It's great, but the motivation for the main character has me a little confused. I assume this guy must in special ops, because he is going solo on a mission. So this guy must have a lot of experience in war, in which he wouldn't hestitate to kill if he needed too. At all the points the protagonist hesitated, it looks like a rookie that is afraid to kill. Then the protagonist pulls out a card from his daughter, and musters motivation to kill the antagonist with determination on his face.
@UndoneEagle i wanted to kinda leave it to the audience to make their mind up about, but i was going for the angle of this soldier is suffering with a past bad experience of war where he maybe shot someone he shouldn't have shot. he struggles with his mind but when he's trapped, the message from home gives him the determination to fight a survive so he can go home to his family. if not he will be killed himself. Kill or be Killed.
@craigfrosttv Ah okay, then the video should have shown the soldier was struggling with a bad kill. Like small flashbacks when the soldier was lining up the shot probably would have been good.
@UndoneEagle yeah that would have been good, i actually had that originally in my treatment but the length of this video was twice as long after the first cut and i had to get it down to half that for my film course criteria so had to delete a lot of stuff.
@FunkyFreshCinema I agree, however all audio was made originally by myself. I had to create all audio sounds myself, no existing samples of effects were used.
I saw this after checking silver acorn short, you really have a masterly art with use of lens' etc. That explosion was incredibly effective. I make films/music vids myself, but haven't gone into it at your level. The fx, atmos, editing and look were all top notch. I use the Canon xl1, it's more than 10 years old but i love it still.
@wingedstatue hey thanks a lot for your kind words. i'm glad you like it. I haven't used that camera. I'll go check out some of your vids! thanks again :)
@craigfrosttv i love your video, how i wish you can make some video's on how to make video's and techniques on how to make some editing too. i have 550d canon but don't know how to use any technique and uses.
@metalrose100 thanks alot, glad you like it! I plan in the future to do a 'behind the scenes' feature for one of my videos which may help, but all i can suggest is use your camera as much as possible and try to always use full manual settings (manual exposure, manual focus etc.) it gives you more control over the image. hope that helps you
@ZUPERCURTIS i didn't follow a tutorial for that particular explosion, but i did learn how to do something similar from a tutorial before hand. I learned from videocopilot. Google videocopilot and if you go to their tutorials page there are hundreds of tutorials. I think the one called 'blast wave' is the closet one to this explosion. But once you learn the basics, you can do your own effects without the need for step by step tutorials. hope this helps! :) glad you liked my film
I quite liked it, I didn't like how badly the blacks were crushed, lost a lot of detail in there, the guy in the black jacket was buried in the background. Less is more when it comes to grading, or colour ruining as I call it... Nice job though :)
That was really nice, most of it was really well done, some areas though need better sound to add to the feel of it, but all in all, it was great. Good job, I was wondering when you were gonna post some short films, especially since you state you were gonna be doing both, skits, and short films :)
Btw what lenses did you use? if you don't mind me asking that is.
@AVEproductions00 thanks man. I would up load more short films but obviously they take alot longer to produce than little skits, especially if i want actors and it to look good overall. Also writing takes longer.
I used 3 lenses for this. Most of the medium long shots to close ups were done with the 50mm 1.8f Canon lens, then for the zoom shots like the binoculars and gun sighting i used the 55mm-250mm Canon lens, and then for wider shots like the explosion & running i used the 18mm-55mm lens
@craigfrosttv Of course, you deserve it. That's understandable, I have so much planned, and really overall, the time, effort, and hard work put into all of the production from start to finish really show's in the end result.
So if you really wanna achieve something of immense quality, you need to plan things out the best you can, and take as much time needed if possible.
Cant wait to see more of what you write, and produce in your short films, btw love the color grading :)
Awesome!, I had a feeling you were using a new lens, not sure if it's borrowed, rented, or one you own, but the quality of this film is much sharper, I'm planning much latter after I get my computer built, pro audio/lighting for filming, I'll be getting a 24-70mm, I believe?, it's really nice, expensive but great, super wide angle as well. But we shall see when that day comes lol :3
@AVEproductions00 i hope to shoot a longer short film this summer which i have started writing. but we'll see what happens there. I own those lenses i used, i trashed my 50mm lens on this shoot when the tripod got blown over in the galeforce winds and the camera went lens first into the ground. That lens is now in 4 parts :( but i have since bought a replacement. I wish i could afford that lens you said about, its very nice.
can't wait till you start shooting stuff :) could maybe collab one day
@craigfrosttv Well cant wait to see when that comes out, I'm starting to put stuff together as well, but I keep come up with so much, I dont know where to start writing first ^^;... haha. But I'm hoping I can pull together good shots, and actually produce good quality stuff, especially since I know much more, than what I use to.
That's a bummer, sorry to hear that happened D: , good thing it was a nice, yet cheap one, unlike the 50mm 1.4, and 1.2. Glad to hear you got a new one....
@AVEproductions00 ....Also glad to hear you got another lens, hope it's doing you well :).
Very much so, but it will be a while before I can afford it as well.
Yeah! same here!!!. That would be awesome, I would be willing, It may be done through a few ways, but maybe if I can pull things off after both our channels go further one of us could visit, and do another collab
Really good!! :)
