The difference between the two players is night and day. Some guys just aren't cut out for the NFL....Bosworth, Mandarich, Rick Mirer and Leaf were all great in college, but horrible as pro's. Leaf signed to a 31.25 million dollar deal with an eleven million dollar signing bonus, but threw a tantrum at a Sushi Bar when the team (as a right of passage) stuck him with the bill. He fought with fans, reporters and had constant on and off field issues. He's seen as THE biggest bust of all time.

If Manning would have went to San Diego and Leaf to Indy, SD would have been multiple Super Bowl champs and a possible dynasty, while the Colts and Leaf would have continued to be an NFL doormat, not gotten a new stadium, and would have been the next NFL team in Los Angeles. Dedication & maturity could be factors. Maybe the city, itself, played a part? All his home games were in California, where it's perpetually summer.  Might've facilitated a lax attitude?
