@BigWolfApplications Not really because the errors encountered will be specific to your code and how you did things. There are giudes already explaining breaking changes between pc and xbox. As to how to convert you can do it automatically in Visual Studio. Under the Project menu there is Copy to Xbox 360. Otherwise just start a new project for the xbox and add you files to that project.
@sk8erpro10 YES, if your computer is not powerful enough to run XNA directly you can develop directly to the xbox 360 with the creator's club license.
@AaronPr19 It's free to do anything on the pc. To publish on the xbox you need to pay. There is a trial that allows you to try your code on the xbox but not publish. They usually give some of those code out every year to anyone signing up for DreamBuildPlay competition. There may also be a way for students to get these codes anytime but you will have to hunt for that information, I don't know if it is still offered.
@dying2l Pretty much. There are very little things that are different but unless you are doing something quite advanced you will not encounter them. Some of these thing are which surface formate to use when accessing texture data in the vertexshader or instancing.
@kyosho94 Yes you do, but you can pretty much get everything done on your PC and sign up only when you are close to release. XNA4.0 has gotten pretty good at keeping it all working the same as on the xbox. Back in the 1.0 days there could be major differences where you had to refactor a bunch of code if you didn't do it right but now it run pretty much the same on PC and 360.
Hi, I had an important question to ask and I was wondering if you could help. To do game testing with your PC to Xbox360, do you have to have XBOX Live in order just to test out your game project? Can I do what you just did in this video with XBOX live?
Can you post a tutorial explaining how to convert a pc xna project to Xbox?

@handkor tutorial for the wire hookups from laptop to 360 to make it work?
sk8erpro10 6 months ago
@sk8erpro10 It just goes over your home network, the xbox also needs to be connected to xbox live.

@handkor Can I use a Engine like Cube 2 and run it on the xbox 360 via XNA?
kid2matthew 6 months ago
@kid2matthew Only if Cube 2 itself was ported to XNA.
handkor 6 months ago
@handkor What do you mean ported?
kid2matthew 6 months ago
@kid2matthew I assume Cube2 is written in C++ using DirectX or OpenGL. It would need to be ported to C# and XNA.
handkor 6 months ago
@handkor Yes it is in C++ using OpenGL. How would I port it? is there some kind of program I can use to port it to C#.
kid2matthew 6 months ago
@kid2matthew You'd have to rewrite it all by hand.

damn this is old
Gamespflow 6 months ago
@Thedarkcountry No the 360 is heavily sandboxed, XNA is your only choice other than the official XDK.
handkor 10 months ago
@Thedarkcountry C++/DirectX gives you more power and lets you use the latest version of DirectX.
XNA is the evolution of Managed DirectX. It is easier to use but it is still using Direct 9.0c.

@TheSgtHoot LMFAO
superscatboy 11 months ago
@TheSgtHoot Yes I do. XNA is .Net.

What's the size limit for playing games on xbox?
Because if it's less than 1.0 GB, I'm going to be disappointed and try a way to stuff my 6.0 GB game into it somehow.
L3G3nD0001 1 year ago
@L3G3nD0001 Limit is 150MB for the compressed package. What sort of content does your game include? FMV?
handkor 1 year ago
@handkor Flash Movie Video?
Heck no, it's a full 3D visual First person shooter game at ultra high quality.
Think of this like Crysis 2. But better.
L3G3nD0001 1 year ago
@handkor
FBX, images, video.
It's pretty much a retail 3d game.
L3G3nD0001 11 months ago
@L3G3nD0001 Until they increase the size limit you can always release on PC. If you remove the videos how big is your .ccgame package?

So does/can the Xbox 360 XNA game launcher connect to the PC wirelessly?
aytches 1 year ago
@aytches It goes over the regular network. So if you are wifi, then yes.

@handkor cool, thanks for the vid and thanks for the response.

One thing this has left me wondering is, how many lines of code something of similar graphical quality as that?
paulmuseifu 2 years ago
over 9000
colinshark 2 years ago
Ouch! The most I've ever done was 1000 on a project - I guess at least this would be fun to make.
paulmuseifu 2 years ago
@colinshark !!!!!
part2themovie 2 years ago
To do this is around 1000 lines of code, or less, I never really counted but there is not much there.
handkor 2 years ago
nice! I might try and fiddle with xna at some point, nice video :)

z3ddrocksz 2 years ago
That demo is not available anywhere and since it was built on he older version of XNA it will need to be recompiled to run again.
handkor 2 years ago
The wired controller yes. Play and Charge kit only supplies power through USB. Microsoft also sells a wireless adapter for the pc.

You need the Creatos Club membership.

hay how did you make the window on the computer for the 360? I always wondered how to hook a 360 up to a computer monitor.

Looks cool - but you should have activated the Xbox Guide while you were doing that - can you still look at friend's list and all that during?
