  • american is not obligated or force in so many ways of how to live like the british or the europeans.americans don't take everything serious like europe and british do. maybe those words in british was used more often in american than maybe we all would not be talking about it now. not everyone in this world watches nigella, jamie, or gordon. there are other famous chefs besides them that cook great that are american and cook just as good as some famous british chef.

  • americans are not arrogant people. british needs to wake up and get out of the dark ages. you can not say british is the real english. ok maybe it is but americans wanted to change the english ways to there english american way. you try to go in some places in america and see if they know those words. they would have to look it up in a dictionary. british trys to make europe think that how the americans call there food.

  • get real. you can not expect english and american english to be exactly the same. europe follows too much of what the british do. americans is what it is today. they made america the way they wanted it. all different styles, taste, and so on. you either like it or you don't.  we don't all have to folllow the same rules but it would be easier if you say words the proper way . it may there way of talking but you are not going to find those words in america in use somuch.

  • i find when chicken is cooked on high heat with smoking oil it becomes far to dry and hard. I have foudn the only way to cook chicken breast nice and tender and soft is to fry on low heat. IT tastes much nicer than chicken cooked on high heat.

  • this is a good video but british sure know how to change words around And get it confusing for other people . corn flour is cornstarch. redchili spice is red chili flakes. icing sugar is confectioners sugar, caster sugar is shortening and even when they get married the preacher is making the bride and groom to have witness instead bridesmaid and to sign marriage papers in front of others. america does not use it in this way. today i had to look up the word icing sugar. confusing in my language

There are a lot of things Americans say different and do different than people all over the world. England is our mother country. Were really supposed to say things like them all the other English speaking countries do

  • @myalouis911 Arrogance doesn't cause language to change, common usage does. Language is ever changing. The english that they spoke in England 1000 years ago wouldn't make much sense to today's english speakers.

But there's nothing wrong with being arrogant and there's nothing wrong with being American so I don't want you to think I'm being rude.I think the reason why some American words are different from British words is because when Americans got their independence they wanted to prove their independence even more by changing some of the words up

  • trying to make Chinese stir-fry dishes at home is kinda like barbecuing in a kitchen. The key to making a successful Chinese stir-fry dish in the FIRE. The flaming hot wok is what gives Chinese stir-fry all the flavors.

  • I just made this and I say it is great... if you have ever had chinese Soy Sauce Chicken, it's like that only it doesn't take 4 hours of simmering. Very nice flavour from the five spice powder. I have to admit, I thought it was going to be rather ordinary just by seeing it in the video, but it actually tastes a lot better than it looks.

  • @jcrums Most likely chicken stock. It looks light but I am sure it is not fish stock. She already put oyster sauce and she would not want to make it smell fishy.

  • hmm, not sure about the dark soy sauce--the finished dish looks a bit dull in colour (not so "clean" looking). I think light soy sauce would be better, just use less.

    It's obviously been changed to adapt the British taste, like the idea of soaking up gravy. Indeed I think roast spuds would go better than rice :P

  • Personally I don't believe in "rules" in cooking - you get to be creative, you get to experiment and I think she is right with the "do as you please" motto. Cooking is an art and in art everyone has his/her own way. What she does is putting her own character in her cooking, this kind of chicken stir fry is not traditional but I think it's a fabulous idea. That's how I like to cook :)

    ps: shes Taiwanese not Chinese

  • I agree. I hate it when chefs get up their own arse going about 'if you don't do it their way, then it's not the proper way' so snobbish! People cook and tweak and put their own accent on things and we can all learn from each other, just as chefs do so they have no business looking down their noses at our cooking.
