No one could ever count down America's favorite music and voice out 'ol Shaggy like Casey. This man was and still is one of my greatest heros. Waking up every Saturday morning to AT40 and watching scooby doo was my thing to do as a kid. Great, wonderful memories!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just saw Nick Palatas playing Shaggy in a TV Comercial, and... WTF? What kind of cheap imitation of Shaggy is that? Damn it, that's why I said it in the first place: Kasem is the only, one and true Shaggy. The closest to him is Mathew Lillard, who plays a very, but very well Shaggy. But if Casey did it for the new series it would be great though. Have you heard him in he's last Shaggy role in Samurai Sword movie? He doesn't sound old at all, he still does great. But ScottMenville? Billy West?
i want to donate now even though this isn't recent. and now he voices shaggys dad with lillard doing the young shaggy. good to have him back in any form. he still sounds like he could pull off shaggy to this day though.
Casey did the Shaggy role in "What's New, Scooby-Doo?" between the years of 2002 through 2005. The last I saw was that Casey officially retired from voicing Shaggy in 2009 during the character's 40th anniversary. Casey had stopped doing the voice for a period of time in the '90s, replaced by Scott Innes, but Casey made his return in 2002 and voiced the character through 2009. The 2009 DVD "Scooby-Doo and the Samurai Sword" is the last project with Casey as Shaggy. It sold almost 500,000 copies.
@ACcountryFan Yes, Kasem did voice Shaggy for the entire 'What's New Scooby Doo?' series including the related movies up to 2009. It will be(as of current date) the last TV series in which he voiced the character.
For the following 2 TV series Casey Kasem voiced a relative of Shaggy's. In 'Shaggy and Scooby-Doo get a Clue' he voiced Uncle Albert, and in 'Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc' he voiced shaggy's father.
Matthew Lilliard has replaced him as the official voice of Shaggy Rogers.
@TVSeries21000 scott innes, billy west, matthew lillard and casey have voiced shaggy they are all the best but nick palatas and matthew like almost alike
WTF I love casey kasem I can do an amazing impression of him too , but I never knew he voiced shaggy !

Casey Kasem, the original, one and only Shaggy. Nobody else can do it so perfectly as the original. Enough said
