real good conversation, thank you. hip-hop is just another language, i don't think we need to compare it or divide it out as much as we do. we should respect skill and strive to speak well, but the message is the difference and the power that comes with it is not the same that the world comprehends or maybe we even do. hip-hop isn't christian, you are.
@SAOProductions1955 They still look to be here to me. Where were they removed? And what is so unchristian about disagreeing? We're all not convinced that G Craig Lewis is a prophet...there is certainly nothing unchristian about that. We can agree to disagree....but its VERY unchristian to impose your musical hang-ups on us in such an antagonistic way - when Scripture is silent on styles of music you should be silent too.
@SAOProductions1955 Really? Hmmm..my initial experience with HH as a little kid was PRE gangsta rap - in 1988 when it was more on the "droppin' knowledge" tip. And whoever said we "use" rap to "hook the world in"? Does an electric guitar player play in order to "hook the world in"? Have you ever considered that we rhyme in the same way a singer sings or a painter paints? It's what we do. If you want to be dogmatic about musical expression, provide Scriptures related to music
@SAOProductions1955 Furthermore, with all due respect, I would encourage you to do a word search of every time Jesus used the word "WORLD" and who he was talking to/about. You'll find it wasnt about the "hip" people of his day....it was the religious who He called "of the world". Certain "cultures" within the church have been stuck on a wrong diagnosis of "worldliness" as whatever young people like. Worldliness is a sinful heart....not a beat. That's Scripture.
Mike was SPOT ON! i love the diversity of lampmode....it's one of the reasons why they are among the FEW record labels i respect, THIS is what Christ wanted, unity amongst His body, love u guys
I am praising God for these brothers.. so encouraging! And the discussion about envy and jealously was something that Holy Spirit taught me too. I had to deactivate my facebook account over a year ago because to guard my own heart from MY OWN weakness and weak flesh that was so prone to compare my lives with others.
Tony I am praising God that your health is recovered-you look great! Jehovah Rapha, our God is so great!
Json-parent me was one of the only songs that made me break down cry while I ws watching at work.i was in a situation were I was only home for 6 days a month workimg out of town to keep my job with 3 young kids and a wife at home and I was at my breaking point.i was in a depression cause I was like why me father.i foind that sound on youtube and started balling.yal guys are real talk man.dont forget that.
I think we often misinterpret the nature of the flesh. The flesh is natural and for our good but its desires and its ways are extremely limited thus it MUST be in submission to the renewed mind. This doesnt make OUR spirit what we are led by but we ARE led by God's through a renewed mind.(even as God is not let by His Holy Spirit but by the Father who commands the Son in His triunity). When we understand our triune likeness to God, we are more precise in submission concerning authority.
Love this! Thanks for your ministry, and including the prayer at the end. Really important. You dudes are vapour in the wind, like me and any other dudes. Grass withers flowers fade, but the Word endures.
every gospel rap camp should have a chop-it-up session on video. the only thing close to this would have to be cross movment panel discussion (back in the day)
I just found out about this and I must say: this is absolutely AWESOME!!
Lampmode, if you are monitoring these comments please think about extending these conversations beyond the folks at Lampmode. If this is already being done, perhaps shoot us a link to check it out.
Also, creation of a website where the public can take part in the conversation would be way cool. Obviously lots of planning would need to take place to keep the talks constructive.
Praise God for Lamp mode Doing this, I was thinking that youtube was lacking something but heres something else that Lamp Mode is Serving us online by
@Hazakim Haha I saw S.O. looking around like huh? when he said that. But thank you guys for this and please do more. Timothy Brindle is such an inspiration to me. Glad he is back.
Lampmode sets trends and I love it! From waaay back with the common denominator show you brothers have been blazing trails! Bless the Lord for the examples that you all have set and are currently setting.
thanks so much for doing/posting this video! i learned something out of it too! I'm always glad to see other brothers in the faith seeking after God and wanting to honor him above everything else!
Wow..that's wussup. I was just speaking about this on twitter earlier today. How I feel like I'm seeing that the "Christian" entertainment industry (not just rap) is an industry just like any other. I'm new to the Christian hip-hop music scene so at times it's been hard to discern who is using their art (which is given by God) for God's glory ALONE and who's not. I appreciate this video soooo much. Thank you all!
I'm not an artist but a lot of what you've said can relate to any aspect of our lives - especially the piece on jealously and envy. Following individuals on Twitter who have hearts for God and are promoting Him is great but I oftentimes have to guard my heart against desiring marriages, relationships, and friendships that some of my Twitter family may have. Thank you for this. I'm definitely praying that God continues to cover each of you as you continue to glorify Him.
A lot of what you guys are saying really did convict me. As an artist I definitely struggle with pride and wanting MY NAME to be known and seen. Thanks for your transparency and your realness. I pray the Lord would continue to keep you guys and protect you all. God bless.
I can definitely relate to some of the struggles and temptations brought up. Thanks for being real!
