never heard of this vince dimartino guy but he mos def doesn't look like he's playin when he's screamin but he sounds really good so far all i really consider is Allen Vizzutti, Wynton Marsalis, Byron Stripling and that one latino guy
I went to Eastman with these 2 gentlemen, and they are not only 2 of the best musicians ever, they are a couple of the nicest people you could ever meet. It's great to see this video of them together again.
i just saw vince dimartino at interlochen and at first i was like thats not him then i saw him set his embochure he always puts it on his lips and then adjusts it from an injury in college he is such a great guy everyone who can should go to interlochen music camp
Agreed, makes me sad to believe wonderful music like this is almost shunned everywhere I go in the US. It's horrid, especially when sampled audio is more "popular" than this kind of raw talent they have.
I think that question has been asked about 8749509347380587x times. Checking the recent pages of comments, its probably called "Fire Dance", by Al Vizutti or something.
I just came back from a music camp in michigan and took from dimartino for 3 weeks... omg hes so amazing he completely turned my playing around and improved my range from a measley high C to a comfortable double high C in two lessons. hes my hero (he teaches at centre college i believe, look him up)
Would anybody believe me if I told you that I will be studying with BOTH of these amazing musicians this summer!!?? I am! I was accepted into the Interlochen Trumpet Institute. Check it out.
DiMartino played a clinic at a local college when I was in high school, and he was a really nice guy, as well as insanely talented (he did a show with the college jazz band, and for some of the numbers he covered the piccolo part). Later that weekend he played a concerto with the local symphony orchestra, and I still recall that he wiped his mouth on his jacket sleeve, as he does near the end of this video. Great guy, great talent.
Nope, that is a Schilke S something(S is because of the thumbring). Monette got amado waterkeys and ovate tuningslide. And Monette is not as good as they look! I got two of them.. Hard to play in orchestra or hornsection. But nice looking...:-)
al has everything as far i am concerned. from his tremendous range while keeping great tonal quality of the lower stuff and amzing technical skills. listen to his version of carnival of venice the "Carnival of Venus and you will know what i mean.
Another thing that makes him amazing is his great showmanship. He truly is an entertainer. I played in an orchestra with him playing Carnival of Venice and he played part of it with his trumpet upside down.
