I have dragged the legend from the templates, have removed what info I didn't want but I need to add a new field to the legend, been through the help files but no information telling me how to do this, any suggestions pls?
@KieuBangChua Camtasia Studios, we used the trial version for the class. I'm not sure if there is a freeware version but chances are there is. You jsut gotta do some research and find one that fits what you want to do.
Nice Vid. I have 2007 and I love it., Re: 8:15Now if you want different shapes from different types (say Flowchart shapes and Brainstroming shapes), you simply open them from File/Shapes. If you like the set of shapes you've got going, then you can save them as as Stencil. You can import PNGs w/ transparency. It's pretty simple to pick up as a program. Of course then it's a matter of learning how to do whatever flow chart style you need. Thanks!
I question your response at the 8:50 mark, when you say you can't use other stencils for the same drawings. I have been using Visio back before it was owned by MS, and have never had any problems using multiple stencils in the same drawing. What version are you using?...I'm using 2002 pro and have not found a need to go any further. I do know MS made a lot of changes after the the 02 release which may be the reason you can't use more than one stencil. Nice job on the video!
I want to use the organizational chart feature but every time I am trying to use this feature I get stuck. During the organizational chart wizard (I think step 3) every time get an error message:Unable to read name from your file. Before doing that I read all the necessary information regarding this wizard (which is very simple to use). I want to use this feature badly but nobody doesnt seem to know the solution to my problem! Maybe you can help me!
I have tried both in 2007 and 2003 but I haven't managed to do anything!I do not why.And it is a very useful feature! What can be done? What does it mean unable to read names from your file?Thank you for your support.
I have not used 03 or 07versions so I can only guess. It sounds like it can't read info from another source...like an excel spreadsheet with employee names on it that you would want to place in an org chart.
I have to use Visio for a project and i was freaked out about it.. just by putting this up you've helped me out heaps, so thank you so much.. You're awesome!
@zeravlaj It definitely is not "just" about diagrams. If you look at it from an engineer's or a drafter's point of view, this is all they need to do pretty much 90% of their work. It can not only just do simple basic diagrams but can scale up to even designing an office space, your logos, and a whole lot of other stuff which would take you hours on a regular sheet of paper. Hope it helps.
hey brandon .. i have an interview 2moro and this guy asked me if i knew to use visio n i lied n said yes. n i wanted to learn wat was this visio ? ur video has helped me a big deal .... i owe u man !! ...thankssss a millionnnnn.....
Excellent video! I'm a Visio newbee so your video really helped me learn the basics of using this great app. I work in IT so your examples were very helpful. Keep up the great work!
One quick question about Visio. Visio saves to two different general formats, visio drawing and visio XML. Which format should I generally save to so most people can open it up?
Thanks! I personally like XML formats better (I use all the new Open XML formats in Office 2007 when I can), so that's what I'll generally use. One other question, what if the people I'm sending to have Visio Viewer? What would be the best format then? We try to get Visio Viewer installed on everyone's system. I like how Office 2007 now exports to PDF & XPS. So much easier to share now.
Don't think it would make much a difference it think. Unless they need to modify the file xml should be fine for viewing. Visio viewer jsut allows you to view visio files. so if its .xml they really have no need for it.
Fantastic! I'll just save to the XML format most of the time unless they have to edit my documents, which for now I seem to be the only person with the full fledged copy of Visio.I like the XML format.
Just started building my custom templates today so I can begin constructing my diagrams! I'm really excited about Visio & believe it will make a valuable addition to my Office suite. And your video really helped me jump in there & learn how to use it!

How do you record the presentation? How much does cost Camtasia? Is there a shareware software doing the same thing?
Thanks.

Well visio drawing is good if you have visio, but if the other people opening it don't have it XML will work. So i'd say go with XML
