I knew Pat Morita. One time, I sent him a couple of Mr. Miyagi action figures. He called me up to ask if I could find more of them, because his wife wanted one. I did. He also autographed two of them for me. I really miss him.
Oh, my...excellent. I was seventeen or eighteen in '84. I Loved the film. Sadly, it has made me waist a lot of time nd energy waiting, watching, needing a Mr. Miyagi. and the whole thing was made worse ten years later when I read the story about Don Angier in Inside Karate magazine.
thanks for making this man! awesome job on the video/music/editing! One of the best movies every made. Changed my life too when i first watched it, it still brings back good memories when i watch it.
ME AND MY FAMILY TOOK A TRIP TO THAT BEACH OVER THE SUMMER!! I SAW THE MOVIE FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER WE GOT HOME.... AND I FLIPPED OUT ABOUT IT TILL THIS DAY!! :D I LOVED IT!!
This documentary is awesome you should be working for like CNN or something you got great talent. In my own experience of the Karate Kid I remmeber in High School I wrote an essay about an antagonist of a famous book or movie. I chose Johny from the karate kid and a lot of people liked it I got a B plus but everyone felt touched just by the fact it was from the Karate Kid
I did extensive googling of everything Karate Kid related and actually found a print version of his sermon online. Contacted him and asked if he'd do it on tape. He helped me find a local video crew to tape it for merely the price of the tapes. Very generous of them. When the footage came in the mail, I was so happy to see how passionate his delivery was (and of course the disinterested audience was a bonus)...
What a brilliant job! One of the best documentaries i've ever seen on one of the greatest movies ever made!!!!:) I'll never forget gettin a karate outfit and my mom makin me the Karate Kid headband for Christmas!!!! WOW i miss those days! Thank you Sooo much for bringin back all the memories with your fine film making skills! Man who makes Karate Kid Doc....accomplish ANYTHING!!!! :)
You should have brought a translator with you so you could have went in to the house where Daniel-sahn lived! I am sure they would have let you in if she knew what the hell you were talking about. It would have been great to see the spot where Miagi said " Lucky you no hurt Da hand!~" Great vid bro!~
i just love the karate kid and the karate kid part 2, but i have not seen the third movie. i am just a big fan of the karate kid and the karate kid part 2. Also i am a big fan of the outsiders.
which on of the actors in the outsiders who plays Johnny Cade is Ralph Macchio!
After fighting for respect than for his life,In part 3 the Daniel character somehow becomes even wimpier & more obnoxious than before Miyagi took him under his wing....Just watch it...its like a comedy movie that wasnt supposed to be comedy....LaRusso isa bigger pussy than ever, doesnt even get with the love interest she leaves before the conclusion & he didnt even kiss her...& he mouths off to Miyagi like a baby in scenes & wimpers outloud when he gets surpise visits from the new cobra kai crew
I'm in karate. because when i saw the movie karate kid i got so excited of being in karate. like later on my luck came in like 2 weeks and my dad saw a poster of karate school and i told him to please sign up there. later on i was signed up and i said " wow thats cool now I'm in karate which i always wished to be in it because other kids beat me up in school and made fun of me" thats my documentary was short but at least it was something :)
I am completely thrill to see that this documentary was made, and that there are some great Karate Kid fans out there. I actually just the movie again today. You are so awesome for making this video....Im off to watch the rest :D
ok and by the way it is not much e o, Ralph likes to pronounce his name as ma-chee-o even though the correct way to say it is may-key-0. Sorry but I love Raplhy so you gotta say his name right otherwise being A Karate Kid fan would be wrong as you gotta know about the actors as well, sorry just a minor glitch I had to mention ...
I don't get it. Is Ralph (and the rest of the world) saying his own name wrong? Maybe the "May-key-O" people should just give in to their most famous family member and go with "Ma-chee-O."
yeah well I don't know why maybe he dares to be different, anyway loved the doco, love to see more on your fav films, To me he will always be Daniel sun, he he he ...
Growing up, I too, after hearing my parent's pronounce it, used to call him Ma-key-0. It just sounded like that was in better vocabularly and speech... I guess it's different in America (It's pronounced as it's spelled), but I've seen many British interviews where he's pronounced Ma-key-0.
I'm Italian, and I can assure you that the right pronunciation is Ma-ki-o, because if you watch his biografy you'll find that he has Italian origins, Ma-chi-o is the english and american pronunciation but it's uncorrect.
Great video. The movie is OK, but nothing special. But looking into it at IMDB I was surprised...
I can't believe how old the skinny little fokker was. I thought the girl (look again at those hooters) was years older, but she was actually 2 years younger.
I understand the obsession, I went to Ireland just so I could stare at Bono's house and visit his pub, pity he wasen't in Dublin at the time, but like you I did the historic walkaround tour, so good job on this, I love Raplh he is still so hot and can you beleive he was 23 years old when he appeared in that movie, "put him in a body bag ha ha ha ha"
This is just awsome! I still watch this movie. I remember seeing it like 3 times in when it was in the theatre when I was 5 I am 29 now. It' makes me happy to know I made all these years later to look back and reflect on that good movie and good times! I hope I can get out there to visit these sites too.
Dworkingham.....Cheers!, finally some worth while content, I saw the trailer post about a year and a half ago, and thought "wow what a great idea!" sooo glad to see the whole piece of work, it is phenomenal, I grew up in the 80's and was a 15 yr old kid when I saw it, and became obsessed with the Karate Kid ,I mean obsessed!!! good to see I 'm not alone
holy crap thank you soooooo much..... i was just watching the karate kid..... hey i cant believe the actual locations havent changed much.... when was this documentary made?
This was really entertaining. It's cool to see the locations, and the people whose lives were influenced by the movie. Seeing those locations in person must be like visiting your childhood town. I wonder what it would have been like living at "South Seas" in the 80's.
It was really awesome. And I've been back since then since I'm often in L.A. and am a huge nerd who can't pass these places without stopping. Thanks for watching.
I wrote letters to a few of the cast members. He and a few of the Cobra Kai were the only ones I could track down. He was really awesome and welcoming. A great guy. And though I work around actors a lot, I had trouble separating the actor from the character. I've seen the movie too many times I guess. He also wore his Karate Kid 3 wrap gift. Look close and you can see the logo.
