@dumitrescusa Pure hollywood, the blocking detachments were positioned usually 7-8 km behind the frontline, they did not massacre their men if they retreated, they rounded them up and tried them, most usually being sent to penal battalions but not executed. I'd point out that Germany executed 30,000 of its own soldiers during WWI.
Nazism was a cancer as well, but genocidal on top of it. Stalin and communism was the lesser of two evils compared to Nazism.

Prison Camps existed were jews were forced to live in disgusting conditions and thousands did die in these camps.... It's the things like gas chambers and ovens that raised doubts in respected historians. In the end no one can know for sure what happened except those that where in the camps.
