This is LJ doing his thing, funky, dirty and freestyle lots of ghosted eight notes and funky blues riffs... love it. But to call it Lesson 1 is just plain dumb and a put off for new bass players wanting to learn some slap technique.

This is not actually a 'lesson' but a demonstration. This is from a Star Licks instructional video from the early 80s.

Louis starts the video by playing this bass solo. He then proceeds to teach the different passages as a series of licks that are written out in standard notation and tabs in an accompanying booklet.

I learned to play slap bass from this video when I was a teenager. Louis Johnson is still one of my bass idols!
