  • In doing my family tree research, I just found out last week that the gal actually doing the singing, Imogene Lynn, was my cousin. I had lunch with her brother Max last summer. He just happened to mention her in an email yesterday. I had no idea, pretty cool. You can actually see Imogene in another You Tube video by searching using "Imogene Lynn - Big Boy". She is singing with the Ray McKinley Orchestra.

  • Love this movie! =)

  • my school is doing this play and I really wanna be daisy Mae even though I already know someone else is gonna get it and the guy whos gonna be abner wants her to het iy too so whatevs

but I love all her song especially "namely you"

  • the first time I watched this movie was completely by accident (was flipping through channels and found it) but still fall in love with it :)

  • lovely, first time I have seen this .

  • This is a good song - I've never heard it before and I thought I knew all of Johnny Mercer's songs

  • Edie Adams did not play Daisey Mae in the film version.

  • I need those pants!!!!

  • she married the great writer richard bach

  • I am going to perform this on March 11 and12

  • "What you've got left over is more than what most folks starts out with." Haha!

  • whoa, you can see her ass like the entire time in this scene haha

  • That's back when women had REAL legs. Not these toothpicks they walk around on today.

  • @TomatoeAssassin Yep...give me that 30's to early 60's era woman every time. They had curves back then. These days, women are often so gaunt and boney they look like unhealthy 12 year old boys in drag.

  • @VandalStork they are also revered for their intelligence rather than their looks

  • @VandalStork I'm right with you, brother!

  • she is kinda old

  • Really, really cute.

  • best song in this musical :3

  • Al Capp, who created these characters, was a genius. And this musical is a wonderful monument to him. Dogpatch forever!

  • Bye Bye Birdie, Yer just no Match.

  • Just finished plays today :(

  • we did this musical my freshman year. and it was great!!!

  • good song

  • She was on an episode of the original Star Trek. I believe it was the Apollo episode.

  • Edie was a multi-talented woman; she was a great singer, comedienne and actress. She was truly unique.

  • im in lil abner as dr smithborn! im playin a guy! haha this is my fave song thoughh.

  • i'm in lil abner right now as daisy mae!

    Funny line.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • There are so many stars in this Julie Newmar(catwoman) Billie Hayes(witchypoo) Valerie Harper(Rhoda) Beth Howland(vera on alice) etc. Love this movie!

  • This musical needs to be better known! It's really great!

  • I picked it up by accident a few years ago. It's AWESOME!

  • me too...I love movies from this era...the best!

  • @slave2moonlight ....agreed! the only reason I've seen it is cause I accidentaly stumbled on it one night on TV

  • @lp4ju Same here, actually!

  • This is such a cute musical! I love techinicolor muscials. :]

  • Beautiful Leslie Parrish (Daisy Mae) gave some stellar TV performances. Notably, Star Trek (Who Mourns for Adonais) and Big Valley (Bounty on a Barkley). My favorite though is a Mannix episode (DVD, Season 1) entitled The Girl in the Frame. Its about a fake Renoir, a portrait of a beautiful, blonde nymph frolicking near a stream. Leslie plays the girl in the picture. How wonderful is that? A portrait of Leslie painted in the style of Renoir.

  • more could have been given her to do as an actress-she had more than the major studios was willing to admit

  • Anyone hace the film version of Jubilation T cornpone?

  • Would u mind posting "Jubiliation T. Cornpone" from the movie, if u could?

  • I think I can do just that, but I can't promise to do it soon. It might be a couple of weeks.

  • Thanks so much! :)

  • i think she and paladin would have been a cute together--he ain't cute--but--he got a banging body--and he would gave all the hot sex she need--she could look upon his sexy rugged face--because earthquake mcghoon look like a fat homeless slob--paladin would love her forever--and lil abner is cute--but too dumb and stupid for her --paladin is right for her--and smkart enouh too

  • leslie parrish is sp pretty --she also was at one time--a civil rights activist in the1960's

  • wasnt he also the host of Shennagins kid show?

  • 1. Stubby had two great performances in the 1950- this and Guys and Dolls.

I used to look forward to him being on the game show Stump the Stars. He was great at charades.

    2. You can't write this type of song today as the pronounciation in a good portion sounds like the stereotype used against Blacks. It would have to be cleaned up.

