  • Dave, these are the most helpful pool videos I've ever seen.

Ordered your book few days ago, can't wait!

  • Hai Mr Dave, I developed the habit on looking at the small spot on the cueball that I intend to hit. It works well for me since long and short shots seems more or less of the same difficulty. Any concrete reason why we should be looking at the object ball for regular shots?

  • @raiaaan

Check out "eye pattern" in the FAQ section of my website. Several reasons are listed there.

  • Dr.Dave.

Do you have any advice for shooting over balls, when the cue ball is touching rail or anything that would cause your normal stroke to be altered?

    Thanks in advance.

  • - elevate as little as possible.

    - make sure you are lined up as close to the vertical center-line of the CB as possible.

    - focus on the CB during the final stroke (instead of the OB, which is recommended on typical shots).

    - keep good stroke mechanics (see "stroke best practices document" on my website, in the "Instructor/Student Resources" section)

    I hope that helps,

    Dr. Dave

  • He's got some good advice, you want to keep your cue as level as possible to make the shot as clean as possible.

  • @ixblitzxi Detail tip: you'll notice that if one does not drop one's elbow (in a perfect pendulum stroke, as shown in the video), there is no way one could hit the object ball one is shooting over by mistake, as the grip hand goes upwards and the tip "drops onto" on the cloth - I believe it helps to realize that (= no need to do anything extra to avoid brushing that ball - many people are unnecessarily afraid of that happening!). Cheers!

  • Thanks for the comment. Good luck with your game.

    Dr. Dave
