  • @kawlynn Alan Mills did record this song, but he didn't write it.

    Some historians date the song to c. 1861 and the heritage Newfoundland site dates it to 1869. The description of this video has a link to an article written by Edith Fowke that has the history of this song which rightly only notes Mills as a recording artist.

  • @kleinerdruide Ummm ... yeah, this song is about the then impending CANADIAN confederation of 1867, not the Confederacy involved in the American Civil war. So, if the South does rise again, it still be relevant to this piece of music.
