Ritchie is Using Eddie Cocharn's Guitar.

  • cudo brawo

  • LA LA LOVE THIS ONE!!!

  • OMG Ritchie Valens was ever an awesome singer and he was so HOT HOT HOT. :)

  • That's Eddie Cochran's guitar he's playing!

  • Now lets go ! Ritchie on fellah Angelino Cochran's Gretsch 6120 wit Gold Plate Bigsby Bar - Ooh My Head ........

  • Could have only imagine what he could have done

  • Chuck Berry sittin' with Alan Freed

  • From the film Go Johnny Go.

  • Richard Steven Valenzuela

    May /13 / 1941 - February / 3 / 1959

    May He Rest In Peace

  • That was bad ass for it's day...

  • Is this the only footage of Ritchie Valens? I can't find anything live...

  • Yes, American bandstand footage of him was stolen along with Holly's and Bopper's after the crash. He did a few other TV appearances one even in color, but videotape was expensive back then and often reused destroying the original recording. This is why there is hardly any Johnny Carson footage from the Sixties. Hendrix, Lennon And MaCartney, and several others all lost.

  • ritchie valens broke that latino barrier doing la bamba, before that latinos even changed their names to sound white, after La Bamba, they all said fuck this. then the Santana, and Cumbias, and All the latino artist, linda rondstats started doing spanish music. This man is legend

  • i like 50s rock cuz it more original than today's

  • wow he acctualy looked young here,,,i guess that in the pictures it makes him look older......

  • two BIG thumbs up!!!!!!!!

  • Who cares of this is "lesser know" personally I like this song more than la bamba. It's pure rock n' roll and makes 50's pop look stupid, I love his vocals here too.

  • See Alan Freed and young Chuck Berry on the left side. In the same session Chuck did 'Little Queenie'

  • sounds a lot like Little Richard

  • this is great

  • Great master piece. The. Very first Santana or better

  • he made history

  • That video is a masterpiece!

  • RITCHIE IS THE BEST

  • @LuzMaria79 that sure is right the best singer i ever!!!

  • poor Ritchie and Holly... rest in peace guys...

  • what a loss he was. man,

  • Good to see a video of him.

  • led zeppelin covered part of this song on Boogie with Stu on their physical graffiti album.

  • This is one of at least two known videos to exist of THE Ritchie Valens. The other is from the DVD "The Complete Ritchie Valens", which features a couple of segments of home movies...in color! Perhaps one day in the future, those lost performances on "American Bandstand" and the short-lived NBC show "The Music Shop" will somehow (and unexpectedly) show up for all his millions of fans to enjoy. I sure hope so.

  • No none of them were donna....

  • He sounds like a honky here. Where is the homeboy accent from LA? Lol

  • THE KID HAD TALENT!!!

  • I love Ritchie....27 and I love him....this is one have his great ones!

  • This is from the movie, "Go Johnny Go".

  • Poor Ritchie...I really admire him, because he was a great musician and person and became really hight at a very early age. It's a shame he had to die at that age...I'm sure that if he was alive, he would be one of the big heroes of music like Carl Perkins or Little Richard. But of course, now he's part of the same legend :) Rest In Peace!

  • teenager back at '59 still had taste of style! :P

  • OHMYGOD.

    I must know:

Of the girls he's singing to, is one of them Donna?!

I will shit my pants if it is. :O.

  • lol

  • my involuntary bowel movements aren't humorous. ]:

  • This is the only existing picture of Ritchie.

He's 17 and this is from an Alan Freed movie

called Go Johnny Go also starring other rock

legends like Chuck Berry & Eddie Cochran

among many other well known artists.

  • The one video of Ritchie!!!! Fantastic!!!

  • he was only 17 years old

  • where can i find more ritchie's videos?

  • You can't,

This is the only one of him as other footage of him on Bandstand was lost.

  • @rfratin right here in this channel

  • Rest In Peace Ritchie

  • This is probably he only moving picture clip of Ritchie Valens, isn't it? Does anyone know if there are anymore? He sure accomplished a lot more during only 8 months into his career than most other people do!
