This is an excellent collage of life in the shadow of the Himalayas. Can't you smell the plantations of ripening Darjeeling tea? And the open air markets, the music, dancing and life around this most-famous steam railway.
We had a short diesel-hauled run from New Jalpaiguri to Siliguri Junction, where we changed to our steam charter train which took us through the Siliguri bazaar and the forests to up to Tindharia, where we visited the DHRs workshops. We went back to our Hotel at Siliguri by coach and the following day our second charter ran from Tindharia to Darjeeling, with a break at Kurseong for lunch.
I suppose we were on the train for 4 hours each day.A wonderful experience.
Train got really hard time to complete the journey , need to repair to railway and get new rail.
