thanks for sharing. new pilot. instrument ticket my next step so this is very interesting to watch. Blacksburg sounds like a busy place. I'm out of Raleigh Exec (TTA). Pretty quiet except on sunny Saturdays when everyone's in the pattern at once. :)

1. I was on an IFR flight plan, so cloud avoidance wasn't a requirement.
2. I was over mountains and the minimum vectoring altitude in that area wasn't much lower than I was (keeping in mind the even altitude requirment for westerly flight). If the cloud layer had been more expansive than the scattered ones I dealt with, I would have climbed over them.
Yeah, they do get busy in the couple hours leading up to and just after a game at Virginia Tech. It's very convenient to have the airfield so close to the stadium. :)

@robertl30 Welcome to the ranks. :)
KBCB seems to be busy only on game day and Roanoke ATC and BCB ground crew do a good job managing the load.

new pilot and many questions only 12 hrs
what did ATC put you smack dab in the clouds/ceiling? I got a lot to learn so forgive me if there is a obvious reason. Thanks for sharing!

That's a great video! Love the evening clouds. Haven't flown down there from JYO. Will someday.

@N2369Z We flew out the next day. Warmer temps (easier plane start), good night's rest, calm winds.
