And this is why mainstream gamers need to get their lips, zip-tied shut. The developers are testing the waters with different things to find a direction to go. If its not to their likings, they will improve on it or scrap the project. Its how we get great games. If you want something to cater to your gaming needs, go to the games that give it to you,and quit complaining about a title game you enjoyed in the past taking a different direction.

Ok, to all u whingers out there that dont like the direction Front Mission Evolved has gone, give the damn game a try first. Im a big front mission fan and was dissapointed to see it had not gone back to TBS/RPG - but when i played it (on PC) I fell in love, it is seriously fun. The guy playing this clip is a total noob and makes it look so boring and dull, but online multiplayer is intense as they come, customisation is brilliant and the game is all round fun. Would recommend to anyone.

About the only enjoyment I got out of it was an ironic appreciation of the hilariously bad dialogue
The whole point of Front Mission was that it was effectively a turn-based RPG/Strategy game involving mechs. That was the whole reason FOR getting Front Mission.
There's enough shooters on the modern systems. This is crap, because this ISN'T Front Mission in any way, shape, or form.
Seriously dissappointed. I was looking forward to another proper FM. Guess that's a dead idea, now.
i played FM4 on ps2 it was win turn based overhead rpg style tho but the story rocked

I think the game looks interesting, I would not have gone with a Front Mission Title. They could have called it something else and not gotten blasted but the Front mission community for it not being turn based, I loved the turn based combat. I think this looks interesting. But still in the back of my head I think, wow I wish it was still turn based. I will probably end up getting it though.

They really just copied the old Armored Core games but force you to aim instead of having a targeting zone... The Melee looks like it'll be overpowered since you can't get a good beat on someone so close.

something a lot of Game developers on top of that it gives run for the company to try out new software just to see how it acts and that fact that it not just one team making game like the FF series you got maybe 16 teams of 12 or 30 (depending on the scale of the game) making different styles of games to get more of us to buy their titles cause not everyone like RPG or Shooters

@M0RZINGER I doubt FME developers come here for suggestions heh, anyway FM world is pretty realistic world of "near" future and wanzers are called walking tanks for a reason You know. Some wanzers can have wheels, some can even hover but if I am not mistaken there was rather no such thing as a player controllable wanzer that was capable of real flight in FM games.
Hehe i know ur probably right about the suggestions, but hell u never know.
As for the wanzers i don't see why they couldn't be more mobile and agile, Chromehounds was a little to slow for my liking and Armored Core was maybe a little to fast. Somewhere in between those two games would be perfect.
As for flight im not talking about perpetual flight im more leaning towards short term "high jump" type of flight like a boost to get to higher elevation or somehing.
@M0RZINGER Well You can be sure that light wanzers will be fast and agile but it is different story with medium and heavy, also remember that they have still that "skate" mode.
About "high jump" well that is available, in Developer Diary 1 video we can see wanzer slowly moving in air for a short time while shooting. Can't say I like that but I can live with that.

As an Armored Core Fan i must say that i am very happy with the direction of Front Mission Evolved. I need a mech customization game, and am glad that they postponed release so they could polish things up.
A few suggestions, make Mechs more rounded and less angular, most of the wanzers look really ugly. Melee attack more smooth
Although i must say it sucks for FM fans, u got screwed. At least From Software (Armored Core) knew who their fanbase was and always put them first, ahead of mainstream
Is it just me, or does everyone seem to want Square/Enix to re-release Front Mission 3 over, and over, and over again? Time passed, those games were great, but they are gone now. Get over it. Want to play the old FM games again? Go play the old ones. It seems that 90% of the people crying about the change have never even heard of Gun Hazard, FMO, or Alternative.
I just cant understand why people want the same game to be re-released with updated graphics, time, and time again...
being a fan of both armored core and front mission, my first impression was "wait, this is armored core, oh wait, I see that spiked melee thing on the left arm is from front mission" I would still prefer turn based FM. Leave the 3D to AC. However, I'll definitely rent this.
first five games were turn-by-turn based strategy, and now the made a goddamn 3rd person shooter out of it.. fuck you screw-up enix. seem like they WANT to fuck up every good game. they made a piece of shit out of this game, the fucked up final fantasy, and considering what they did to those games i doubt parasit eve 3 will be better if they publish it.
@wind430 Yes it is sad that Front Mission Online was not only never released outside of Japan but shut down eh anyway yes FME will have multiplayer, check out their dev blog.
Looks like it could be an okay game. Sure it won't be the good turn based tactics games but I will view it as Gunhazard, a game different from the main series but which is still quite enjoyable to play.
Perhaps once (if?) they get around to make a FM6 we will see the turn based style again and hopefully they will releases it over here. Until then I will just replay the older games.

what i hated about front mission is that you are fighting in a city, but the city always seems completely empty so i do hope for the stages to be more lively. Another thing i hope is that this isnt just a 1 hit kill game like Armored Core and make it a bit more challenging like Mech Warrior. Also, just because it isnt tactics doesnt mean its gonna end up bad, i mean take a look at gun hazard.

I already have My wife, Armored Core. Front Mission was supposed to be my new girl on the side. I need my mech battling strategy rpg, especially since we were screwed on Front Missions 5's American release. They're taking the series in the wrong direction. Turn-based tactical gameplay is what made the series so good, I don't know what they're thinking with this. If I wanted to play a 3rd person shooter in giant mechs, I'd play Armored Core.
Considering FM5 ended the story, im surprised this game is going to exist. I only got to play FMOnline for a short while, so i cant wait to jump and a wanzer and run around again.
Also from what im seeing, the movement in Evolved is more realistic than Online. Wanzers in Online moved way to fast compared to the movement in the series CGs. I didnt mind this when traveling but the battles looked like a cluster ---- at times.

