My dad loved her so much. I never really appreciated what a genius she was until many years after his death. He loved ragtime and I grew up with her beautiful music playing.
I am thankful for the late Ms. Del Wood. I learned so much from her and her recordings. I guess I am about the last of this breed still carrying this style of piano on youtube. Sincerely, Allen dale.
Wow, I never thought I'd find videos od Del Wood. Anybody knows the release date of her RCA hit "Whirl-A-Way" ?. Thanks from Chile for posting this great tape.
Well, the trip to nashville wasn't a total loss. At least I got to go to the opry and see some of my favorites- Porter Wagoner, Bill Anderson, Del McCoury, and Little Jimmy!
I love Del as well which is why I was so angry after taking the tour of RCA studio B and asking if Del Wood played on the piano they had and the tour guide said "Who's He."
Well welcome to Nashville today! Doesn't surprise me. Still, I hate to hear it. That would have been the piano she used on most, if not all of her RCA recordings, at least. Unfortunately she's largely forgotten & totally ignored by the music industry today, even though she was the 1st female instrumentalist in ANY field of music to have a million selling record and I believe that record still stands today.
that was a treat

She was a dear friend of mine and her personality was even larger than her talent & I wish everyone could have known her!