  • I love this song so much! my community theater is performing this play this summer and I got the part of daisy mae... i'm so excited!!

  • Congrats!

  • thanks! :)

  • I performed in this musical last year...didn't have a big part. I was just one of the wives, but hey! I got to sing "Put 'Em Back"! lol Fun musical. Thanks for putting this up. Good memories. =)

  • Yay!! Thank you so much!

  • Namely you has been posted. Check my channel.

  • just lovely! please post "namely you"!! this video is impossible to find here in Brazil!

  • Will do.

  • The scenery of this movie really looks like Disney took a dump on the Fallout 3 world.

  • leslie parrish is my cousin

my family never new where i got my voice then when we found out she was part of our family then they new where i got my voice!

  • Beautiful! But I wish Edie Adams had done the film version, too!

  • Leslie Parrish was absolutely slammin'. Mercy.

  • One of the best on screen Duets ever. I defy anyone to name 3 that are better.

  • Response to "Advancedatheist." | |

  • She's the purtiest thang I ever seed...:)

  • Andy Capp made a career of expressing his absolute contempt for white Southerners. The whole "Li'l Abner" abomination deserves to disappear down the memory hole.

  • Sorry, I meant Al Capp.

  • Very superficial view of Capp's material and typical of what you find on MySpace. You're obviously unfamiliar with Capp and don't "get it." Capp made many political statements here which have obviously gone right over your head.

  • try watching this while the same scene is playing on tmc, as I just did, stereo!Lined it up perfect.

  • That lady is spectacular.

  • This song is so funny if Marryin Sam fills his lines with sarcasm but if its empty the song is really boring

  • No offense to the lovely Leslie Parrish, but they should have kept the delicious Edie Adams from the Broadway play to play Daisy Mae.

  • They couldn't.

She was pregnant when the movie started casting/filming.

  • Wow! Some people will do ANYTHING to keep from being in a movie. :D

Seriously, I didn't know that. Thanks!

  • And ur in wisconsin?

    thats pretty spiffy. :D

    I <3 living in Milwaukee. ^_^

  • I'm in Two Rivers. Very small fishing village. Nice place, though. Very laid back.

  • This Video Needs to be re done

  • Relatively easy. If you're a member, at the top of your channel, just click upload and follow the instructions. It's pretty self-explanitory. Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for the 411. Ummm while I'm here, can some one tell me, in the simplest terms, what steps it takes to upload a movie, video to youtube. I have a tribute in mind (0ne of the ladies is actually in this movie~~Billie Hayes) but all the technospeak makes my head swim. How easy/difficult is it? Any people-friendly help is greatly appreciated!

  • Who is that woman? She's a really good singer. 18 is passed prime. I should've been dead a number of years back!

  • That's Leslie Parrish (singing voice: Imogene Lynn) along with Stubby Kaye.

  • STUBBY KAYE IS GOD!!

  • He sure is! He does bare a resemblance to Buddha ;)

  • There are also excellent videos on YouTube of him in Guys and Dolls and Cat Ballou with Nat King Cole.

  • He was perfect in Guys & Dolls. He just seemed like Nicely Nicely Johnson. Haven't seen Cat Ballou though.

  • Love this. But Edie Adams did it best.

  • To theatre2film, that is not Leslie Parrish singing, the movie company hired my grandmother, Imogene Lynn to do all of the singing for Ms. Parrish. There is a wonderful video here on youtube with my grandmother singing with the ray mckinley band, a song called "Big Boy." Listen and compare, and enjoy...

  • I do apologize to you and Ms. Lynn. Send her my deapest admiration, and tell her I love her singing for the cartoon "Red Hot Riding Hood."

  • Really?! Then I wonder why she didn't do more musicals?

  • Seriously!!! I think she had just as good a voice as the other musical talent out there, but musicals were on their way out. Pity.

  • Yeah it's a shame. Musicals like the Beach Party movies were popular but classy musical styles were done for a while.

  • Leslie Parrish was always stunningly beautiful & she had great legs. (She also had a lovely speaking voice, but that's obviously not her singing.) Her best movie role was in the classic (i.e.original) version of "The Manchurian Candidate."

  • I agree about THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, but believe it or not, that is Leslie Parrish's singing.
