Looking for a moderately priced camera... can anybody suggest one?

@krunal467 If you want a small pocket camera, Sony's DSC WX5 or WX9 give excellent results. The 1080p video is considerably better than my Fuji HS20's and the point and shoot 'super auto' mode gives perfect stills time and time again. It's the best camera I've ever owned. In fact, it makes complete nonsense out of carrying around a large bridge - or DSLR.

this is a pro photography opinions. this camera is for a beginners,so some of you last issue is some kind of pointless (but i agree on all what you've said). If you take an overall look,for such price,it kinda value for money, especially for people that are turning to photography.

Alright so I have a little Insignia NS-DSC10B, but I wanna get a better pocket point and shoot. So I am considering a Canon of some sort. Then there is my Fujifilm Finepix S3380, which is my pretty much main camera, after the Canon I want to get something like this HS20. That thing is awesome!

I'm glad I saw this review. I'm also glad that most of my photography is still images, typically with a tripod. Looks like I bought the perfect camera for my needs! I've only ever owned two other digital cameras. The first was a pile of rubbish that broke the day after the warranty expired and the next was the FujiFilm S5700. Brilliant Camera, but lacking for my needs sometimes. 4 years later I got the HS20EXR and I'm very happy with it. I think it'll be a long time before upgraditis hits again

I just bought a HS20EXR, took a few pictures - but when I connect it to my computer nothing shows up in the FinePixViewer app for Mac OS X.. how do I actually get the images onto my computer? :/ there's nothing in the manual.

HELP!!!!!!!!

I am stuck between the Sony HX100v, The Fujifilm HS20 and The Canon Powershot SX40 HS. I do not really care about zoom capabilities but i do care about features, performance and especially IMAGE QUALITY. I am not a huge fan of using AA batteries but this review said that the HS20 lasts 3 days. PLEASE HELP. I do not no anything about photography and i am stuck. Hi - I have been using my Fujifilm S7000 for many years and I find that AA rechargeables (buy the best you can afford) last at least two weeks and AA Duracels (don't accept anything less). These are interchangeble with your External Flash units and there is room for two complete sets of new duracells so spares are always to hand.

I dont know if it helps you out now, but i think that the cons mentioned in this video are not as big as it seems. I buyed this camera and i shot photos abd videos. Maybe the autofocus jumps bit to far, but the rest i cannot confirm. The image stabilization is good, and the frames are clear. For shure, the image moves with a 30x zoom, but EVERY camera does. There is absolutely NO image stabilization that can stabilize a 30x zoomed in picture. Recommending the Finepix HS20 EXR for shure.

@WHK97 First of all, better than all the cameras you mentioned, you should get a DSLR .. Second, if you don't wanna get a DSLR then I think I'd recommend the Canon SX40 HS cuz Canon are the best in Cameras overall and he was talking about how good the SX30 was, how about the brand new SX40 then? @WHK97 You are not alone. Go to a photographic shop that has experienced staff. Ask questions about optics / lens quality, aperture range (affect the amount of light hitting the sensor), sensor size, pixels to sensor-area ratio (the more pixels on the sensor, the larger it should be). Then....try using the thing. Do NOT be afraid to try out the camera that you like. Take a card and ask the store to let you shoot some pics. Then take the card home and have a look. If you like it, buy it?

@SoundlessVoices Have you reproduced the videos on a TV and play well? If so, it might be a Codec issue on your computer. Try re-installing them again. I recommend downloading a codec pack like K-lite Mega Codec Pack. It's free, you can find it on the internet and it covers almost every codec you might encounter yourself with.

nice but what you failed to inform here and in your written review is that in all EXR modes apart from High Resolution the pixel count drops from 16 to 8. the output image is still excellent but folk expecting full resolution across all modes based on this review might be slightly disappointed.

I bought the camera and dust was under the lens in two weeks! I returned it and got another one and dust was under the lens in two days! It's a nice camera for the money. But to think how bad the dust would get over time and the effects on the auto focus? So returned it and went with the Nikon d3100.

@BOTx5 not at all. the hs20 is much better! and if the video mode is in continuous, it isnt that bad as he says it is in auto focus. the image quality is the best in bridge cameras though :)

@poatatoecouch7 it comes with a kind of "adapter" in front of the lens, but you need to buy a 58mm fisheye. And the lens itself doesn't help on focus in video mode. That is a setting issue and there's a way to fix it, just search on google or YT

@tripleL914 money wise! i'll rather go with an entry level slr on canon/nikon.. tried this camera.. the electronic viewfinder is awful.. plus you can't change the lens. Even in auto mode.. canon or nikon is better.. how much more in advanced settings?

By the way Canon SX30 has RAW too. Get CHDK hack for it and it will give you many more features than any other camera in its class.

Very good review... Coincides with users review on Amazon regarding focus problems. Bridge cameras are meant for good picture and video performance, if they lack in one then they not worth buying. I own a Canon SX 30is and I think it out performs all other bridge cameras in over all features
