true opinion other than to tell it and on youtube each person has this personal right to tell his opinion- sure, in realitiy you have to be careful with which people you´re talking to but normally we all should be honest and fair to ourselves, otherwise we lie and betray each other! And in my opinion Kaufmann is totally overrated. He´s just famous because his voice is more darker than others, thats all.
Why do so many people confuse freedom with anarchy? Do you know the concept of decency, decorum? Why insult people who are not here? Why not say "I don't like him, I think his technique is faulty and he's overrated because...", instead of "he's terrible"? Why bring even more ugliness to this world?
Believe it or not, I thought about a "softer" wording, but it wouldn´t show my REAL opinion about the strength of performance- when I say" I don´t like him" it has nothing to do with his skills- just with personal feelings about somebodys behaviour- Hvorostovsky f.e. looks VERY arrogant to me, he´s simply overdoing it- he comes on stage like the worlds best ice-dancer and that makes me think, he´s the only one who can think- my voice is better than his, but I would never SAY and EXPRESS it!
You can have whatever opinion you like. What you do with it - explain why you have it, shut up, or whine on incompetency of people who have acheived something. All I can say is that I wish that there were less people like you, who make life a bit tougher than it is. Every time I'm in this situation, I remember my favourite Don Quijote. He was fighting the windmills, we are fighting stupidity, ugliness, ruthlessness etc. We must "fight the unbeatable foe"! Of course you have the right to say what you think, but you have the PRIVELAGE to feel that it's better to say it politely. No matter Mr.Kaufmann probably doesn't read YT discussions.

Amo a Hvorostovsky, pero no me gusta para nada el arreglo que hicieron. Un barítiono nunca puede cantar esta canción cómodamente. Además, Hvorostovsky tiene un ataque lento, y no le dan los tiempos. No me gusta.
Depende de la tonalidad y del barítono. Aquí la cantan en fa mayor (creo) y el barítono no se esfuerza nada. Tal vez a tí te gusta la canción interpretada por tenores (como a mí), pero el sunto no es de comodidad, sino del resultado. Saludos.

I just love this! everyone makes a good point, but then again, they are both very strong vocalist and have a very rich a unique sound.
It's rare you hear such a dark nd rich blend of the colours! This is great.
