just asking, cuz I'm looking for a movie I saw long ago which had the plot alot like the original, all I remember is some scenes....in this movie, was there a scene of her toes bleeding as she goes down the steps?

@6789crystal "Aquamarine", "Magic Island" (parmount film from the 1990s), Fairie Tale Theatere's "The little Mermaid", "The thirteenth year". All fairly good mermaid movies, Aquamarine being the best one I'm aware of.

I have this movie on dvd now. It's not as good as I thought it would be, but I still thought it was cute. I like watching different versions of fairytales. And Andersen's are some of my all-time favorites.

@kitsunewolf16 No, he didn't marry the mermaid... That only happens in the Disney version! In the original story by Andersen - and in this film - the prince does not recognize true love when he meets it. That is the tragedy of the story. He thinks it was a human princess who saved him from drowning, so he feels obliged to marry her (the dark haired girl), and never really notices the mermaid until it is too late.On the night when he marries the princess, the mermaid's heart breaks and she fades.

@ZolotayaKoshka Oh Ok thanks for telling me ive seen so many little mermaids its hard to keep track i saw one little mermaid where she had to kill the prince an his new wife or gf so She could return to the sea after letting his blood rush over her legs, of course it was the sea witch who told her that was the only way to come back but she could not do it an she faded, It was morbid an sad, but a nice movie.

the movie alone is enough to make me weep, together with the song it can break my heart.

The traditional version of the Little Mermaid story has always been my favorite.
