  • Meh, it's okay... but why do I suspect it will have long since been melted down and recycled 30 years from now, unlike many of it's "ancestors" which, as can be seen right here on YouTube, have been rode hard and put away wet for decades, and are still going strong even 50-60 years later? The basic "technology" doesn't really change, tracks+torque+blade=bulldozer. Electric start and climate controlled cabs were the last great "innovations"... the rest is just fluff and needless complication. :/

  • need that!

  • It looks to be a very fast cycling and nimble machine.Fills the blade fast and moves it fast. I wonder if caterpillar will eventually use electric drive on their larger tractors

  • No diffrent to any Diesel electric Train that have been around now for how many years?just in a dozer now,and no trans to worry about

  • biggest dozer that you dont need a escort for!

  • @arctyler no we haul our d8 without an escort. just sayin

  • Dozer is currently the most advanced n1 CAT

  • they work about the same way as a locomotive i think its a cool idea if it does what cat says it does but i do like a high sproket machine

  • Hi SoCalEarthMovers,

The Cat D7E looks to be pretty fast, and while it 'may'? not be for super tough rock pushing, it is perfect for chips and farm stuff.

    Take care,

    mrbluenun

  • well the way i see this machine it is cats way to dealing with emishon control you can still deaccel the throtle for smooth forword to reverse and the motor runs genorators for the electric drives all good but how long and how costly are these drive motors gonna be and how long do they last the next thing is the one cylinder in the front i like it and yes it is an old euclid design made sence then and it makes sence now one less trunion ball and less packing and hoses to deal with

  • this thing dose look nice but im telling you now it cant do the job that the old dozers can no way in hell

  • I have ran both the d7 and the d7e and the d7 is a much better machine then the new d7e, the d7 is heaver and can push more then the d7e and easer to handel i fount then the d7e wha a pice of shit

  • @Darbley66 That's interesting. My experience was just the opposite. I was extremely pleased with the production capability of the new 7e. We've put 500 hours on ours and it's made anyone who operates it very happy.

  • looks more like an 8 to me..

  • You can't control the RPM's ...but you CAN control the electric drive..dummies! The engine is simply powering the generator! This dozer is very cool because it 'kills' the myth that electric motors don't have 'kick-ass-torque'!! An electric motor has FULL torque as soon as it starts turning & that diesel engine in there cannot do that! It's amazing who much people have been deceived! Electric power ROCKS!!

  • @AnimePlanet7 *how

  • @AnimePlanet7 "Myth about electric motors and torque"

I think you invented a myth about their being a myth.

  • @AnimePlanet7 my only complaint with electric powered machines is that it gets more and more complicated everytime you have to put computers into the link... but this is one very nice machine

  • All electric, R.G. Letouneau would be proud of Caterpiller.

Single hydraulic cylinder for the blade, the next thing ya know Cat will be making a modern version of Euclid's TC-12!

Just funnin'. Just when ya think all that old technology is out of date, it's interesting how things just keep getting cycled around and remain the same.

  • $485,000

  • The single cylinder looks goofier then shit! Put two cylinders up there and i bet you will get more sales and i heard you cant control the rpm's. make the rpm's like a constant speed prop on an airplane and that would be the perfect machine!

  • We demoed the first one in colo.(M&M Excavation), junk! This thing is weird! No control over RPMs and it just doesnt respond like a normal dozer. I'd seriously hate to do some blue toppin or back fillin some deep trench with it. Cali. can keep it with all their b.s. laws!

  • Who makes the electric drive motors for Cat?

Anyone know the spec on torque? or voltage?

  • Nice video. That dozer looks a tidy unit. Pushes well.

  • it appears it has lots of power.spins the tracks easily.

  • @maplemanz Of course it has ! THE ELECTRIC MOTORS ARE THE MOSTE POWERFULE ! THE HAVE INSTANT TORQUE FORM SECOND ONE !

WITH THE SAME DISEL ENGINE THIS TRAKTOR HASE MORE POWER THANKS TO THE ELECTRIC MOTORS !

  • I just ran this last week @ CAT's demo facility.......This thing has more power than the D7R it will soon be replacing. They increase visibility by eliminating the small front window. Instead you have two GIANT doors and one helluva ride. Quiet, great to operate and awesome visibility. If it lasts 1/2 as long as the engineers say, LOOK OUT. This will create a path for all other CATS to follow!

  • THIS PROVES THAT ELECTRIC RULES !!!

With 30% lower conspumtion it with 50% MORE POWER !

  • The electric generator, power inverter and propulsion module in the electric drive system replace traditional mechanical components such as a torque converter and transmission.

D7E ELECTRIC DRIVE -THE BEST WAY FOR BUSINESS AND THE EARTH !

  • I con t see any differences to a normal disel engine machine. Caterpillar made a realy nice machine

  • @ShermanM1 That is because the ELECTRIC MOTORS are a lot powerfull the any disel. And relaiable and NO polution and INSTANT TORQUE and.... maneuverability.

With no transmition this means it can move veri fast fornt or back only by moving a joystik.

  • @ShermanM1 exactly, and its been done with electric motors and a diesal generator, far more efficient

  • Operator needs to be just a little easier on the blade and the forward-reverse directioning. Otherwise, a good demonstration of the advances in the new 7E

  • that thing is junk wow i love cats too haha

  • how cum it has a exhaust if its electric drive ??????????

  • Simple, diesel engine+generator+2 electric motors

  • @shauny19840 here you have the explanation

    w cat com D7E

The adress is with dots and slah.

So the disel motor acts only as an electric generator. The real work is done by the ELECTRIC MOTOR at the wheels !

  • very nice video, thanks for sharing! Where was that demo? Very powerful dozer!

  • the one hydraulic to lift the bladeis kind of strange

  • yay, im with you I dont agree with it but It looks like it puts out the same kind of force as 2 would

  • They did that to increase visibility..........

  • How does it increase visibilty? I don't know if you ever been in a dozer but you still looking at the back of the blade no matter where you place the clyinder

  • @328DLCR That is what CAT says. It may not even have to do with the single cylinder design.

  • @328DLCR But with two cylinders the hood has to be wider to have a place to attach the cylinders, with only one they can make everything narrower thus more visibility of your blade

  • who can afford too buy one

  • awesome video very nice dozer 5/5