I think the game looks interesting, I would not have gone with a Front Mission Title. They could have called it something else and not gotten blasted but the Front mission community for it not being turn based, I loved the turn based combat. I think this looks interesting. But still in the back of my head I think, wow I wish it was still turn based. I will probably end up getting it though.

They really just copied the old Armored Core games but force you to aim instead of having a targeting zone... The Melee looks like it'll be overpowered since you can't get a good beat on someone so close.

something a lot of Game developers on top of that it gives run for the company to try out new software just to see how it acts and that fact that it not just one team making game like the FF series you got maybe 16 teams of 12 or 30 (depending on the scale of the game) making different styles of games to get more of us to buy their titles cause not everyone like RPG or Shooters

@M0RZINGER I doubt FME developers come here for suggestions heh, anyway FM world is pretty realistic world of "near" future and wanzers are called walking tanks for a reason You know. Some wanzers can have wheels, some can even hover but if I am not mistaken there was rather no such thing as a player controllable wanzer that was capable of real flight in FM games.

Hehe i know ur probably right about the suggestions, but hell u never know.
As for the wanzers i don't see why they couldn't be more mobile and agile, Chromehounds was a little to slow for my liking and Armored Core was maybe a little to fast. Somewhere in between those two games would be perfect.
As for flight im not talking about perpetual flight im more leaning towards short term "high jump" type of flight like a boost to get to higher elevation or somehing.

@M0RZINGER Well You can be sure that light wanzers will be fast and agile but it is different story with medium and heavy, also remember that they have still that "skate" mode.
About "high jump" well that is available, in Developer Diary 1 video we can see wanzer slowly moving in air for a short time while shooting. Can't say I like that but I can live with that.
Anyway there is bit more info in new Q&A article about FME and that nice New World Trailer, pretty nice music we have there.

As an Armored Core Fan i must say that i am very happy with the direction of Front Mission Evolved. I need a mech customization game, and am glad that they postponed release so they could polish things up.
A few suggestions, make Mechs more rounded and less angular, most of the wanzers look really ugly. Melee attack more smooth
Although i must say it sucks for FM fans, u got screwed. At least From Software (Armored Core) knew who their fanbase was and always put them first, ahead of mainstream

Is it just me, or does everyone seem to want Square/Enix to re-release Front Mission 3 over, and over, and over again? Time passed, those games were great, but they are gone now. Get over it. Want to play the old FM games again? Go play the old ones. It seems that 90% of the people crying about the change have never even heard of Gun Hazard, FMO, or Alternative.
I just cant understand why people want the same game to be re-released with updated graphics, time, and time again...

being a fan of both armored core and front mission, my first impression was "wait, this is armored core, oh wait, I see that spiked melee thing on the left arm is from front mission" I would still prefer turn based FM. Leave the 3D to AC. However, I'll definitely rent this.

Looks like it could be an okay game. Sure it won't be the good turn based tactics games but I will view it as Gunhazard, a game different from the main series but which is still quite enjoyable to play.
Perhaps once (if?) they get around to make a FM6 we will see the turn based style again and hopefully they will releases it over here. Until then I will just replay the older games.

i hope this turns out more like Mech Warrior instead of Armored Core
what i hated about front mission is that you are fighting in a city, but the city always seems completely empty so i do hope for the stages to be more lively. Another thing i hope is that this isnt just a 1 hit kill game like Armored Core and make it a bit more challenging like Mech Warrior. Also, just because it isnt tactics doesnt mean its gonna end up bad, i mean take a look at gun hazard.

I'm a avid mech gamer and I would like to see Front Mission be more strategical in there newest game, because it is what sets it apart from other mech games. and plus its going to be hard to compete with Armored Core, which has been the dominate mech action game for several years.

I can't seem to get over some simple little thing called...I dunno, THE LAWS OF PHYSICS with million-ton mechs zippin' around in the air like they're made outta tin-foil. If they would've grounded the mechs in the latest Armored Core games, maybe they wouldn't have gotten trashy ratings and tanked in sales? Then again, I don't see Armored Core on the PC.

Hopefully this is just a side-story like Gun Hazard. Nontheless, I've always wanted to see another action-based Front Mission. And yes, Armored Core also features mechs and a third person camera. The nuances will probably be entirely different. I mean, manual aim alone is a huge difference. Plus, the size difference between ACs and Wanzers makes a difference in what sorts of scenarios can be portrayed.

Finally ^^ i cant wait for this Front Mission 3 was the last game available to us in the Uk and i've been itching to play 4 and 5 but sadly never had the chance :( but this one is confimed for uk release, I cant say im 100% sure about them taking away the rts engline but im still really looking forward to this, I feel that this maybe the first Decent game to come from Square since Final fantasy 9 was released

They're taking the series in the wrong direction. Turn-based tactical gameplay is what made the series so good, I don't know what they're thinking with this. If I wanted to play a 3rd person shooter in giant mechs, I'd play Armored Core.

Considering FM5 ended the story, im surprised this game is going to exist. I only got to play FMOnline for a short while, so i cant wait to jump and a wanzer and run around again.
Also from what im seeing, the movement in Evolved is more realistic than Online. Wanzers in Online moved way to fast compared to the movement in the series CGs. I didnt mind this when traveling but the battles looked like a cluster ---- at times.
From what im seeing the game is legit.
